Graven To Release New EP “Heirs Of Discord” In 2018

Extreme metal outfit Graven – formed in the ashes of Swarm Of The Lotus – makes its destructive return, ending a four-year hiatus with the construction of a new EP titled Heirs Of Discord for release in 2018.

With its members currently located in Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, and Florida, Graven initiated the recording sessions for Heirs Of Discordlast week, having traveled from their various current residences around the country to lay down tracks at Pristine Audio And Video in St. Petersburg, Florida with engineer Dee Blume, who will also mix and master the record. Teddy Patterson (Burnt By The Sun, Human Remains, Gridlink) has joined the lineup, and in addition, original Human Remains guitarist Stephen Procopio will appear on a cover of “Human” from Human Remains’ ageless Using Sickness As A Hero.

Issued Graven from the studio, “The time has come to officially announce what we’ve been working on for a while. Talks started earlier this year about reuniting to get this done and it hasn’t been easy, as all of us live in a different part of the country now. Pre-production has been lengthy, involving passing demos back and forth via email, until we felt confident we were ready. Our longtime friend Teddy Patterson (Burnt By The Sun, Human Remains, Gridlink) will be joining us for the album and lending his talent in the bass department. His tracking will be done at Backroom Studios with engineer Kevin Antreassian of The Dillinger Escape Plan. We are beyond stoked on everything and after a four-year hiatus, we are happy to be back and making music again!”

Following the disbanding of Swarm Of The Lotus in 2010, three of its members established Graven , reworking the lineup and moving forward with a more extreme approach, bridging the crushing sludge/metallic hardcore explosiveness of the former act with more guttural death, grind, and doom devastation. Graven began to play live in various lineup incarnations in 2011, and self-released their first EP, The Filth Will Cleanse, in November 2012. They recorded two songs for a three-way split release with Burn Everything and Reckoner for Dullest Records which was released in May of 2014, however Graven went on hiatus in late 2013, leaving at least five songs on the table which were never recorded. Some of this material has been resurrected and reworked, and will finally see the light of day as part of Heirs Of Discord.

The Heirs Of Discord sessions will continue at various studios over the next several months, completed with artwork by Unexpected Specter, and released digitally and on vinyl sometime mid-2018, with select live appearances also being scouted out for late next year, following the release.

Music Video For New Single “Visionary” Posted By Silenmara, New EP Revealed

Following a turbulent few months for the band, Florida melodic death metal outfit Silenmara has come back fighting with a brand new music video single and details of a polished EP produced by Jamie King that promotes their fight for musical freedom. Check out the video for the new single “Visionary.” The song is available for purchase via Bandcamp at this location).

The song appears on the new EP “A Darkened Visionary” coming December 15th.

Guitarist Jason Gato commented on the song: “Lyrically, the song ‘Visionary’ was written about decisions. A person can take one of two roads. One simple mistake or miscalculation could be life changing or even fatal. On the other hand one focused and calculated decision can change a persons life for the best. It’s all about your mindset and your ability to make serious decisions under pressure. When you’re on a ‘Bridge of defeat, could you stand for denial’?

“Musically we wrote this song for one specific purpose, to deliver an emotion. We wanted our people to feel the love we have for this music. It is filled with guitar melodies and odd time trickery that we have come to embrace in our writing. A very catchy guitar lick meets an aggressive vocal melody begging for guidance and hoping for forgiveness. We chose this song for its ability to find its way into your mind and stay. Our Vision of musical freedom.”

Having fought through hurricanes, family deaths and constant delays on the production of the EP, Silenmara is now ready to unleash their masterpiece onto the world and look forward to reclaiming the fan’s hearts. Silenmara combines the best aspects of the two most iconic death metal schools in the world; the melodic flails of Sweden’s Gothenburg sound with Florida’s style of aggressive death metal.

2017 sees Silenmara embarking into a new era with the release of the fourth studio effort “A Darkened Visionary” EP, which is set for a December 15th release. This EP welcomes new guitar player Marcus Noga, which has only broadened Silenmara’s musical horizons. Silenmara has also contracted the talented Giovanni Angel to engineer the EP and Jamie King (The Contortionist, BTBAM) to mix and master the record. The outcome is a very polished, matured and reenergised recording.

“This EP was very emotionally driven, we lost a few family members during the tracking process, that really hurt the progress at the beginning, but we did it. We powered through some pretty serious personal tragedies. We also had to deal with a Category 4 hurricane IRMA during the mixing process, that was also a bit of an inconvenience to say the least” says Gato.

More information on the EP is expected soon. Check out the “Visionary” music video here:

The Offering Signs Record Deal With Century Media

Century Media Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of The Offering. The group’s self-titled debut EP was produced by guitarist Nishad George, with engineering help from Grammy award-winning engineer Mark Fuller, and mixed and mastered by Andre Alvinzi and Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios.

Check out the EP’s opening track “Rat King” below, and stay tuned for the five track release to officially drop November 10th digitally. The Offering’s first full-length studio album is scheduled to drop in summer/autumn 2018.

Century Media Records comments: “Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts the five players behind The Offering first came together in Tampa, Florida to invent their signature version of progressive, furious, and technical power metal with a strong death and thrash approach.

“The wild mixture of elements from many metal genres puts The Offering G in a class of its own: deep musical compositions, extreme, adept vocal performances, a powerful modern sound, and profound song arrangement separate The Offering from the metal pack. This is modern heavy metal for open-minded listeners who can imagine a hybrid of Nevermore, Death, At The Gates, Psychotic Waltz, Control Denied and Iced Earth.”
