Vuur Releases “My Champion – Berlin” Music Video

Anneke van Giersbergen’s new band Vuur is set to release debut album “In This Moment We Are Free – Cities” on October 20th, 2017. Now the group is pleased to reveal an official video for new single “My Champion – Berlin.”

Anneke comments: “This song is the opening track of our debut album and it serves as a kind of master of ceremonies. It’s both heavy and melodic, it showcases the technical abilities of the band, but you can still sing along to it. That’s basically the kind of album I wanted to make. Our guitar player Jord Otto wrote the song and collaborated with producer Joost van den Broek to finalise it. I wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies.

“This song is about Berlin after World War II. The goddess on the Berlin Victory Column was raised to commemorate military victories, but in the song the city speaks to her and is asking her for help to overcome troubled times. I wanted to make a performance video, one that presents the band as a group that is about music and plays with their heart and soul. That’s what we are and I am really proud of this band.”

01. My Champion – Berlin
02. Time – Rotterdam
03. The Martyr And The Saint – Beirut
04. The Fire – San Francisco
05. Freedom – Rio
06. Days Go By – London
07. Sail Away – Santiago
08. Valley Of Diamonds – Mexico City

Vuur Posts “In This Moment We Are Free – Cities” Trailer, Reveals Track Listing

Anneke van Giersbergen’s new band Vuur just unveiled the cover artwork and track listing for forthcoming debut album, “In This Moment We Are Free – Cities.” The 11-track LP is due for release on October 20th via InsideOut Music and a teaser trailer featuring snippets from the release can be heard below.

The album will be available on special edition CD digipak, gatefold 2LP + CD (including etching on side D) & digital download. Pre-orders start today via this location.

Regarding the cover artwork, band founder Anneke says: “The cover is designed by Black & Finch with whom I’ve previously worked on the ‘Verloren Verleden’ release.

“The lyrical themes of this album revolve around cities and freedom. Exposure to big cities can be overwhelming and you can feel engulfed by everything around you. At the same time it’s easy to be a stranger in a big city and for me that brings out a feeling of freedom as well.

“This past year I’ve thought a lot about the virtues of rural versus urban life, since me and my family are moving back to the city. It’s very exciting, but at the same time I know that sense of urban solitude from past experiences. The cover artwork represents this duality.”

Helheim Releases “Ymr” Music Video

After releasing ninth full-length album “landwarijaR,” Norwegian Viking metal crew Helheim now unleashes a second video from the album. Check out “Ymr” below.

Like the preceding video for “Baklengs mot intet,” new clip “Ymr” was directed by Guilherme Henriques, and this time the band concentrates on live footage from Inside Live & Rock Café bt Mathis Backe interspersed with film of some of the glorious scenery that surrounds Helheim’s home town of Bergen.

Helheim’s V’gandr explains: “With ‘Ymr’ Helheim explores the terrain that might result from the complete enlightenment of knowledge. The tree of life is the symbol of this path and you may wonder if this enlightenment is of a positive or of a negative energy. When the One with the one eye closes it, that is when we must open up ours and see what lies ahead. ‘Ymr’ is the primal scream, the essence of man and to grow from there you have to climb. Whereas ‘Baklengs mot intet’ showed no hope in its cloak of negativity, ‘Ymr’ might kindle a tiny spark – but that’s up to the eye of the beholder or should I say, the ears of the listener.”

Judas The Dancer “Maradona Talking Heads” Video

Italian bizarro post-metal group Judas The Dancer just launched a lyric video for the song “Maradona Talking Heads,” taken from the band’s upcoming EP release “Post Pop Violence.” The video is directed by Viscera Visions, and is available below.

The band previously commented that the story of “Maradona Talking Heads” is a “criticism to our country where mediocrity often prevails; it thrives behind an absurd sense of superiority, derived from our glorious past… which is just that: past.”

Talking further about what inspired the title of the song and the story, Judas The Dancer states: “When movie director Paolo Sorrentino was called on the stage to receive his (well deserved) Oscar, he pronounced a rather scarce speech, basically a silly list of far-fetched sources of inspiration. When we heard that, we thought it was a perfect portrayal of the typical Italian attitude: always try to be easy going and enjoyable, often giving up the chance to do or say something useful, important. The title of our song resonates with that exact attitude.

“If we really wanted to trace this attitude down our past history (meaning our tendency to always justify ourselves for our faults instead of facing them), we’d have plenty of clichés to tell. The only truth, though, is our country has been stuck for a while now… Old fashions, old habits. We have lived on inherited glory for too long and now that we’re getting short of it we try to replace it with smoke and tricks. Just like this answer, see? Smoky and quite empty (we, as Italians, must be biased after all).”

Bardus Posts Full “Stella Porta” Album Online

The entire “Stella Porta” album from Philadelphia’s Bardus is streaming today, unloading the avalanche of intoxicated sludge residue upon the masses as the record is prepared for proper release later this week.

Bardus comments: “We chose to work with Steve Poponi at The Gradwell House Studio in Haddon Heights, New Jersey to record this record. We had been sitting on these songs for a while and were excited to get them out. This record is an extension of who we are as people, and as a band. We use this band as an escape and outlet from real life and try to create our own world of sounds in the process. We wanted to make a heavy record without offending people’s ears, but more so, inviting them in.”

New album “Stella Porta” will be released on CD and digitally through Solar Flare Records this Friday, April 1st. A listing of upcoming tour dates is also avaialble after the jump.
