The Offering Signs Record Deal With Century Media

Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of The Offering. The group’s self-titled debut EP was produced by guitarist Nishad George, with engineering help from Grammy award-winning engineer Mark Fuller, and mixed and mastered by Andre Alvinzi and Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios.

Check out the EP’s opening track “Rat King” below, and stay tuned for the five track release to officially drop November 10th digitally. The Offering’s first full-length studio album is scheduled to drop in summer/autumn 2018.

Century Media Records comments: “Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts the five players behind The Offering first came together in Tampa, Florida to invent their signature version of progressive, furious, and technical power metal with a strong death and thrash approach.

“The wild mixture of elements from many metal genres puts The Offering G in a class of its own: deep musical compositions, extreme, adept vocal performances, a powerful modern sound, and profound song arrangement separate The Offering from the metal pack. This is modern heavy metal for open-minded listeners who can imagine a hybrid of Nevermore, Death, At The Gates, Psychotic Waltz, Control Denied and Iced Earth.”

“It’s been 30 years since the release of the Jesters’ ‘Fun at the Funeral.’ This is our third record — we took 30 years off. Wasn’t like we were just sitting around though. We’ve been working on these songs for a while and we think it connects with the same stream of consciousness we previously mined without looking back to ’80s sounds. We think it’s pretty current. It also required a lot of current.”

Tyr Parts Ways With Drummer Amon Djurhuus Ellingsgaard

Drummer Amon Djurhuus Ellingsgaard from Tyr has posted this message online about parting ways with the abnd:

“I regret to announce that I will resign as a member of Týr. It has proven difficult to make time for touring and rehearsal with a full time occupation on the side, as well as children and bills to pay. I will not retreat from the metal scene entirely, since I am still member of two other bands, The Happening and Heljareyga. Thanks to the lads of Týr for the time and best wishes for the future, thanks to all who came to our shows during my time as drummer and thanks to all the great people I’ve met on tour. Hope to see you all again sometime.”

Tyr also had this to say: “As we bid farewell to Amon Djurhuus Ellingsgaard and wish him best of luck, we say welcome to Waltteri Väyrynen, who will play the drums at our upcoming shows. He’s played shows with us before, with great success.”

Theories Releasing New Album “Regression”

The Seattle death grind terminators and recent Metal Blade signees from Theories will a drop the ferocious wares of their new full-length upon the masses this Spring.

Titled “Regression,” the ten-track bruiser was recorded at The Red Room and The Boiler Room with producer/engineer Derek Moree (The Sword, Pelican, Minus The Bear et al), with mixing and mastering manned by Visceral Sound’s Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed).

The resulting ten cuts make up one of the most belligerent releases from the Metal Blade stable in recent memory. The label describes “Regression” as “a gristly, fuck-all soundtrack to social discontent, economic uncertainty, environmental catastrophes, and the inevitable cycle of decay. Doused in gnashing, prototypical hyper speed blasts and sub-nuclear riff incursions, the band’s meticulously-executed yet organically-scornful delivery is difficult to dismiss. Still, listeners will find moments of dissonant groove and clarity, as well guitar leads not often heard within the genre.”

The track listing is:

01. Burnt Concrete
02. Cycle of Decay
03. Shame
04. Abortive Crescent
05. Bathing in Pigs Blood
06. First World’s Last Breath
07. Swimming in Mud
08. Revenge/Rewild
09. Hell in Her Eyes
10. Landfill

Sacred Oath Posts Lyric Video For “Snake Eyes”

The four original members of cult U.S. metal band Sacred Oath are together again for the first time in more than 6 years and have released a lyric video for “Snake Eyes,” taken from the brand new full-length album “Fallen,” due on May 28th. Check out the video below. The following press release was also issued about Sacred Oath:

“The band is celebrating the 25th anniversary of debut release ‘A Crystal Vision,’ an album that somehow managed to become a cult classic despite going out of print almost immediately after its release in 1988.

“Singer Rob Thorne reformed the band in 2007 and has since released several albums with Sacred Oath, but ‘Fallen’ is the first full length album since ‘88 to feature Pete Altieri (bass), Glen Cruciani (guitar), Rob Thorne (vocals/guitar) and Kenny Evans (drums) throughout.”

In a letter to fans posted online, Pete Altieri describes the album as “Pure magic. I knew this was special, but until I sat down today to listen to ‘Fallen’ mastered and complete, I didn’t realize how much. This is truly a gift from the metal gods to all of us!”

Heavy Metal Porno Movie In The Works

Sex sells…but who’s buying? Hordes of metal fans, that’s who – or at least that’s the hope of a new production company titled Full Frontal Metal specializing in a previously unfilled niche: heavy metal porno.

“Rammstein’s ‘Pussy’ video shattered all kinds of viewing records,” commented a source from the company that asked to remain anonymous until an official announcement is made next week. “It really got us excited about the possibilities. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see their favorite metal stars going at each other with poor lighting and elevator music playing in the background?”

At this point only two stars have been confirmed for the company’s first DVD release: Doris Yeh of Chthonic and Maria Brink from In This Moment, but the production team is currently in talks with several other members of the metal community to secure their involvement.

An Offbeatr campaign to fund the film will be announced in the coming days, with a variety of “perks” not to be missed. According to the producers of the film, one of the Kickstarter stretch goals will include a limited edition Blu-Ray release with a bonus guy/guy scene featuring two surprisingly open gentlemen from the metal community willing to bare all for the fans.

Our source wouldn’t yet divulge the title of the movie, but confirmed it wouldn’t be “…And Orgasms For All.” We encourage our readers to make their best guesses in the comments below.
