New Album “Phoenix” Announced As Nocturnal Rites Rises From The Ashes

Swedish metal act Nocturnal Rites has come back from the dead, signed on with AFM Records and announced the new album “Phoenix,” which will be out on September 29th.

There are bands which are badly missed once they disappear from the scene. One of those examples is Nocturnal Rites, who last released an album in 2007 (“The 8th Sin”) and then afterwards slowly slipped into a hiatus kind of situation.

We are happy to come up with good news now: Nocturnal Rites is indeed back! The band has just put finishing touches on “Phoenix.” The band commented: “We can’t wait to share this new album with everyone. It’s been long overdue. Needless to say, it feels great to finally be back.”

Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Nocturnal Rites is:

Jonny Lindqvist – Vocals
Nils Eriksson – Bass
Per Nilsson – Lead Guitar
Fredrik Mannberg – Guitar
Owe Lingvall – Drums

Old Wounds Premieres New Horror-Themed Music Video “On Leather Wings”

Just in time for Halloween Old Wounds premieres a new horror-themed video for “On Leather Wings”, taken from the new album “The Suffering Spirit”, out in stores via Good Fight.

Check out now “On Leather Wings” below.

Explains drummer Brandon Gallagher:

“We wanted shoot a horror movie that was a sequel to our “Son of No One” video, and that’s what we did. What’s more gnarly than a sequel where an unsuspecting band member gets bagged, beaten, buried alive, and brought back from the dead? At times we were actually beating Mikey up, but he handled it like a true champ. All in the name of art, right? I guess that’s why he looks like such a psycho while he mercilessly kills all of us. The track has heavy Danzig and Type O Negative vibes, so I’m stoked that we were able shoot a video that matches the aesthetic. Happy Halloween, motherfuckers.”

Herodias Posts New Music Video For "An Exit"

New York’s Herodias has just posted a new video clip online for the song “An Exit,” taken off the band’s new “Antevorta” release. Check out the video below. Herodias also commented on its sound and band name:

“Herodias is a doom metal band encompassing a range of contemporary funeral doom with classical vocals. In literature, Herodias was commonly known as the wife of Herod Antipas. Their marriage was censured by John the Baptist as a transgression of Mosaic Law. Salome (Herodias’ daughter) performed a dance that so pleased Herod that he offered to grant any wish she expressed. Prompted by her mother, Salome asked for John the Baptist’s head on a platter, a wish the reluctant Herod was bound to fulfill. In medieval Europe, a widespread belief held Herodias to be the supernatural leader of a cult of witches. She rose from the dead, taking shape as a new goddess in the Pagan pantheon.”
