Gloryhammer Changes Name To Gloryhammer Of Steel

Due to copyright and trademark issues, the band formerly known as Gloryhammer has changed its name to Gloryhammer of Steel.

The band members consider this a great new start, reflecting the emboldened and increasingly grandiose direction that their music has taken. “The power of hoots will burn brighter than ever before,” says bassist/songwriter James Cartwright. Keyboardist/songwriter Christopher Bowes adds, “The name Gloryhammer of Steel better represents the energy that has always been present in this band and its music.”

With a new record company in Napalm Records, a new tour planned and a new album on the way, Gloryhammer of Steel will continue to explore musical fantasy worlds with the precision musicianship and unique symphonic concepts that their fans have come to expect and adore. Fresh on the heels of the band’s first live album release, “Live In Dundee 2013 – The Dark Prophecy,” a new name and renewed vigor ensure that Gloryhammer of Steel still holds the passion and power that have always been associated with the band’s music.

Christopher Bowes Releases “Christmas At The Organ”

In celebration of the holidays and apparently because baby Jesus may have also been a pirate, Christopher Bowes of Alestorm and Gloryhammer has released his own Christmas album “Christmas at the Organ.”

Check out the ridiculous video for “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” below (how often does that hymn feature the word “fuck” in it?).

Alestorm’s Christopher Bowes Unleashes New Power Metal Band Gloryhammer

Alestorm vocalist/keyboardist Christopher Bowes has unleashed his new heroic fantasy power metal project Gloryhammer with fellow Alestorm guitarist Paul Templing and Emerald vocalist Thomas Winkler. The debut release “Tales From The Kingdom of Fife” is due out on Napalm Records this year.

The press release on the band’s official website reads as follows:

A highland realm of mystery, wonder, and epic battles from an ancient time, shrouded by magical mists. A time of dragons and wizards, and enchanted weapons. These are the legends of the Kingdom of Fife, when the great hero Angus McFife waged an epic war against the evil wizard Zargothrax, to free the people of Dundee in the name of glory and steel. These are the legends of GLORYHAMMER!

The ‘Heroic Fantasy Power Metal’ band GLORYHAMMER is the new project formed by Christopher Bowes, the mastermind behind pirate-metal sensation ALESTORM, with a desire to explore the more symphonic and epic side of metal. The band’s debut album ‘Tales from the Kingdom of Fife’, coming soon on Napalm Records, will tell an original story based in an alternate-history medieval Scotland, where magic and dark sorcery reigns supreme. A concept of such epic proportions requires a truly talented vocalist, and for this purpose Thomas Winkler from Swiss power metal band EMERALD was hired to provide majestic soaring vocals. The lineup is completed by Paul Templing, James Cartwright, and Ben Turk, who honed their battle skills in various underground UK metal bands. GLORYHAMMER shall be a band like no other… prepare for the epic battle of a lifetime!

The line up of Gloryhammer is:

Christopher Bowes (Alestorm) – Keyboards
Thomas Winkler (Emerald)- Vocals
Paul Templing (Alestorm) – Guitars
James Cartwright – Bass
Ben Turk – Drums
