Death metal band Kaoteon recently announced the release of their upcoming new full-length album, Damnatio Memoriae, featuring bass wizard Linus Klausenitzer of Obscura and drum master Fredrik Widigs of Marduk as special guests. The new album is due for release on February 23, 2018.

Nordjevel Unleashes New Music Video “Djevelen i Nord” From Self-Titled Debut Album

Scandinavian black metal unit Nordjevel – featuring vocalist Doedsadmiral from Svartelder and drummer Fredrik Widigs from Marduk – premieres a new music video for “Djevelen i Nord”, taken from the band’s self-titled debut album, out in stores via Osmose Productions. The track features Troll’s Nagash on guest vocals and 1349’s Archaon on guitars.

Netherbird Announces “Windwards” Single Release

After almost three years of silence, the Swedes from Netherbird return with the “Windwards” single, due to be released July 6th and preceding the band’s upcoming October 2016 album “The Grander Voyage” on Black Lodge Records.

Combining the trademark Netherbird ferocity with almost cinematic epic grandeur, the up-tempo title track has also been chosen for the first video in support of the new album. The single’s track list is completed by bonus track “Sculptors and Spectres” that does not appear on the actual upcoming album and is fully exclusive to this release.

This record features Fredrik Widigs (Marduk, Nordjevel, ex-Demonical) on drums, while the songs were mastered by Sverker Widgren. You can pre-order the single right here.

Rage Nucleaire Streaming “A Sino-American Chainsaw War”

The black metal extremists in Rage Nucleaire – featuring Lord Worm (ex-Cryptopsy) on vocals, Dark Rage on guitars, Alvater on bass/keyboards, and Fredrik Widigs (Demonical) on drums – are streaming the second track off forthcoming new album, “Black Storm of Violence.”

The track, titled “A Sino-American Chainsaw War” is streaming below, thanks to Decibel Magazine. “Black Storm of Violence” will be released by Season of Mist on July 22nd, 2014 (July 18th worldwide). The track listing is as follows:

Hyperborean Releasing “Mythos Of The Great Pestilence” Album

This May, Swedish experimental black metal duo Hyperborean will release a 2nd full-length album entitled “Mythos of the Great Pestilence” in digital format.

“Mythos of the Great Pestilence” was mixed by Magnus Devo Andersson (Marduk) and recorded in 2013 at Endarker Studio Sweden with Fredrik Widigs (Marduk) performing the drumming duties.

A cover version of the Blue Öyster Cult classic “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” was recorded at the same time, but will not appear on the album and has been made available online (check it out below). The track listing is as follows:

Astrophobos Announces New Permanent Drummer Jocke Wallgren

Sweden’s Astrophobos is pleased to announce that drummer Jocke Wallgren has joined the band as a permanent member.

Jocke Wallgren, also of Swedish black metal band Valkyrja, has been playing live with Astrophobos following the release of debut full-length “Remnants of Forgotten Horrors” in late January. He will make his first appearance as full-time drummer on February 26th at Debaser Strand in Stockholm along with Agrimonia, an event that celebrates the release of the new Icelandic movie entitled “Metalhead.”

Recorded and mixed at Garaget Studio by Erik Nilsson (Aoria, A Swarm of the Sun) and featuring session drummer Fredrik Widigs (The Ugly), “Remnants of Forgotten Horrors” follows the “Arcane Secrets” EP from 2010.
