Candlemass Posts New Music Video “Astorolus – The Great Octopus” Online

Candlemass has come full circle: Their first singer Johan Langquist (who left the band after singing on the legendary 1986 debut “Epicus Doomicus Metallicus”) has returned! They are set to release their 12th full length album “The Door To Doom” on February 22nd via Napalm Records.

Now Candlemass have dropped the second song from the album featuring legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. Watch the video for “Astorolus – The Great Octopus” below.

Leif Edling states:
“Here’s the video for Astorolus. Monsters and Gods come in different shapes. The eternal wheel of birth and death portrayed in a cool video and great song. Talking about gods, the master himself, Tony Iommi is playing the solo here (part 1+2 out of 3). Immense feeling, wonderful tome, so much presence! Just incredible! Hats off to him for helping us out. A dream coming true! Looking forward to play it live on the tour with Ghost. We’re rehearsing it right now. New stuff and the old classics. Can’t wait to go out on this tour. Johan is back singing, “The Door to Doom” is getting brilliant reviews, the band is in great form… Will be a blast!”

Malevolent Creation Reveals New Album “The 13th Beast” Details

“No one can destroy this Malevolent Creation” is a legendary line by the late, great Bret Hoffmann, who passed away on July 7th, 2018. Renowned and revered for his vicious vocal style and unique onstage presence, Hoffmann is impossible to replace, but co-founder Phil Fasciana decided to face the challenge and affirm the truth behind this lyric from the group’s 1991 debut “The Ten Commandments”.

Now, Malevolent Creation have confirmed January 18th as the release date for The 13th Beast, which introduces a new lineup consisting of Phil Cincilla (drums), Josh Gibbs (bass), Phil Fasciana (guitars) and vocalist/guitarist Lee Wollenschlaeger (Throne Of Nails, Imperial Empire).

“This is the biggest honour I could ever be given”, says Lee Wollenschlaeger. “The opportunity to front one of my all-time favourite bands, and an even bigger pleasure of jamming with such great people. We have created one of the most relentless albums of Malevolent Creation’s history. As a fan, I know we are going to shock a lot of people at how intense this new album is. Done in a way only Malevolent Creation can. I can’t wait to see all you guys on the road in 2019 and beyond, playing songs from all the albums, including our new album, The 13th Beast!”

“Lee was the missing link when I was searching for a new vocalist and guitarist”, adds Phil Fasciana. “Each new member is a solid musician and songwriter sharing the same passion for extreme music Malevolent Creation has been striving for since 1987. I’m very proud of this album and look forward to present it live as well as songs from our massive back catalog including stuff that hasn’t been played live in a long time or ever.”

Musically, The 13th Beast expands upon 2014’s Dead Man’s Path, yet also incorporates a brutality known from albums such as The Will To Kill and Eternal, which is further accentuated by Wollenschlaeger’s understandable yet deeper vocal tone and songwriting contributions. Just like Dead Man’s Path, the record offers artwork by German Latorres, and was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound.

A first song from the album will be released on November 30th.

The 13th Beast will be released as black and limited coloured LP plus 4-page LP booklet, CD, and digital album – pre-sales start November 23rd.

The 13th Beast tracklisting:

1. End The Torture
2. Mandatory Butchery
3. Agony For The Chosen
4. Canvas Of Flesh
5. Born Of Pain
6. The Beast Awakened
7. Decimated
8. Bleed Us Free
9. Knife At Hand
10. Trapped Inside

Malevolent Creation lineup:

Burning Witches Posts New Lyric Video “Open Your Mind”

Old school heavy metal newcomers Burning Witches are set to release their new album “Hexenhammer” on November 9th. In anticipation of the release next week, the band have unveiled a third single from the album. Watch and listen to the lyric video for “Open Your Mind,” below.

The band comments: “We are very proud to present our lyric video for the track ‘Open Your Mind!’
The song delivers a message for all of us: Don’t let fear and anger control your life! We all should stand together in this time, when racism is about to grow again. We should remember that we are all the same. Open your Mind – Open your Heart – and try to remember how to cry!”

“Hexenhammer” was produced in the Little Creek Studio by the same team as its predecessor: V.O. Pulver (Pro-Pain, Destruction, Nervosa, Panzer) and Destruction legend Schmier, who also helped and advised as a close friend of the band. The result is a truly brilliant heavy metal album.

“‘Djinn’ plays an important role on the record and in the band’s history,” vocalist Peter Bjørneg states.

“‘Djinn’ was the second song to be completed in the world of ALKYMIST. Along with the track ‘Myling’ it helped to define the band’s musical cosmos and ensured the path that it was going to tread. The lyrics in Djinn revolve around arrogance and greed.”

Voivod Posts New Song And Video “Iconspiracy” Online

Ahead of their forthcoming new studio album, “The Wake,” Canadian progressive thrash metal legends Voivod has posted a new music video online for the song, “Iconspiracy.” You can check it out below. The song is the third from the album to receive the music video treatment, following “Obsolete Beings” and “Always Moving.” “The Wake” is set to be released through Century Media on September 21st.

Frontman Denis “Snake” Bélanger checked in with the following comment about the clip: “What I really like about Voivod fans is that they are all able to make their own interpretation of the lyrics or the story of our songs. This video is such a good portrait of “Iconspiracy” and the artist pinpoints awesome visuals in regards to the meaning and representation of the story itself. Thanks to Costin, an amazing artist who did really great work for us in the past and still blows my mind every time again. Question everything! Iconspiracy!!!”

Video director Costin Chioreanu added: “ The most difficult task of an illustrator is to work for his all-time favourite bands. Then he becomes extremely exigent with what he creates and wants to get beyond any known limit. Obviously, this type of experiences are priceless by all means at the same time, because everything goes utterly intense and he feels like a starship exploring the Universe at full warp speed and experiencing several amazing unseen worlds per second. “The Wake” is the album of the year 2018 for me and the video I literally built from scratch for “Iconspiracy” follows the song lyrics and the spaces between them. At the same time, both the story and video fight to remain alive while trying to keep up with the infernal dynamics of the song, which represent another musical proof of the Voivod’s genius. Other than that, this video speaks by itself, just like the music, therefore who is prepared to be awaken, will be!”
