Blood Divisions releases new EP, ‘Cardinal One’, today

– March 24th, 2017 –

Chris Jericho (Fozzy, WWE) signed copies of ‘Cardinal One’ now available for purchase at metalblade.com/blooddivisions

Today (March 24th), Blood Divisions – a collaborative project of heavy metal musicians with proceeds going to Rock and Rescue – has released their new EP, Cardinal One, via Metal Blade Records. Featuring cover songs of classic tracks as well as original material, Cardinal One CDs (signed by Fozzy/WWE‘s Chris Jericho!) can be purchased at: metalblade.com/blooddivisions – where the album track and cover version of UFO‘s “Hot ‘n’ Ready” can be streamed.

Founded by core members Chris Jericho (Fozzy, WWE), David Austin (Nasty Savage), and Ed Aborn (Intersonic Cyber Symphony), Blood Divisions features a roster of supporting musicians who are current or former members of bands such as Obituary, Death, Nasty Savage, Six Feet Under, Iced Earth, Sebastian Bach, Deicide, Massacre, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and more. The result is a mixture of classics injected with new energy and original music in the mold of Florida’s heavy metal roots.

Blood Divisions is the perfect heavy metal snack mix,” says singer and Executive Producer Chris Jericho (Fozzy, WWE). “It’s a complete blend of balls out thrash, virtuoso technique and 70′s hard rock melodies. It’s an honor to be a part of this project, as I’d be a fan even if I wasn’t in the band! Plus I love machine elves.”

“The project began purely as a creative outlet to have some fun and pay homage to some of the bands that influenced or inspired us,” adds Ed Aborn (Intersonic Cyber Symphony). “Once we began, though, friends from the Florida metal community started to reach out and ask if they could join in. Eventually we decided to make it semi-official and do it all for charity.”

David Austin (Nasty Savage) comments: “Absolute pleasure working with all my friends on here. For them to take their time out of their busy schedule and to do something for free for charity means everything to me. Hopefully I get to do it all over again!!!!”

Galactic Cowboys “Evil Twin” – new Throwback Thursday video of the week!

– March 23rd, 2017 –

In celebration of Metal Blade Records‘ 35th anniversary, a recently digitized video from the archives will be launched every Thursday on the label’s official YouTube channel. These videos have never been officially uploaded by the label, and some are not currently available anywhere else online. Previous Throwback Thursday videos include classic cuts from Lizzy Borden, Candlemass, Nevada Beach, Skrew, and more. Watch the latest video and more at the official YouTube playlist.

This week’s installment is Galactic Cowboys “Evil Twin” from the group’s 1997 album “The Horse That Bud Bought.” Download or stream the album via the digital music provider of your choice: smarturl.it/gc-horse

About Galactic Cowboys:
“Ga-lac-tic (g-lak’tik), adj. 1. Of or obtained from milk.
Cow-boy (kou’boi’), n. A ranch worker who rides horseback on his job of herding cattle.” -Webster’s New World Dictionary

There was a sonic ripple (sort of near Katy…but not really) in the otherwise peaceful universe of Houston, Texas. A quartet of dashing young men took the stage claiming to be the Houston Astros. Unbeknownst to them, that name had already been taken. So, they settled for the logical “next best thing” the Galactic Cowboys.

In 1990, they signed with DGC (Geffen) and released two critically acclaimed CD’s, Galactic Cowboys self-title (1991) , and Space In Your Face (1993). In 1995, the band moved to Metal Blade Records and recorded Machine Fish (1996) followed by the EP, Feel The Rage, also released in 1996 (which included covers by Paul McCartney’s Wings and Kiss). The Horse That Bud Bought (1997), At The End Of The Day (1998), and Let it Go (2000) followed.

Nova Collective enters Billboard charts for new album, ‘The Further Side’

– March 21st, 2017 –

Featuring members of Between the Buried and Me, Haken, Trioscapes, Cynic

Nova Collective (featuring members of Between the Buried and Me, Haken, Trioscapes, Cynic) recently released their debut album, The Further Side, via Metal Blade Records; for their efforts, the band has now entered the Billboard charts! See below for all positions:

#22 Billboard Hard Music Albums Chart (USA)
#40 Billboard Heatseekers Chart (USA)
#68 Hard Music Chart (Canada)

Nova Collective began in 2014 when bassist Dan Briggs (Between the Buried and Me, Trioscapes) and guitarist Richard Henshall (Haken) began exchanging emails about music; before long, a few demos were fleshed out into full arrangements. Drummer Matt Lynch (Trioscapes, Cynic) and keyboardist Pete Jones (ex-Haken) came on board shortly after to finish writing the album. The Further Side was written on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, with Briggs and Lynch in America and Henshall and Jones in England, sharing session files until the group could get together at the beginning of 2015 to record with engineer Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist). Mixed by Rich Mouser (Neal Morse, Transatlantic), The Further Side can be described as fusion, weaving progressive rock influences with world music, jazz and classical, to create something entirely new that is pure aural candy for prog/jazz fans. To preview and purchase The Further Side, please visit: metalblade.com/novacollective

Welcomes new guitarist Jake Weber

On April 7th, Australian thrashers Harlott will release their new album, Extinction, worldwide via Metal Blade Records! Harlott returns with a harrowing offering of thrash metal, and a bleak interpretation of mankind’s future. A blistering assault of speed and aggression awaits those who endure Extinction, as well as a reverent journey into the power and force that is metal. For a preview of the album, the new track, “The Penitent”, can be heard at: youtube.com/watch?v=FfD0Yf2mDP8

To hear the first single, “First World Solutions”, please visit: metalblade.com/harlott – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:
–Digipak CD
–180g black vinyl
–clear blue green vinyl (limited to 200 copies – EU exclusive)
–toxic green vinyl (limited to 100 copies – EU exclusive)

*digital options are also available!

With today’s news, Harlott also welcomes new lead guitarist Jake Weber. The band comments: “We are psyched to announce we have found the right guy in Jake! It was never going to be an easy task, but we couldn’t be happier with how everything has fallen into place. With our new album ‘Extinction‘ due out on Metal Blade on April 7th, he couldn’t have come along at a better time!”

Jake Weber adds: “A little over 16 years ago, I first picked up the guitar & I’ve been swinging that axe ever since. In that time, I’ve played for bands such as The Murdering & Deprivation, as well as toured & recorded at home & abroad. Finally, I feel like I’ve really found my home and it’s right where I always thought it would be, playing Thrash! I’ve joined at a very important time in Harlott‘s career. Andy, Tom & Tim have welcomed me with open arms & we are ready to become the tightest, fastest & hardest working machine Harlott can be! See you in the pit!”

Featuring artwork by Andrei Bouzikov, Extinction is Harlott‘s third album and the successor to 2015′s critically acclaimed Proliferation. Recorded at Monolith Studios (Orpheus Omega, In Malice’s Wake, Bane of Winterstorm) and mastered by Jens Bogren (Kreator, Opeth, Soilwork), the album seeks to rain pure savagery upon any listener with furious riffs, spitting verses and face melting shred that are blended effortlessly with triumphant melodies and thundering groove to make a diverse and adaptable record which pays tribute to the kings of thrash metal, while making waves in the new dawn of evil. Taking what they had already mastered and pushing the limits of dissonance, evil, and atmosphere, they bring together an offering that will satisfy the bloodlust of their manic legion, and draw in the revelers of a dying breed. Containing 12 songs of pure bedlam, Extinction pauses only for the deafening silence between each blistering track.
