Hibagon Announces “Polyposmic” Album Release

Hibagon is a heavy polyrhythmic two-piece that channels the energy of the straightforward guitar & drums formula into irregular textures, bringing it back to the listener in geometric and distorted frames. Born in Bergamo, Italy in 2011, the band has published two EPs and performed shows in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, Ireland and the U.K.

In May of 2017, the duo will release “Polyposmic,” the band’s first full-length record, which will include 12 intense and dynamic tracks that have been built, torn apart, and reassembled an infinite number of times to reach the most effective sequence of multiple themes.

The story behind the album takes off with Hibagon facing Moughra and falling in a state of unconsciousness. Reborn in a new shape after 120 thousand years, now he transcends space and time, and forces everything that happens to be on his path to mutate and reach new forms: the names on the track list are flashing suggestions of these alterations, to take the listener closer to the screenplay and then push him into a spiral of mathy grooves.

1. 120
2. Anacrosaurus
3. Colugozer
4. Hypnoyak
5. Orogenesis
6. Lamantino
7. Dodoblique
8. Hoolaloop
9. Was Wog
10. Groovulture
11. Neinthorag

Fall Of Summer 2017 Lineup Announced

The Fall of Summer team is very pleased to add five new names to its 2017 lineup taking place Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th of September by the Torcy lake, situated 30 kilometres east of Paris. The festival’s organizers comment:

“With over 45 years difference between the newest and the oldest band, we have decided to introduce them in chronological order.

“First of all we are very excited to announce two mythical bands formed in the late 60s who have been a big influence for many metal artists for almost half a century. We are glad that the American occult rock band Coven will play their very first show in France at Fall of Summer and thrilled that one of our biggest national prides, the French progressive rock band Magma also joins us this year.

“Coming from the 80’s, we’re proud to welcome the American cult thrash metal band Morbid Saint who’ll play for the first time in France. We’re also thrilled that the emblematic Swedish black Metal band Marduk joins forces with us.

“To close this announcement, we invite those who would not know them, to discover Au-Dessus, as those young Lithuanians playing post-black metal since 2014, definitely deserve your attention.”

The Wizards Sign With Fighter Records, New Album Details Revealed

Spanish ’70s hard/heavy rock band The Wizards has inked a deal with Fighter Records for the release of the highly anticipated second album “Full Moon in Scorpio,” which will see the light on May 16th internationally.

Formed in Bilbao (Basque Country) back in 2013, these five outcasts decided to form a band after several intense sessions of drug abuse and hard liquor drinking marathons at backyard parties where the records of Black Sabbath, Danzing, The Cult, Blue Oyster Cult, Pentagram, Deep Purple, Dio, Horisont, and Electric Wizard were played so loud, neighbors would call the police sooner than expected.

In January 2014, The Wizards recorded the first demo, “Plagues.” With only four songs recorded and a bunch of covers, the band was able to win the 26th edition of the local pop/rock contest Villa de Bilbao. During 2015, the band released the self-titled debut album through its own label, Witch Records, in collaboration with French label Geea Music.

The band played live in France, Basque Country, and Spain opening for legendary bands and artists such as The Dictators, Iggy Pop, and Turbonegro, sharing the stage with bands like Horisont, Peter Pan Speed Rock, and Hypnos among others. The Wizards was even invited to participate in festivals such as Madrid Stoner Scene Fest, Kriston Fest, and Faan Fest.

During April 2016, The Wizards entered Gaua Studio together with Brooklyn-based produced Dean Rispler, current bass-player for The Dictators. During two weeks, they recorded eight songs that form the upcoming second album. “Full Moon in Scorpio” was engineered by Asier Zubelbu and mixed and mastered by Jesse Cannon (The Cure, The Misfits, The Dillinger Escape Plan) at Cannon Found Soundation in Union City, New Jersey.

The new release contains eight tracks of hard & heavy rock attack, the lyrics dealing with such issues as the destruction of the veils that blind us, the vast concepts of space and time, the search for spiritual enlightenment, and so on. For the band, it truly means a step forward in the quest for world domination. The sound is bigger, the songs are better, and The Wizards is ready to destroy and fuck things up wherever a presence is needed. The western world is collapsing – let’s dance over the fires while we howl at the Scorpio Moon. All in the name of rock ‘n’ roll – all in the name of Lucifer!

“Full Moon in Scorpio” will be released in CD and vinyl LP formats. In the meantime, check out lead off track “Avidya” below. The album artwork and track listing can be found here:

2. Calliope (Cosmic Revelations)
3. Odinist

Ensiferum begins work on seventh full-length

– February 28th, 2017 –

Issues album update

Ensiferum recently entered the Astia studio in Lappeenranta, Finland, where the band recorded a few demo songs for their upcoming seventh full-length, set to be released September 2017 via Metal Blade Records. The quintet will soon return to the Astia studio to begin recording this new album, which will be produced once again by Anssi Kippo (Children Of Bodom, Impaled Nazarene, Entwine etc.).

Sami Hinkka (bass) comments: “Hi Folks! So, as some of you might have already noticed from our social media channels, we are getting ready to go record the next Ensiferum album pretty soon. Just a few weeks ago, we recorded demo versions with Anssi Kippo, who also recorded and produced ‘One Man Army‘. The demo session went smoothly, and working with Anssi is always such a pleasure because he is so full of creative ideas and positive attitude. The goal for the new album will be to capture Ensiferum‘s live energy on the songs, and we also plan to use analog recording as much as possible to guarantee the best possible sound.
The song material will include familiar elements, but like we always love to do, we will also take Ensiferum‘s mighty warship to unexplored seas of musical madness. More info later.”

Before the album’s release, European fans will be able to catch Ensiferum at various festivals this summer. See below for all dates, with more shows to be announced soon!

Ensiferum tour dates:
Mar. 31 – Full Metal Mountain – Troepolach, Austria
Apr. 1 – Rock In Hell – Colmar, France
Apr. 7 – Metal Franconia Festival – Dettelbach, Germany
Apr. 8 – Durbuy Rock Festival – Durbuy, Belgium
June 3 – Metal Open Air Plzen – Plzen, Czech Republic
June 30 – Rockfest Barcelona – Barcelona, Spain
July 1 – Hoernerfest – Brande-Hoernerkirchen, Germany
July 13 – Dong Open Air – Neukirchen – Vlyn, Germany

Ensiferum has been flying the flag of epic, folk-infused death metal high and proud for two decades. Commended for being “their most polished album to-date,” by Metal Hammer, “one of folk metal’s finest acts” by Loudwire.com and “warlike and fiery” by MetalSucks.net, their latest album, One Man Army (2015), can be previewed and purchased at: metalblade.com/ensiferum

Igorrr signs worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records

– February 23rd, 2017 –

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of French musician and eclectic composer Igorrr – the main musical project by Gautier Serre. Known for combining genres such as black metal, death metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip hop, Igorrr completed their third album this past December, after spending four years writing and recording the material. This upcoming record, entitled Savage Sinusoid, will be released in Spring 2017 via Metal Blade Records.

Igorrr comments: “We are super excited to release this album with Metal Blade – such a high quality music place, with great artistic freedoms! This label is the home we want for our music…Throughout the years, Metal Blade has had really great taste in music, and a real capacity to promote extreme music – only a label like this could have been brave enough to release music like ours.”

From an early age, Gautier Serre listened to Domenico Scarlatti, Cannibal Corpse, Chopin, Meshuggah, Jean-Sebastien Bach, Aphex Twin, Taraf de Haidouks, and Jean-Philippe Rameau, which inspired him to join several death metal, experimental and electronic bands in the early 2000s, before launching Igorrr. During that time, Gautier waited for an artist to bring together different musical genres and influences, to create one new sound – but he was disappointed with what he heard in the scene. Gautier began to create his own music – naming his project Igorrr – and self-released two demos: Poisson Soluble (2006) and Moisissure (2008). Following the underground success of these demos, Igorrr signed with an electronic record label and released two full-length albums to critical acclaim: Nostril (2010) and Hallelujah (2012) – the latter of which includes guest appearances by Mayhem‘s Teloch (guitars), Secret Chiefs 3‘s Adam Stacey (accordion), as well as the original musicians Igorrr had been working with for years: Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec as vocalists. In a live setting, Gautier Serre, Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec are joined by Sylvain Bouvier, who also recorded the drum parts of Savage Sinusoid in the studio with them. Together, this group of artists has already performed in France, all over Europe, the Middle East and North America.

For Igorrr‘s third album, Savage Sinusoid – and Metal Blade Records debut – fans can expect another experimental record featuring multiple guest musicians, with worldwide touring to follow. Stay tuned for more news coming soon!
