Defiler To Re-Issue "Pangaea," Working On New Album

In October 2010, after a few months living in the studio working on demos and recording, Castro Valley, CA’s Defiler released the debut album “Pangaea” as a digital album only. Soon after, scraping together enough money from digital sales of the release, the band shot its first ever music video for “Cryomancer.”

The viral success of the “Cryomancer” video immediately caught the attention of Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Jasta, Kingdom of Sorrow) and Stillborn Records. Shortly thereafter, Defiler vocalist Jake Pelzl and Jasta started working together on re-issuing “Pangaea” as a physical CD for the first time ever. Due to popular demand, Stillborn Records is now fast tracking the re-issue and making it available for a limited time as a CD/T-shirt bundle.

The re-issue of “Pangaea” was remixed/re-masterd by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Emmure, Chimaira) and also includes “Wild Wasteland,” a never before released bonus studio track. The re-issue will also include new artwork designed by Mike D from Darkicon Design (Killswitch Engage).

Defiler recently signed a new record deal (with a new label home) and additional details are set to be announced shortly. The band is currently hard at work on the follow up to “Pangaea” with an expected first quarter 2012 release.

Diamond Plate Posts New Song "At The Mountains Of Madness" Online

Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have released a new track titled “At the Mountains of Madness,” which is the first song to be released from the band’s forthcoming debut album “Generation Why?” The album was recorded with producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Nevermore, Deicide, 3 Inches of Blood) and is due to be released on August 29th through Earache Records.

You can listen to the new track now at this location (e-mail required). Diamond Plate lead guitarist Konrad Kupiec comments:

“All of us couldn’t be more excited to release ‘At the Mountains of Madness’ as the first song off ‘Generation Why?’. With the original video for this song nearing 100,000 views on YouTube, ‘Mountains’ is arguably the song most people know us by, and we want to give old and new fans the perfect representation of how much we’ve improved over the past few years. With this album, the band sounds tighter and heavier, while the song-writing is more focused than ever.

“The song is inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft novel of the same name, although we went deeper than the classic horror story of the novel and made our own social commentary present in the lyrics. As to our theme, that is for the listener to interpret and figure out.

“Right now we’re actually hard at work at writing for the second album (very inspired and not wasting any time haha), while simultaneously preparing to hit the road for the first time in August. With touring plans already in the works until next year, we will be out for a long time.”

Diamond Plate will also be joining Kittie and Dirge Within on a U.S. tour. Details are available at this location.
