Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals Recruits Former Cattle Decapitation Bassist Derek Engemann

Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals are pleased to welcome former Cattle Decapitation bassist/current Scour guitarist Derek Engemann to the lineup.

Engemann – who takes the place of bass comrade Walter Howard (Grieved, Oppressive Force, Vaginal Bear Trap etc.) – will make his live debut with The Illegals beginning next week on the band’s Latin American tour where they’ll be performing Illegals tracks alongside a selection of Pantera hits.

Comments Anselmo of the new addition, “Derek is a brother; he’s solid, driven, and talented. It’s awesome to have him onboard and I look forward to jamming and writing with him. We’re lucky to have him.”

Adds Engemann, “I’m very excited to share the stage with mi hermanos in The Illegals! It’s also truly an honour to pay such a great tribute to Dime and Vinnie!”

In March, the band will make their way to Australia and New Zealand on the Thrash Blast Grind tour with Australian grind practitioners and Housecore Records labelmates King Parrot. The journey marks Anselmo’s first visit to Australia in over five years and includes a headlining set at Slayfest in Perth March 23rd. Additional support will be provided by Palm (Japan) and Potion (Australia).

The summer months will find Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals playing a host of European festivals including Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, Hellfest in France, and Metaldays in Slovenia, with more performances to be announced in the weeks to come.

Downfall Of Gaia releases video for new single, “We Pursue The Serpent Of Time”

– January 9th, 2019 –

February 8th sees Downfall Of Gaia release their new album, Ethic Of Radical Finitude! In anticipation of this release, Downfall Of Gaia have now launched a video for the second single, “We Pursue The Serpent Of Time”, which can be viewed at: youtu.be/wlodzclp9Ek

Downfall Of Gaia comments: “Today we’re excited to share the music video for our song ‘We Pursue The Serpent Of Time’, the second new song of our upcoming album, ‘Ethic Of Radical Finitude‘! This time we’re joined by our friend Nikita Kamprad from Der Weg einer Freiheit for some guest vocals, and we hope you enjoy this collaboration as much as we do! Thanks for listening!”

For another preview of Ethic Of Radical Finitude, the first single, “As Our Bones Break To The Dance”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/downfallofgaia – where the album can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

–Hardcover Digipak-CD
–180 g black vinyl
–Dead gold marbeld vinyl (ltd. 300 – EU-exclusive)

Ethic Of Radical Finitude is the international quartet’s most melodic, most structured and most dynamic release to date, once more building upon the epic and unique sludgy, crusty, exploratory metallic sound that has organically evolved with every release. “It combines elements from our earlier releases with the path we took on ‘Atrophy‘ (2016),” states guitarist/vocalist Dominik Goncalves dos Reis. “There are long atmospheric parts with enough time to breathe, enough time to unfold, and on the other side there are harsh and melodic blastbeats. Each song is some kind of journey, with emotional ups and downs.”

2. The Grotesque Illusion Of Being
3. We Pursue The Serpent Of Time

Epic melodic death metallers Nothgard post tour recap and launch video for “Guardians Of Sanity”

– December 12th, 2018 –

Epic Melodic Death Metallers Nothgard have just finished their live activities for 2018. Bandleader Dom R. Crey comments: “Wow, what a blast! Four weeks, countless shows all over Europe and an incredibly awesome time. At the end of October, we started with the guys of Parasite Inc. in the ‘Malady X‘ release-tour, and would like to thank all those who came to the shows. The energy that our fans put up here was fantastic. We had never expected that lyrics of the new songs would be shouted at us during those shows – incredible! Just as great was the subsequent European tour with our Finnish brothers in mind, Omnium Gatherum & Wolfheart. Again, a big thank you to all our fans in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Hungary and Co – you know who you are!”

Nothgard filmed an abundance of material during their latest tour; the band has now launched a video for the Malady X track, “Guardians Of Sanity”, which can be viewed at: youtu.be/oeOGTz3dmvc

Dom R. Crey comments: “We have managed to film a new video on tour, this time as a live performance for the song ‘Guardians of Sanity’ from our new album ‘Malady X‘. Camera and editing was handled by Wolfheart mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen, who is also producing the clips for his own band. If you couldn’t come to the shows you now have the chance to get a glimpse of our live performance to headbang through your house!”

Nothgard has entered the official German album charts with their latest album Malady X, at position 53! To preview and purchase Malady X, please visit: metalblade.com/nothgard

Metal Blade Records is proud to welcome Fractal Universe to its worldwide roster! Founded in 2014, Fractal Universe is a progressive death metal band from Nancy, France. They released their first EP, Boundaries of Reality, in February 2015, and played numerous shows in support of it, opening for bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Exodus, Monuments, and many more. With the release of their first full-length, Engram of Decline, in April 2017 via Kolony Records, Fractal Universe received even more exposure in international press (Terrorizer, Rock Tribune, Rock Hard, etc.), before touring throughout Europe and appearing at various festivals. Soon after, Metal Blade Records offered the band a worldwide deal.

Fractal Universe comments: “We’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with Metal Blade Records for the release of our upcoming album. The label has put out a countless amount of great albums over the years, that shaped our tastes in metal and contributed to making us the musicians we are today. Signing to them has been one of our main objectives since we started the band, and is really a dream come true. We couldn’t be more excited about the months to come, and we can’t wait to share the first tracks of the album with you!”

Fractal Universe‘s sophomore album – and Metal Blade Records debut – is entitled Rhizomes of Insanity. Set to be released in spring 2019, Rhizomes of Insanity was recorded between May and July 2018, with drums recorded at Ghost City Recordings with Nikita Kamprad, and mixing and mastering handled once again by the band’s long-time engineer Flavien Morel of Boundless Productions Studios. Lovebites New Album “Clockwork Immortality” International Release Date

All female Japanese power metal outfit Lovebites has revealed that they have signed a deal with Arising Empire, who will be releasing their sophomore full length album, “Clockwork Immortality” worldwide on December 7th, two days after the record hits Japanese stores.

Following a superb performance at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival, where they were moved to the mainstage at the last minute, the band will be embarking on their first headlining tour of Europe.
