Danko Jones Posts New Lyric Video “I’m In A Band” Online

With just six weeks left until the release of their new album, “A Rock Supreme,” Canadian hard rock trio Danko Jones has unveiled a lyric video for the album’s infectious opening track, “I’m In A Band.” Check it out below.

In addition to setting the tone perfectly for the 11-track, all-killer/no-filler A Rock Supreme, “I’m In A Band” is an autobiographical mission statement that aptly captures front man Danko Jones’ limitless passion for all things rock from its opening words: “I’m in a band, and I love it / All I want to do is play my guitar and rock and roll.” The song can now be streamed below, or on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms.

“A Rock Supreme,” which was produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Biffy Clyro), is due out April 26 via M-Theory Audio (U.S.), Rise Above (UK), Indica (Canada, AU, NZ) and AFM (rest of the world).

Eluveitie Posts New Album “Ategnatos” Trailer Online

We all wade through archetypes. We all ARE archetypes. Distant echoes of a life both primeval and noble. To embrace these archetypes, to accept them not only as a part of life but as life itself is what some may call enlightenment, some peace of mind. Eluveitie call it Ategnatos. And by using their longest gap between two metal albums to gather momentum, they just forged their strongest album around it. The new album, Ategnatos, will be released on April 5th via Nuclear Blast. Check out the first official video trailer below.

The band states: “Ategnatos probably became our most organic album by all accounts. It is the result of a thoroughly intuitive process, where we gave creativity full scope. And during this process quite some back-to-the-roots developments emerged in diverse aspects. Many riffs off Ategnatos reminds on the guitar work on Slania.

“Following our gut feeling we brought the mixing duties back to Jens Bogren’s Fascination Street Studios, where our Nuclear Blast debut was produced. And regarding the album artwork it soon became very clear to us, that we’d love to work with the fabulous Travis Smith (www.seempieces.com) again, who already created the front covers of our albums Spirit (14 years ago!) and Everything Remains As It Never Was. And we’re honestly excited with the result! The frontcover shows a spectacular scenery in central Switzerland, a so-called ‘vulva cave’, as it was sought to mark sacred rites of fertility and celebrations of life in ancient times! The artwork mystically and beautifully expresses the Ategnatos very core and essence! Once again it was a pleasure to work with Travis!”

Recordings of Ategnatos took place in their beloved New Sound Studio with their engineer of choice Tommy Vetterli. “Yet it was radically different as we only had four weeks to record this time around – as compared to the eight weeks we had for Origins.” By taking mixing duties to the skilled hand of renowned studio wizard Jens Bogren in his Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, Eluveitie returned to the very spot where they mixed their now legendary Slania album more than ten years ago.

With Ategnatos, the dedicated nine-piece not only worked with a real string quartet (a premiere!) and granted Fabienne Erni’s sublime mastery of the harp the room it deserved; they also undertook a holistic upgrade resulting in some of the most catchy, most aggressive or most epic tunes the Swiss metal nobility has ever offered.

Grand Magus Reveals New Album “Wolf God” Details

The riff gods are back! A little more than two years have passed since the great “Sword Songs” album was released, but Grand Magus can never quench their thirst for action. Accordingly, the Heavy Metal giants started to develop new songs as fast as possible after their last record.

The new album “Wolf God” will be released on April 19th, 2019 via Nuclear Blast!

“Wolf God” rises over the Heavy Metal scene majestically and lets the guitar riffs speak for themselves. The groove and heaviness that were featured on the successful predecessor can also be found on the new, ninth studio album which once again holds a number of future classics.

This stunning new cover artwork was created by acclaimed artist Anthony Roberts.

The band comments:
“For the third time, the magic skill and imagination of Anthony Roberts has given birth to the cover artwork for a Grand Magus album. This time the forest, the moon and obviously the wolf take center stage. Not just any wolf though… beware his fury. This is the WOLF GOD!”

Recorded in Sweetspot Studio in Sweden, together with producer Staffan Karlsson (Arch Enemy, Firewind, Spiritual Beggars), the corner stone was laid for another triumphal procession. As the majority of the songs were recorded on the first take, they have an honest, diverse and yet down-to-earth sound that envelops the trio’s true power.

More info coming soon. Stay tuned!

Gatekeeper Posts New Music Video “Grey Maiden” Online

Canadian true metal force Gatekeeper have debuted a music video for the title track from their new EP “Grey Maiden,” set for release on February 22nd via Cruz Del Sur Music. You can check it out below.

Featuring two brand-new compositions, a cover song and a track re-recorded from their first demo, Grey Maiden picks right up where the band’s acclaimed East Of Sun first full-length left off. The groundswell of support in North America and abroad – including the selling out of the vinyl and CD pressing of East Of Sun within six months – spurred Gatekeeper to satiate their ever-growing fanbase with a new release.

“We’ve been working harder and faster than ever since all of this started happening,” says guitarist and founding member Geoff Blackwell. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned from spending the past ten-plus years in bands, it’s that momentum is your greatest resource and you’ve gotta pour gasoline on the little fires that pop up in your career.”

According to Blackwell, Gatekeeper (who are rounded out by vocalist Jean-Pierre, lead guitarist Kenny Kroecher, bassist David Messier and drummer Tommy Tro) has performed more shows in 2018 than all other years of the band combined, which has started to influence their songwriting. While East Of Sun is considered by many fans to get only better with each passing listen, the songs on Grey Maiden are some of the band’s most immediate compositions to date. However, there are some twists afoot.

“The title track might be our best song yet,” notes Blackwell. “It’s got a massive chorus, intricate vocal lines and catchy, pummelling riffs. We re-recorded the song ‘Tale Of Twins’, which is an old favorite that we’ve been playing lately. It’s finally gotten the recording and performance quality that the song deserves! JP did a great job with the singing on this one.

“‘Moss’ is a big departure from our other material,” he continues. “It’s a soft, finger-picked acoustic ballad featuring a lilting guitar pattern inspired by traditional folk music with fantasy-tinged lyrics. We also brought in a guest violinist to fill in the gaps. It’s much different than anything else we’ve done, but I think it makes perfect sense for Gatekeeper. Lastly, we covered an obscure Nwobhm song by a band named Tredegar called ‘Richard III’. They’re a very cool, but forgotten band from Wales who had ex-members of Budgie in their ranks. They were a very early example of epic metal and we decided that it would be a good match for us. Kenny and I took some liberties with the guitar arrangement.”

Gatekeeper’s future plans include a tour of Europe in support of “Grey Maiden,” including spots on key festivals such as Hell Of Hammaburg, Swordbrothers and Up The Hammers. In addition to more live dates in their home territory of Canada, Gatekeeper will buckle down and get to work on their second LP, which, according to Blackwell, will feature material contributed by the entire band. But, before the calendar jumps over to 2019, some reflection of 2018 is warranted, a year that saw Gatekeeper emerge as one of the best new traditional metal hopefuls in recent memory.

“Obviously we all hoped the album would do well and I figured that we’d make a few sales and play some fun shows here and there,” closes Blackwell. “But, I absolutely never expected us to sell out the first vinyl and CD pressing so quickly. That’s the kind of stuff that usually happens to other people. The outpouring of support from our new friends and fans on social media and streaming platforms like YouTube has been huge, too.”

Overkill Posts New Lyric Video “Head Of A Pin” Online

Legendary New Jersey thrashers Overkill will unleash their 19th studio record, “The Wings Of War,” on February 22, 2019, via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band has released the second single entitled, ‘Head Of A Pin’. Watch the lyric video below.

Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth comments, “‘Head of a Pin’ took a long time to come together, it is probably the tune that went through the most changes and the last one I finished. Looking back on its development, the time invested was all well worth it. The tonality of the guitar shines on it and the song goes ‘other places’, traditional with a touch of the down-low-dirty riff, and a sing-along chorus…personally, one of my favorites off ‘The Wings of War.'”
