Skull Pit (feat. Mem of Exumer and Tatsu of Church Of Misery) releases new single, “Blood Titan”

– November 6th, 2018 –

On November 16th, Metal Blade Records will finally release Skull Pit, the debut album by American/Japanese collaboration Skull Pit!

Skull Pit is a tale of two musicians from opposite sides of the heavy metal spectrum and the planet: Tatsu, hailing from Tokyo/Japan, is the bassist and mastermind behind the internationally acclaimed doom outfit Church Of Misery; Mem, from New York/USA, is the singer and front-man of German thrash pioneers Exumer!

For a preview of Skull Pit, the new single, “Blood Titan”, can be heard at: youtu.be/654Ru-5KdTU

Skull Pit vocalist Mem comments: “‘Blood Titan’ is a straight up stomper with a very recognizable chorus that could’ve been on Motorhead‘s ‘Bomber’ album or any late 70s/early 80s NWOBHM record for that matter. We were very happy with the guitar tones on this song as they appear to conjure up the spirit of the late Fast Eddie Clarke.”

To hear the previous singles, “Fire Breather” and “Marauders”, please visit: metalblade.com/skullpit – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:
–ltd. Digipak-CD
–180 g black vinyl
–silver/black marbled vinyl (ltd. 200 – EU-exclusive)
–red/black marbled vinyl (ltd. 200 – EU-exclusive)
–gold/black splattered vinyl (ltd. 100 – EU-exclusive)
–gold/silver splattered vinyl (ltd. 100 – US-exclusive)

The two veterans endeavored to combine their favorite elements of bands like Motorhead along with the countless outfits of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal into one blistering and highly energetic nine-track album. The songs on Skull Pit‘s debut are a clear departure from what Exumer or Church Of Misery usually sound like. Stepping away from Exumer‘s lighting fast rhythms and Church of Misery‘s slowed down, Iommi-inspired riffs, Skull Pit creates melodies in the vein of 70s hard rock and 80s NWOBHM with Lemmy’s punk attitude.

Mixed in Tokyo by O-mi Kihara, Skull Pit was recorded in New York and Japan during Exumer‘s and Church of Misery‘s time off from playing live around the globe. The result is a free-flowing album that switches effortlessly between genres and boundaries, but always with the intent to deliver a razor sharp riff or a memorable hook.

Skull Pit didn’t shy away from further expanding their all-inclusive attitude when it came to choosing and recording a cover song as a bonus track: Rose Tattoo‘s “All the Lessons”. The song features Brian “Mitts” Daniels (ex-Madball), who produced Mem’s vocal tracks in New York.

Skull Pit track-listing
1. Double Cross
2. Roller
3. Fire Breather
4. Year Of The Dog
5. Soul Raiders
6. Blood Titan
7. Marauders
8. The Line

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with their latest album, Two Paths, they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Mother Feather streams new single, “Snakebite”, via Guitar World

– October 1st, 2018 –

“…among the best material the band has released so far.”The Deli

“…glam rock mixed with fiery garage-pop, blending the visual approach of classic glam rock with proto punk influences.”The Punk Site

Adding more fuel to the fire, NYC’s Mother Feather is releasing their second pulsing single today in anticipation of their sophomore album. The out-for-blood “Snakebite” makes its debut exclusively via Guitar World: guitarworld.com, clocking in at under two minutes without a second to spare. Explains lead singer Ann Courtney, “An homage to the evil impulse and the speed of its ambush, I wrote ‘Snakebite’ in a hot 20 minutes. With its production setting it in the cinematic imagination of an 80s punk cult-film, this is the riotous theme song for your psycho ex-girlfriend with an axe to grind.”

New York City’s Mother Feather have perfected the formula to pay homage to the roots of punk’n’roll and heavy rock injected with their own brand of the divine feminine, and since their debut album have been keeping the audience on their toes. The evolution of their high-energy “pop cock rock” surges forward this November 2nd with their sophomore album Constellation Baby, out via Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records, and available for pre-order now here: metalblade.com/motherfeather – where you can also stream the previous single, “Red Hot Metal”.

Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard announce new album, ‘Malady X’

– August 9th, 2018 –

Launch title track as first single

Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard from Germany have finished the recordings for their new album Malady X and are proud to present the first song to the masses! Head over to metalblade.com/nothgard to check out the stunning video for the title track “Malady X” – where the record is also available for pre-order in the following formats:

–ltd. 1st ed. Digipak-CD
–box set (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–180g black vinyl
–dead gold marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–light grey marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–red/black marbled vinyl (EMP exclusive – limited to 120 copies)
–clear/black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 100 copies)

Bandleader Dom R. Crey states: “With ‘Malady X‘, we have created an album that is both dark and serious, but on the other hand rife with catchy melodies – while not compromising our individual sound at all, on the contrary: I am sure we have defined the Nothgard-style more clearly than ever on this album. This is why we are really happy to present our first new material to you in the shape of a music video!”

The clip for “Malady X” was recorded in one take, meaning without interruptions and based on a specific choreography to make an authentic impression. The result is nothing less than breathtaking!

Dom R. Crey adds: “Of course, ‘Malady X‘ takes on an important role because it’s the title track. It represents everything that we, deep inside, find disturbing about society and current ways of thinking. We consciously address it in the lyrics – no-go’s and issues in daily life which should actually be perceived as such, but instead, we have lost awareness of them. Rather than standing in for our convictions, we choose to live according to false values.”

Nothgard has recorded Malady X at Def-Creation and & Southern Deathcult studios and called the renowned Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Kreator, Opeth, etc.) for mastering duties. The result is an album full of epic melodic death metal anthems!

The Crown releases new video for “In The Name Of Death”

– July 31st, 2018 –

Today, The Crown has launched a new video for “In The Name Of Death”, a track from their highly acclaimed album, Cobra Speed Venom, which was released earlier this year. Check out the clip here: youtube.com/watch?v=ScBxWpDTT2E

The Crown comments: The Crown gives you a death-chillin’ tune as a counter action for this ridiculously hot season – ‘In The Name Of Death’! A tune that will automatically make you drink more beer!”

Produced by Fredrik Nordstrom at the classic Studio Fredman, Cobra Speed Venom is massive, brutal and a real punch in the face. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock n’ roll, which really shows that The Crown has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall. Triptykon Frontman Thomas Gabriel Fischer’s Arm Broken In ‘Unprovoked, Drug-Fuelled’ Attack

The right arm of Triptykon mainman Thomas Gabriel Fischer (ex-Celtic Frost) was broken this past weekend in what he describes as “an unprovoked, ultra-violent, and drug-fuelled attack.”

Comments Fischer of the attack and the healing process:

“Once my right arm, shattered in an unprovoked, ultra-violent, and drug-fuelled attack, has healed sufficiently, I will again be able to tend to the rapidly accumulating mails in a far more timely manner. According to the doctors who are tending to me, this should occur sometime in August.

As my arm is entombed in a full-length cast right now, I am rather clumsy with my utterly unprepared left hand, and writing (and everything else) is a quite challenging proposition at the moment. The hospital staff felt sufficient pity to at least provide me with a suitably black cover for the cast.

And for those inevitably curious, yes, I was ultimately able to regain the initiative and defend myself, with a broken arm and in spite of being disadvantaged due to the element of surprise and the ferocity of the attack. True to his obvious disposition as a coward, the attacker swiftly took flight when he realized I was subsequently going for his life.

I had certainly pictured my return home from the extraordinary 20th anniversary celebrations of the Museum HR Giger to take an entirely different course. Alas, this is the real world, and these are the realities of life.

I detest violence, and I equally detest the effects of alcohol and drugs which solely serve to amplify the grave shortcomings of us members of the human race.

We will not cancel any Triptykon concerts, of course, but I will only be able to sing at the moment, returning to the guitar as the speed of my recovery will permit.”

Formed in 1999 out of western Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage is often credited as one of the most influential metal acts in the last 20 years. Spending much of their career on the road, the band has enjoyed premium slots on major USA tours, including Ozzfest, Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest, Music As a Weapon, and Trespass America, as well as countless international festivals around the globe. Having shared the stage with acts ranging from Rise Against to Slayer, the diversity and versatility of their touring is unparalleled. Their songs have been featured on Guitar Hero III, Rock Band, John Madden, the Resident Evil III soundtrack, and as entrance music for WWE wrestling champ CM Punk.

Twice Grammy-nominated, Killswitch Engage has sold over 3 million records worldwide, with The End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies both certified Gold in the U.S and Silver in the UK. The band’s latest album – 2016′s Incarnate – landed at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Current Rock Albums chart, and debuted at #1 overall in Canada, #5 in Australia, and #10 in both the UK and Germany – a testament to their international reach.

2018 will mark the end of the Incarnate album cycle, which saw the group reach new heights with its collection of anthems that set the heavy music world ablaze. Co-founders of Killswitch Engage – guitarist/backing vocalist Adam Dutkiewicz, guitarist Joel Stroetzel, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and lead vocalist Jesse Leach (who returned six years ago after a decade-long absence) – plus longtime drummer Justin Foley, are currently working on a new album, with Adam Dutkiewicz handling producer duties once again. Employing their usual unrelenting determination to continually release powerfully potent work, Killswitch Engage plans to deliver another trend-resistant, timeless record that feeds the soul, touches the heart, and strengthens the mind. Stay tuned for more news about this new album coming soon!
