Satyricon Vocalist Satyr Reveals Brain Tumor Diagnosis

Satyricon has been working on the follow-up to the band’s 2013 self-titled album, but unfortunately a wrench has been thrown in that works as vocalist / guitarist Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven revealed via his Instagram account that he has a brain tumor. Satyr comments:

“I’m going home. I got extremely sick 8 days ago and was rushed to hospital. Scans have shown that there is a blind passenger in my head. Most likely it is benign. I can live with it as long as it does not grow bigger.

“Removing it is extremely complicated and should only be done if it grows into a size where it is a matter of life and death. We all get our set of cards and this happened to be one of mine. There are so many people who have to deal with much worse things than I do, so I do not feel sorry for myself.

“I have a great family, lots of friends, Satyricon, Wongraven Wines and many people who support my endeavours all over the world. I will spend the next two weeks trying to get my strength back, then try to starting writing on the new Satyricon again and pick up where I left on all my wine projects.”

Kult Ov Azazel Releasing Split Album With Wormreich

Kult Ov Azazel had been working on an upcoming split release with Wormreich before that band and Khaotika were in a fatal van crash. Now Kult Of Azazel has issued the following update about the split continuing as planned:

“We’ll begin recording our portion of the Kult ov Azazel/Wormreich split that was already in the pipeline before the accident happened hopefully in the next few weeks.

“Our songs that will appear have already been demo’d out and at this point we just need to get Azagkur in to do drum tracking for the three songs one which will feature Vulk from Wormreich on bass. The Wormreich portion was for the most part recorded before all this happened.

“This MUST be done to honor the memory of Vathron and Vidarr not to mention we must finish what has already been started. AMSG!”

Suicidal Angels Hometown Show Footage Available Online

Footage has been posted online of Suicidal Angels performing live last night (the 27th) in Athens, which can be seen below. The band also comments on the show:

“Which else could be the best way to end the year, and gradually welcome the new one, apart from a show in your hometown? And indeed, this happened yesterday, in the 30th anniversary celebration of Metal Hammer Greece and along with the mighty Rotting Christ and the best Dio cover band, Rock N Roll Children!

“But this night, would not have been anything without every single one of you, without every individual, younger or older, who create something unique, called the Athenian audience. It had been a night that all of us will keep it in our minds as a gathering of the family again! Words are not enough to describe the atmosphere and the feeling of the yesterday’s show, thank you Athens, thank you Athenian Moshing Crew, you rule!!!”
