New Video Clip “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” Posted By Tarja

It may be early to ring in the season, but Tarja’s new single and video clip for the haunting version of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” is more akin to Halloween than Christmas. Check out the clip in the player below.

The song is taken from the new album “From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas)” which will be released on November 17th via earMusic.

The album includes 11 Christmas classics and brings them to a never-before-seen level, uniquely blending Tarja’s classically-trained voice with darker gothic influences.

Besides covering classic carols, “From Spirits and Ghosts” also features a twelfth track, the brand new original song “Together.” This song is aligned with the dark sound of the album and embodies the theme of ghosts and mysticism throughout, in a brilliant, Tarja-styled manner.

The track listing is:

1. O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
2. Together
3. We Three Kings
4. Deck The Halls
5. Pie Jesu
6. Amazing Grace
7. O Tannenbaum
8. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
9. God Rest Ye
10. Feliz Navidad
11. What Child Is This
12. We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Akercocke Premieres Trailer For New Album “Renaissance In Extremis”

The official trailer for “Renaissance In Extremis”, the sixth full-length album from London’s death metal outfit Akercocke, can be seen below. Due on August 25 via Peaceville Records, the disc was mixed by Neil Kernon (Nile, Deicide) and mastered by Alan Douches (Death, Misfits, Cro-Mags) at West West Side Music.

Describes the label Akercocke’s forthcoming release:

“A comprehensive reinvention and expansion of the band’s multifarious sound, Renaissance In Extremis delivers euphoric force and mind-boggling weirdness. There are scything thrash and death metal riffs in abundance, plus warped but elegant melodies and clouds of ugly dissonance; moments of unsettling calm and quiet. Renaissance In Extremis is a bold, bullish and belligerent statement of creative intent: metal’s dark spirit reborn in an explosion of bright ideas and inspirational fury.”

“Renaissance In Extremis” track listing:

01. Disappear
02. Unbound By Sin
03. Insentience
04. First To Leave The Funeral
05. Familiar Ghosts
06. A Final Glance Back Before Departing
07. One Chapter Closing For Another To Begin
08. Inner Sanctum
09. A Particularly Cold Sept

Eyes Wide Open Posts “You Still Are You” Video

Following the release of two previous singles from upcoming album “And So It Begins,” Eyes Wide Open is now back with an animated video for latest offering “You Still Are You.”

Vocalist Erik Engstrand states: “This track is about the terrible past of someone who was bullied and now carries this burden for life. It describes how he has built an impenetrable wall of self contempt to protect himself from further disappointment. When someone tells them they are good enough, they won’t hear it. Don’t let the ghosts haunt you forever, you still are you.”

New album “And So It Begins” will be released on September 1st, 2017 via Sony Music Distribution and Headbang Entertainment.

Angelseed Releases “Dancing With The Ghosts” Music Video

“Dancing With The Ghosts,” the brand new cinematic video from Croatian symphonic metal band Angelseed, can be seen below.

The clip was filmed in Zadar by Igor Goic and Kreathia Studio. The storyline is a slightly twisted exploration on the theme of soul cages. The fundamental idea of the storyboard is based on the five elements philosophy in Japanese Buddhism, known as godai, whose elements are Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void. Opposed to the five elements, there’s a diabolical and materialistic demon queen, the creator of earthly imprisonment.

Drummer Jurica Baljak explains: “It’s a metaphorical journey into the core of personal darkness where each element is found stranded in its own prison. It represents the dichotomy of life and death through the image of acceptance, finding purpose and struggle with demons in search for redemption. This video is about the journey of mankind.”

The “Dancing With The Ghosts” track comes off Angelseed’s “Crimson Dyed Abyss,” which was released in 2015 via Sliptrick Records. Stay tuned for info on a new album, due out in 2018.

Video Clip For New Album Title Song “Paradigms Lost” Available From Worselder

French heavy thrash/stoner group Worselder released the new official video today. It’s the first from the forthcoming album “Paradigms Lost” and it happens to be the title track, a real statement of intent. “Paradigms Lost” will be released on June 1st via Sliptrick Records.

The video presents a young girl who remembers her parents, Cathars burnt at the stake. After a ritual, she collects their ashes and walks to the walls of Montsegur, where she gives them the freedom they headed for. She finally disappears with the ghosts of her parents… Through the imagery of Cathars, the song is an allegory of all religious fights and an hymn to the freedom of thought.
