Suicide Silence Announces “The Cleansing” 10th Anniversary Tour

One of the most prolific albums in the history of the deathcore genre is easily Suicide Silence’s debut offering, “The Cleansing,” originally released on September 18th, 2007 and debuting at #94 on the Billboard Top 200 charts.

Suicide Silence will officially commemorate the album’s special 10 year anniversary release by embarking on a lengthy North America tour performing the album is its entirety every night. This touring package will feature Upon A Burning Body, Winds of Plague (on select dates), Slaughter To Prevail, and Prison. It kicks off November 7th in Oakland and wraps up December 17th in Hollywood, CA.

Mark Heylmun (guitars) states: “10 fucking years!! ‘The Cleansing’ was a record we wrote when most of us were in our early 20’s. I was in my teens still! My has the time flown by. All we knew back then was we wanted to offend ppl and piss in the face of the mainstream (Dying Fetus pun intended). We’ve wanted to do a commemorative tour for this record for years now and the time has come. ‘The Cleansing’ broke us into the metal world and the record came from a very special place, a fresh place, a place that words fail when I try to describe it, and without it…well we wouldn’t be here attempting to describe it.

“Mitch had a vision for this record, he wanted to set a standard for our scene and in my eyes he created much much more. Since his passing, Eddie has payed homage to Mitch’s vox on this record every night. It’s something very close to our hearts to have Eddie singing these songs with us. Mitch and Eddie inspired each other, exchanged vocal tips, and both have the passion for the most brutal sounds you can humanly make and it’s going to be an amazing show for us and for you. Emotions will be high, maybe we will be high too, you don’t want to miss this. Let’s fucking party! Come celebrate with us cuz this will only happen once!”

Lyric Video For New Song “Serenade Of Slitting Throats” Premiered By Sicarius, New Album Artwork Exposed

Sicarius premiered the title track from the upcoming new album “Serenade of Slitting Throats” over at Invisible Oranges at this location or by simply pressing play in the player at the bottom. In addition, the band unveiled the artwork for the album (shown below).

“This is probably my favorite track on the album,” explains guitarist Argyris. “It just has everything in it — power, speed, violence, and atmosphere. It’s a very well-rounded hitter that I’m very proud of both on a musical standpoint and a lyrical one. It just flowed together on its own when I composed it. It made perfect sense to make it the flagship track of the album, and unleash it first as an appropriate means of showcasing where Sicarius is at first glance. It swallows you up in a wave of violence and grabs you by the throat and only relents at the end, which symbolizes the death of the quarry.”

“The lyric video was directed by David Thelen. I saw his work for the German band Attic and thought it was fantastic. His lyric videos are gritty yet well composed. We were kind of in a pinch and he was very kind to fit us into his schedule and delivered a great piece. He captured the vision that myself and album artist/designer Misanthropic Art had for the visual aspect. We couldn’t be happier.”

“Serenade of Slitting Throats” will be released via M-Theory Audio on Friday October 13th. The album can be pre-ordered now via the label shop over here and will be available on CD, as well as a limited edition old-school cassette with red shell (only 100 copies available) and exclusive t-shirt bundle options.

“I’m excited to finally be able to reveal the album artwork, as I’m sure Misanthropic Art is as well, as he’s been waiting patiently for the work he’s done for this album to come out,” tells Argyris. “I love working with Chris there because his visual conceptions are very dark and atmospheric, and he’s one of the easiest people to work with. When it came time to design the album I pretty much gave him free reign. I told him that I wanted the album art to FEEL like those classic 2nd wave black metal albums I grew up admiring. I think he nailed it. He listened to a few songs off the album and what he envisioned, he put ink to paper and we were honored by the end result.”

Produced by Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh), “Serenade of Slitting Throats” was recorded at Barracks Studio in Southern California. Expect a murderous, bloodthirsty and ultra-violent black metal assault paying homage to classic, black metal bands, like Mayhem, Bathory, Gorgoroth and Rotting Christ, yet also injecting a modern high-velocity method to delivering bludgeoning and savage music.

Sun Of The Sleepless Premieres New Song “The Owl” From Upcoming New Album “To the Elements”

Black metal unit Sun Of The Sleepless premieres a new song entitled “The Owl”, taken from the upcoming new album “To the Elements”, which will be released by Prophecy Productions in a variety of formats: as a digipak CD (with a 12-page booklet), a gatefold LP (on both black and limited silver vinyl), and as a collector’s 2xCD box (which includes the digipak CD, the out-of-print 1999 MCD Poems To The Wretches Hearts in a cardsleeve, a patch, and an autographed, hand-numbered certificate in a hotfoil-embossed box).

Check out now “The Owl” below.

Explains Sun Of The Sleepless:

“‘The Owl‘ is actually the first song that was written and recorded for the album. The verse riff/main theme of this song was the spark that lit the fire, so to speak. This was also the first song I recorded the drums for and it made me realize that Black Metal drumming is even more exhausting than I remembered it to be from — wait…18 years ago. ‘The Owl‘ is a hymn to the nocturnal self. The Owl as a symbol for individuality (in German we use the word “Kauz” — tawny owl — to describe a pariah) but also wisdom, superiority — the unrelenting spirit of the night. Musically, I really wanted to have this ‘lonesome nighttime atmosphere’ to be the absolute focus of this song. It draws elements from Empyrium (how come?), old The 3rd and the Mortal, Emperor and influences by some of the more melodic Swedish Black Metal Bands too. One of my favorites for sure. Sublime, free, forever at night — The Owl”
