Týr is currently finishing work on their eighth studio album, due out fall 2018 via Metal Blade Records. This upcoming record will be the follow-up to the band’s critically claimed full-length, Valkyrja, which was released in 2013. The concept behind Valkyrja involves a story based around a nameless, Viking-era warrior, who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Folkvangr, the home of Freyja – the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Front man and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain: “The woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women.”

U.S. Visa Process Claims Latest Victim – Gloryhammer Nixed From ProgPower USA, Replacement Announced

U.K. power metal act Gloryhammer were forced to cancel out on the upcoming sold out annual ProgPower USA festival, which commences on Wednesday, September 7th. The band was slated to perform on Thursday, September 8th as part of Day 2 along with Pyramaze, Circus Maximus and Blind Guardian.

A replacement was announced moments ago – Seattle’s Ghost Ship Octavius, which features Ashes of Ares drummer Van Williams (ex-Nevermore).

Gloryhammer released a statement: “My friends, we have grave news. Due to unusual and unprecedented delays in the processing of working visas for the USA necessary to the bands performance, we regret to inform our fans that we will not be performing at Prog Power USA in Atlanta, or at the Whiskey-a-Go-Go in Los Angeles next week. This comes as great disappointment to everyone involved, not least of all us in Gloryhammer, as we have invested vast amounts of time and money in trying to make this happen. In no way, shape or form, are the show promoters responsible for this, and we really hope to make it up to them (and all of you fans) as soon as we can.

“The positive news is that we are planning to make this up early next year with our first full headlining tour in North America…more details to come.”

ProgPower USA promoters Milton Mendonca and Nathan Block commented on the addition of Ghost Ship Octavius: “We’d like to welcome GSO to the family and extend our sincere thanks for stepping up to the plate on such short notice.”

Ghost Ship Octavius will step into the opening slot for Day 2. The full revised lineup for the festival is:

Wednesday (September 7, 2016):

Lord (Australia)

Details Of New Album “Ghost Ship” Unveiled By Theocracy

Athens, Georgia-based melodic metal band Theocracy will release the new album “Ghost Ship” on October 28th in Europe and North America through Ulterium Records. Information on different editions and formats will be announced soon.

With “Ghost Ship,” Theocracy perfects the lively and fully-realized sound of “As the World Bleeds,” delivering 10 muscular and streamlined tracks that never lose focus and combine for one memorable journey. You like mid-tempo singalong anthems? Try the “Ghost Ship” title track. Thrashy rhythms and intensity? “The Wonder of It All” should be to your liking. Emotional ballads with huge melodic hooks? Go “Around the World and Back.” Or if you prefer epic, progressive tracks that do all these things and more, 10-minute album closer “Easter” is sure to be a favorite. Each song on “Ghost Ship” stands alone and has a unique signature, but every moment sounds unmistakably like Theocracy.

“So many kids were coming up to us after shows and telling us their stories,” says Theocracy vocalist Matt Smith. “A lot of them were searching for purpose and a place to fit in, and having grown up as an awkward and unpopular kid myself, their words really stuck with me. I started thinking about what a band of misfits Jesus’ disciples were: fishermen, tax collectors, and people of little consequence in the eyes of the world. Sometimes the ones most people don’t see, or choose to look straight through—the ghosts of society, as it were, dead to the world—end up having the biggest impact. That’s where the title and idea for Ghost Ship came from: all the misfits, the uncool, the outcasts, there is a place where you do fit in. Although Ghost Ship is not a concept album, this is a recurring theme, particularly in the title track and ‘Castaway.’”

The track list for “Ghost Ship” is:

1. Paper Tiger
2. Ghost Ship
3. The Wonder Of It All
4. Wishing Well
5. Around the World and Back
6. Stir the Embers
7. A Call To Arms
8. Currency In A Bankrupt World
9. Castaway
10. Easter
