Dave McClain (Ex-Machine Head) Joins Sacred Reich

Phoenix-based thrash icons, Sacred Reich are thrilled to announce the return of former drummer Dave McClain to their ranks, following his departure from Bay Area metal outfit Machine Head last month after 23 years on the drum throne. Before joining Machine Head, McClain played drums for Sacred Reich for four years between 1991 and 1995.

Sacred Reich’s frontman and bassist, Phil Rind comments:

“It is with great pleasure that we announce that Dave McClain is once again a member of SACRED REICH! This was the best case scenario that we could have hoped for. Dave is the best! A great drummer and a great person and we are beyond excited to welcome him back to the band. We’re headed into the studio in February and can’t wait for you all to hear our new record due in the Summer of 2019!”

Dave echoes the sentiment, stating:

“I’m so excited about re-joining my brothers in Sacred Reich. To have the opportunity to make and play music with one of my favorite metal bands was always something I hoped could happen. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the new album that we’re recording in February and to come see us out on the road in 2019-2020.”

As well as new album plans for 2019 through Metal Blade, Sacred Reich are currently planning their live schedule for next year and into 2020. Stay tuned for more news from the Reich soon.

Former Warbringer Drummer Nic Ritter Has Died

Former Warbringer drummer Nic Ritter has died.

Shares the band’s vocalist John Kevill:

“A couple days ago we got some tragic news. Our former drummer, Nic Ritter, is dead. He passed either Wednesday or Thursday and I got the word Thursday night. I know few details of how he died. I had not seen Nic in many years, though I had spoken to him a few times fairly recently. I always will to regret that I never saw him again, and we never really caught up on all our old times traveling the world. Nic played approximately 400-450 shows with Warbringer between June 2008 through January 2011, the period where we were never off the road. His drum performance on “Waking into Nightmares” pushed the standard of technicality and musicianship in Warbringer to a new level and helped to shape the identity of the band to what it is today. He was an absolutely stellar player who in my opinion is a true innovator in thrash metal drumming. Sadly, “Waking into Nightmares” is, to the best of my knowledge, his sole recorded musical legacy. Shame that he never played on another record, at least I know he was very proud of our work on that one.
Rest easy, old buddy
–Kevill”

Nic Ritter’s cause of death was not revealed yet though his family members have referred to his death as being “unexpected” via social media.

Heretoir Recruits Drummer, Readying New Album For Release

Heretoir just checked in with the following year-end recap and announcement about recruiting a new drummer:

“2016 was a very busy year for us – after 5 years of songwriting and intense work we finally finished our second full-length album ‘The Circle!’ We played a single but wonderful show at the Resist.Rewild Fest 2016 for a fantastic crowd but also parted ways with our former drummer Belial.

“We would like to thank every single one of you for the support throughout the years – everyone that supports us by coming to our shows, getting in touch with us in order to share personal thoughts and experiences connected to our music, buying our releases and merchandise and for everyone spreading the word about our music – it really means a lot to us…!

“We start into 2017 with a great energy and anticipation, a new album – and a great new drummer! We would like to introduce Nils (Thränenkind, ex-Ophis, ex-Fäulnis) as the new brilliant man behind the drumset.

“Nils already nailed it during the drum recordings for ‘Substanz’ in 2012 and we’re really happy to have him with us – welcome Nils!”
