Wildspeaker Posts New Song “Cinders”

Dallas-based blackened crust band Wildspeaker will release upcoming album, “Spreading Adder,” on June 23rd via Prosthetic Records. The blistering 11 track album offers a non-stop grind of driving riffs and thick, weighty atmosphere.

Thematically and lyrically, “Spreading Adder” focuses on the resilience of nature and downfall of human civilization. Check out new track “Cinders” below.

Vocalist Natalie Kahan says, “‘Cinders’ is about the anxiety and unease of changing states. Ultimately, we are still able to burn after the chaos around us cools. The song starts out pummeling fast then becomes punishing and slow. There are a lot of dark layers and tension to ‘Cinders’ that’ll make you clench your teeth.”

Wildspeaker consists of Kahan, guitarists Nelson Favela and Zak Pitts, bassist Garry Brents (Cara Neir), and drummer Ricky Rivera. Self-produced in Brents’ home studio, Spreading Adder will be released on LP, CD and all digital formats. Pre-orders are online here.

Wildspeaker Signs With Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records is pleased to add Dallas, TX’s Wildspeaker to the label’s ever expanding roster. The blackened crust band consists of vocalist Natalie Kahan, guitarists Nelson Favela and Zak Pitts, bassist Garry Brents (Cara Neir), and drummer Ricky Rivera.

Since forming in 2014, Wildspeaker has several independent releases, as well as through different labels. Most recent album, “Guilt and His Reflection,” is a split with crust/death/blackened duo Cara Neir on Broken Limbs Recordings.

Now signed to Prosthetic, Wildspeaker is currently writing and recording for a second full-length album, expected to drop in the spring of 2017. Vocalist Kahan comments on the singing and upcoming album:

“Prosthetic Records has put out so many of our favorite bands. It’s an honor to become part of the current roster with North, Deathrite, Skeletonwitch, and so many others. I think Wildspeaker’s newest album will be our strongest material yet. We can’t wait to share it. See you on the road!”

Kaliya Streaming New Song “Left For Dead”

Texas death grinders Kaliya will be releasing a new self titled album on March 3rd. The recording was done by Garry Brents and mastered by Proscriptor of Absu.

In anticipation of the new effort Kaliya offers you a first taste of it with the track titled “Left For Dead” streaming below.

Explains guitarist Ben on the story behind “Left For Dead”:

“Literal Meaning: Tyler (vocalist) works at a restaurant/bar and this elderly alcoholic woman would come in as a regular with bruises and cuts on her from her being home by herself, drunk and falling down frequently. One of these falls ended up killing her and he just thought it was a gross story that would fit with some gross sounding music. Symbolic Meaning: Basically how things like substance abuse can lead people to a state of isolation and despair that eventually kills them. People can self medicate and push others away to the point that they are literally “Left for Dead”. I don’t consider our band to have a real “message” and we certainly aren’t preaching but we’ve had friends go through this stuff and it made for a cool set of lyrics.”

Cleric Streaming Debut LP “Gratum Inferno”

A fairly brand new name to the genre, Dallas-born death metal entity Cleric will leave a memorable impression upon the scene soon enough, as a debut LP is approaching, confirmed for release on local independent label Tofu Carnage Records. The following press release was issued about the band:

“Formed by underground combatants from Kill the Client, Baring Teeth, and Tyrannosorceress, the members of Cleric are no stranger to all things brutal and visceral, and they fuse their old-school death metal aggressive tendencies here into a relentless attack. Recorded by Garry Brents (Kill The Client, Phobia, Noisear) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Sleep), Cleric’s debut full-length LP, Gratum Inferno, boasts nearly a half-hour of grating, Stockholm-bred but Americanized death through seven hymns of debauchery, bizarre, haunting and horror-soundtrack elements permeating from deep within its hellish core.

“Not only designed to be experienced aurally, Gratum Inferno is for those who truly appreciate the aesthetic value of deluxe packaging and heavyweight color vinyl. The album is pressed on 200-gram, translucent yellow wax with blood red and milky clear splatter and features heavyweight spot-varnish printed jackets, gold foil-stamped inner-sleeve graphics, and was mastered at 45rpm for superior sound quality. This is an album that was truly meant for vinyl. The original and insane cover art was masterminded by Jason Barnett (Noothgrush, etc.). Gratum Inferno will see its proud release via Dallas’ Tofu Carnage Records — responsible for quality vinyl releases for Dead To A Dying World, Akkolyte, Unconscious Collective and Ecocide — in mid-September, with an official street date pending.

“Amped on releasing the crushing debut, Tofu Carnage set up preorders for the album early, and hooked up with Cvlt Nation to stream Gratum Inferno nearly two months before its proposed release. Uncage the audio and illustrative iniquity of Gratum Inferno for yourself right here.”
