Triptykon Frontman Thomas Gabriel Fischer’s Arm Broken In ‘Unprovoked, Drug-Fuelled’ Attack

The right arm of Triptykon mainman Thomas Gabriel Fischer (ex-Celtic Frost) was broken this past weekend in what he describes as “an unprovoked, ultra-violent, and drug-fuelled attack.”

Comments Fischer of the attack and the healing process:

“Once my right arm, shattered in an unprovoked, ultra-violent, and drug-fuelled attack, has healed sufficiently, I will again be able to tend to the rapidly accumulating mails in a far more timely manner. According to the doctors who are tending to me, this should occur sometime in August.

As my arm is entombed in a full-length cast right now, I am rather clumsy with my utterly unprepared left hand, and writing (and everything else) is a quite challenging proposition at the moment. The hospital staff felt sufficient pity to at least provide me with a suitably black cover for the cast.

And for those inevitably curious, yes, I was ultimately able to regain the initiative and defend myself, with a broken arm and in spite of being disadvantaged due to the element of surprise and the ferocity of the attack. True to his obvious disposition as a coward, the attacker swiftly took flight when he realized I was subsequently going for his life.

I had certainly pictured my return home from the extraordinary 20th anniversary celebrations of the Museum HR Giger to take an entirely different course. Alas, this is the real world, and these are the realities of life.

I detest violence, and I equally detest the effects of alcohol and drugs which solely serve to amplify the grave shortcomings of us members of the human race.

We will not cancel any Triptykon concerts, of course, but I will only be able to sing at the moment, returning to the guitar as the speed of my recovery will permit.”

Formed in 1999 out of western Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage is often credited as one of the most influential metal acts in the last 20 years. Spending much of their career on the road, the band has enjoyed premium slots on major USA tours, including Ozzfest, Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest, Music As a Weapon, and Trespass America, as well as countless international festivals around the globe. Having shared the stage with acts ranging from Rise Against to Slayer, the diversity and versatility of their touring is unparalleled. Their songs have been featured on Guitar Hero III, Rock Band, John Madden, the Resident Evil III soundtrack, and as entrance music for WWE wrestling champ CM Punk.

Twice Grammy-nominated, Killswitch Engage has sold over 3 million records worldwide, with The End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies both certified Gold in the U.S and Silver in the UK. The band’s latest album – 2016′s Incarnate – landed at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Current Rock Albums chart, and debuted at #1 overall in Canada, #5 in Australia, and #10 in both the UK and Germany – a testament to their international reach.

2018 will mark the end of the Incarnate album cycle, which saw the group reach new heights with its collection of anthems that set the heavy music world ablaze. Co-founders of Killswitch Engage – guitarist/backing vocalist Adam Dutkiewicz, guitarist Joel Stroetzel, bassist Mike D’Antonio, and lead vocalist Jesse Leach (who returned six years ago after a decade-long absence) – plus longtime drummer Justin Foley, are currently working on a new album, with Adam Dutkiewicz handling producer duties once again. Employing their usual unrelenting determination to continually release powerfully potent work, Killswitch Engage plans to deliver another trend-resistant, timeless record that feeds the soul, touches the heart, and strengthens the mind. Rings Of Saturn Guitarist & Drummer Exit The Band Due To Lack Of Recognition For Songwriting Credit

Rings Of Saturn officially parted ways with two members this weekend with the departures of guitarist, Miles Dimitri Baker and drummer Aaron Stechauner having been officially announced past weekend.

Say Rings Of Saturn in a statement:

“We wish both Aaron and Miles the best with their departure from Rings of Saturn and all their endeavors with Interloper. Interloper will be releasing an album in the future so we urge everyone to check them out!

For Ragefest we will be bringing back our good friend, and past Rings of Saturn guitarist, Joel Omans on guitar, along with the super shredder Yo Onityan from Japan! We feel that having two amazing guitarists shred up the stage will greatly add to the live performance of the band moving forward. Mike Caputo (Desecrate the Faith) will be tearing up the kit for Ragefest so please give him a warm welcome as well!

With Joel Omans back on board, working with Lucas Mann, we feel that we can really get back to our roots with the direction of the next Rings of Saturn album revisiting what made all our past albums so experimental, heavy, and unique for our listeners.

We have also confirmed the following amazing musicians for guest slots on the next Rings of Saturn album so far with more to come. Charles Caswell (Berried Alive), Yo Onityan, Marco Pitruzzella (Lord Marco), and Dan Watson. In working with all these amazing musicians, we strongly feel that our next album will not only impress new and old fans alike, but will be our best album we put forth yet

Lastly, Lucas Mann will also be coming back on tour with the band on select tours playing either guitar or bass, so stay tuned for future announcements regarding that as they are made available. Most importantly, show some love to all the musicians showing off their incredible talents in the video below that were mentioned in this post!

Big thanks to all of our fans for their continued support of the band, and we look forward to the future”

Miles Dimitri Baker posted the following statement on his departure, in which he explains that a lack of recognition for his writing contributions to the group’s latest effort “Ulta Ulla“ played a part in his decision to exit the band:

“I will no longer be playing with Rings of Saturn.

I would like to start off by saying thank you to all the fans, friends, and great people who have come into my life the past 3 1/2 years. It has been truly a wonderful and humbling experience. I have been so lucky to have seen so many places and learned so much, all because of the people who believed in me and supported me. For that I will always be beyond grateful.

Among a list of things I could touch on involving this situation, there is only one thing I will touch on in this post. The simple fact of the matter is that I wrote the vast majority of Ultu Ulla and that is something I cannot be silent about publicly anymore. Sadly, the amount of writing I did was not made clear or accurate by any means online, in the credits in the booklet itself, or in the form of royalties.

Seeing so many people enjoy Ultu Ulla, share it, be stoked on it, and come out to our shows all over the world to hear us play it means the world to me. Each and every one of you made the hundreds of hours of writing, recording, filming, stress, sleepless nights, and emotion put into this record more worth it than I could have ever imagined.

From the fans, my friends, my family, the people behind the scenes at Nuclear Blast, to the companies who have been with me from the beginning, you guys all rule!!! Lastly, it is now time for Interloper to finish this record and get out on the road for you all. This album is going to be killer! We have grown so much as individuals and as a band that this album is going to have been absolutely worth the wait.

It won’t be long until I see all the awesome fans and friends again out on the road. I will be continuing to put out new videos, teaching Skype lessons, and interacting with all the fans. I am also very much looking forward to touring with Interloper as well as myself touring in other bands too if anyone is interested. ??

The wheels are in motion and when one chapter ends, another begins.
I love you all. Again, thank you for positively changing my life forever. See you all soon!”

Adds ex-drummer Aaron Stechauner:

“Hello everyone! I am also announcing that I will no longer be a member of Rings of Saturn. A lot of what I would have to say is along the same lines as what Miles has said, but hey! We’re in a similar boat. I’m happy to have spent the last four and a half years of my life meeting a lot of amazing fans and making some of the best friends I could ever say I have.

There is so much I could say in regards to why I have to remove myself from this situation. What I will say, though, is that as much as I have enjoyed playing shows and ripping it on stage with the band, the amount of mental health deterioration I’ve experienced in my time with the band has simply come too far.

I don’t need to go on about the specifics of what happens behind closed doors; needless to say, the reputation of the band precedes itself. You all know how things go, and you all have your own experiences to rely on in judging how you feel about Rings of Saturn.

Moving forward, expect to continue to see me flipping sticks and fucking shit up on the kit. You’re going to be hearing a lot of new @interloperofficialgram and @brazentide, as well as a lot of music and videos from myself as an individual, and any band that I end up finding myself working with.

Thank you all for your continual support ? I hope nothing but success for Ian Bearer and the band’s front of house Alex Kendrick.”

Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard sign to Metal Blade Records

– April 10th, 2018 –

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the addition of epic melodic death metallers Nothgard from Germany to its roster! The Bavarian quartet has signed a multiple album deal with Metal Blade and is right now in the middle of recording their tentative new album, to be released during the second half of 2018!

Comments Nothgard singer/guitarist Dom R. Crey: “We are really happy to announce the signing with the renowned label Metal Blade Records. For years we have had an eye on the countless and fantastic releases Metal Blade has launched. Eventually we can call ourselves part of this family, something that makes us really proud. We are looking forward to a great collaboration and cannot wait to usher into a new era of Nothgard.”

Dom is also presenting us an outlook on the upcoming new Nothgard album: “This exciting chapter will be initiated by a new studio album! In the history of the band we have never worked harder on an album. And to be honest we never had a clearer view on our approach of composing and on our sound. We listened to both, our fans and ourselves. We have clearly analyzed our strength and how to transfer this awareness to our material. Right now tons of work are still laying ahead of us and in the end our fans will judge the result. But let me tell you: As a band we are more than happy about the outcome so far and can’t wait to present it to the rest of the World!”

Founded in 2008 by singer and lead guitarist Dom R. Crey, Nothgard dragged along the winning ways since their debut album, Warhorns Of Midgard, from 2011. The high technical quality of their guitar work and the epic orchestration of their melodic death metal is exciting to fans and critics alike. In 2014, the band released another epic milestone of deadly metal, memorable melodies and influences from both neo-classical and folk music called Age Of Pandora. After the release, Nothgard finally signed to Noise Art Records who released the band’s latest album, The Sinner’s Sake, their most serious approach yet to enter the melodic death metal throne. On The Sinner’s Sake, deadly riffs meet playful, catchy lead guitars, while the epic orchestration arranges for a cinematic atmosphere that will bring goosebumps to your skin! Completed by Dom R. Crey’s raw vocals, Nothgard‘s sound is both stormy-spectacular and full of a sublime atmosphere. With The Sinner’s Sake, Nothgard set off into the most spectacular chapter in the band’s history so far. And the best is yet to come!

Nothgard line-up:
Dom R. Crey – Vocals, Lead Guitar, Studio Keyboards
Skaahl – Guitars
Nico Kolja – Bass
Felix Indra – Drums

Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014′s Where Greater Men Have Fallen is a more raw, “old school sounding” record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as “a direct energy” and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of tragedy and might like no one else. Likewise, the evolution in their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that Exile Amongst The Ruins is essential listening for both their long term faithful and those only now drawn into their world.

The Crown lands on international charts with new album, ‘Cobra Speed Venom’

– March 28th, 2018 –

The Crown recently released their new album, Cobra Speed Venom, via Metal Blade Records; for their efforts, the band has now entered the international charts! See below for all positions:

#34 Official German Album Charts (Germany)
#99 Official Swiss Album Charts (Switzerland)
#26 Current Hard Music Albums (USA)
#41 Top New Artist Albums (USA)
#97 Record Label Independent Current Albums (USA)
#83 Top Hard Music Charts (Canada)

The Crown comments: “Really?? 34th most selling album in Germany last week? Entering Top 100 in Switzerland? Our raw untamed punkish styled Death/Thrash Metal?? I guess there’s hope for humanity after all! Or maybe this proves the opposite 😉 A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!”

To preview and purchase Cobra Speed Venom, please visit: metalblade.com/thecrown

With their motivation at an all-time high, The Crown spent most of 2017 intensely rehearsing 13 new songs. They eventually entered the classic Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordstrom to record what would become their new album, Cobra Speed Venom. The sound is massive, brutal and a real punch in the face. Extreme speed and aggression mixed with classic heavy metal and rock n’ roll, which really shows that The Crown has no boundaries. The apocalyptic theme of the lyrics and music also fits perfectly with the outstanding artwork of Christian Sloan Hall.

After 27 years, the band is still motivated to create a classic piece of art – and together with Metal Blade Records once again, the vision is real.

The Crown live:
Apr. 13 – Dublin, Ireland – Voodoo Lounge
Apr. 14 – Leeds, UK – Wrath Fest
Apr. 15 – London, UK – The Underworld Camden
May 12 – Gothenburg, Sweden – Sticky Fingers
May 26 – Grangesberg, Sweden – Gamrocken
Oct. 6 – Hoogeveen, Netherlands – Graveland

Magnus Olsfelt – Bass
Marko Tervonen – Guitar
Robin Sorqvist – Lead guitar and backing vocals
Henrik Axelsson – Drums

Rivers of Nihil launches behind-the-scenes clip for latest video, “A Home”

– March 21st, 2018 –

Last week, Rivers of Nihil released their third full-length, Where Owls Know My Name, via Metal Blade Records, along with a video for the album track, “A Home”. Guitarist Jonathan Topore filmed a behind-the-scenes documentary of the video shoot for “A Home,” which can be seen now at: youtube.com/watch?v=dlZe-aXc4Ck

To watch “A Home” [directed by David Brodsky (www.davidsbrodsky.com)] and purchase Where Owls Know My Name, please visit: metalblade.com/riversofnihil

Where Owls Know My Name reunites Rivers of Nihil with Monarchy producer Carson Slovak (August Burns Red, The Last Ten Seconds of Life) and Dan Seagrave, the storied artist behind such celebrated album covers as Entombed‘s Left Hand Path and Suffocation‘s Effigy of the Forgotten. The result is the Reading, PA quintet’s most visceral, accomplished, and satisfying offering to-date.

Guitarist Brody Uttley comments:
“This record is Rivers of Nihil being exactly who we want to be. Many bands get stuck in a comfortable routine of releasing the same album over and over again. Constantly relying on the same familiar formula may work for some bands, but it does not work for us. Music is art, and art is ever-changing. Without change, there is no progress. Without progress, the very fire that powers art and expression will die. This record is the sound of where we come from, where we are, and where we are going.”

Adds bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs:
“This time around, the lyrics feel a little more personal than on previous albums. The story picks up several millennia after the events of ‘Monarchy‘, where one person still remains alive, chosen by the planet to be the sole intelligent witness of its ultimate fate. But ‘Where Owls Know My Name‘ is less about overarching narrative than our previous albums. The scenario is just a backdrop for the more emotional material we tried to put forth this time around. Ultimately, this is an album about loss, getting older, and reaching a point where death becomes a much more present part of your life.”
