You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Two Paths track-listing
1. Ajattomasta Unesta
2. For Those About to Fight for Metal
3. Way of the Warrior
4. Two Paths
5. King of Storms
6. Feast with Valkyries
7. Don’t You Say
8. I Will Never Kneel
9. God Is Dead
10. Hail to the Victor
11. Unettomaan Aikaan
12. God Is Dead (Alternative Version)
13. Don’t You Say (Alternative Version)

The first part will be in September with six dates in three countries, and then in April 2018 there will be an extended tour through many more European countries. Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records signs Norway’s Fight The Fight in the USA

– September 7th, 2017 –

Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Norway’s Fight The Fight in the USA! Fight The Fight‘s self-titled debut (released digitally in January 2017) is young, fresh and bursting with energy – just as you would expect from a band that has been buzzing around the Norwegian underground for several years. Now, the record will finally see a physical release in the USA in early 2018 via Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records.

Chris Santos (Blacklight Media) comments: “If ever there was a band that hooked me on the first listen, it was Fight The Fight!
Fight The Fight seamlessly weave together classic old school riffing with cutting edge grooves and have a knack for making every single song they write not just heavy, but catchy as fuck! To top it off, these guys are natural born total rock stars. The sky is the limit for Fight The Fight and I’m so stoked to take the ride with them!”

Brian Slagel (Metal Blade Records) adds: “Once again my buddy Chris Santos has found an amazing band! We are super excited to have Blacklight Media working with Fight The Fight! Check them out!!”

Erlend Gjerde (Indie Recordings) comments: “We’re very excited to partner with the great team at Blacklight Media and Metal Blade for Fight The Fight in North America. Their enthusiasm and dedication to working with us on the band made our decision very easy – Let’s do this!”

Barely breaking into their twenties, Fight The Fight has already been a band – though under a different name (Faenskap) – for more than a decade. It’s the classic story of childhood friends and schoolmates whose dreams and ambitions run high, and ultimately form a band together. Pushing the whole project to the limit of their capabilities, they succeeded in reaching their goal: creating a record that reflects their vision of what’s to come. Not your average album, this mature, well-composed rock/metal grenade immediately explodes with memorable hooks, catchphrases and choruses, and the rock, punk, metal and black metal elements are woven into a unique and progressive sound. With this debut, it is clear that Fight The Fight is destined for great things.

For a preview of Fight The Fight, the video for the title track can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=YLWUdYeSy4M

Demonstealer Launches Crowd Funding Campaign For New EP

Following the release of “This Burden Is Mine” last year, Demonstealer has now launched a crowd funding campaign for an upcoming EP set to include several guest musicians. Demonstealer’s Sahil Makhija had this to say:

“Now I know for most people it’s hard to pre-order something without knowing what’s coming up but I can assure you, if you go by the quality of music I’ve been delivering, you won’t be disappointed.

“While I had George Kollias drum on the solo album, this EP is a little more ambitious and I’m trying to work with not 1 but 3-4 drummers. While I’ve confirmed 3 of them I can only announce 1 right now and that is Kevin Paradis from France who is an incredible drummer. You can check him out on youtube. I can say that the other 2 drummers will also blow your mind.”

Jasta Releases “The Same Flame” Music Video

Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta continues to build upon his legacy with new Jasta album “The Lost Chapters,” which was released this past March. Jasta’s next U.S. performance will be in CT on Oct. 7th w/New Years Day at The Webster Underground.

Until then, look for Jasta on his “European Vacation” tour starting this Friday, Aug 25th through Sept 1st. Jast today also unleashes his new music video for the track “The Same Flame,” which was shot by Paul McGuire of Obscenery Films.

Jamey comments: “I’m really excited to launch the video for the Jasta track, ‘The Same Flame,’ directed by my friend Paul McGuire. Those who listen to my Podcast know I’ve been talking about doing a project completely DIY style w/Jastafor months and this video, along with two others, are the outcome of that. In addition to a nine song album that was partially fan funded! Not only did I get to work on every aspect of the recording, packaging and producing the album, but I got to help direct and scout locations. Now we have a cool visual to go along with one of my favorite songs off the Jasta album.

“Since I released the album in the spring, Jasta had a successful tour w/ Anthrax and Killswitch Engage. After that I got busy touring on Warped with Hatebreed, but I was able to shoot 3 Jasta videos in 3 days on a short break. Now I get to hit the road w/Kasta in Europe for a short tour and then I’ll be back doing a home-state show Oct. 7th w/ Jasta before Hatebreed hits the road again.”
