Unsane To Release New Album “Sterilize”

Southern Lord eagerly confirms the label’s new partnership with legendary New York City-based noise rock outfit Unsane for the September 29th release of the band’s eighth studio full-length, “Sterilize.”

Since 1988, Unsane has pounded the planet with caustic grooves and foundation-crumbling riffs, having released LPs through a wide range of labels including Matador/Atlantic, Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, Ipecac, Alternative Tentacles, and others, not to mention a wide range of singles, splits, and live albums.

Closing a five-year gap since the 2012 release of the “Wreck” LP through Alternative Tentacles, Unsane makes a vicious return with the pummeling “Sterilize,” a record that recalls the most defining elements of the band’s seminal releases. The album was produced by Unsane, recorded by Dave Curran at Gatos Trail Studios in Yucca Valley, California, mixed by Andrew Schneider at Acre in New York City, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering in Chicago.

Advancing the release, Unsane has announced a run of US tour dates from July 15th through August 3rd, booked around the band’s performance at AmRep Bash 17 in Minneapolis, with Fashion Week providing support for the trek. Additional tour dates through the release of the new LP are to be expected.

Video Clip For New Song “I, Martyr” Issued By Hate Unbound

Hate Unbound’s critically acclaimed debut album “Plague” drops today via Inverse Records. The band celebrates in gloomy fashion with a new music video for the song “I, Martyr,” which is available in the player below.

Daryl Mitchell comments: “For the ‘I, Martyr’ video, we went with an abstract idea. One that implies that a persecuted person, a potential martyr if you will, had fought back against their oppressor and won. Now she is dragging her victim’s bodies in order release their souls. Showing the struggles she has from carrying the guilt and then bleeding out and dying. We tried to not get to deep into the specifics in hopes that people would form their own opinion of how and why things happen the way they do. We hope you enjoy it.”

The track listing for “Plague” is:

1. Baptized in Lies
2. Cut
3. Suffering
4. Burn Your Idols
5. Soiled
6. Puncture
7. Plague
8. I, Martyr
9. Grey Skies
10. The Fallen

Zeal And Ardor Releases “Don’t You Dare” Live Video

Zeal & Ardor, the brainchild of Manuel Gagneux that mixes black metal and blues with lyrics delivered in the fashion of chain gang slave spirituals, just premiered brand new song “Don’t You Dare.”

This marks the first time the song has ever been heard and it was performed live at Couleur 3 studio in Lausanne, Switzerland on January 18th, 2017. Check out the video below.

The song does not appear on “Devil Is Fine,” Zeal & Ardor’s debut album, which is due out globally on February 24, 2017 and reviewed here.

Gagneux told Noisey, “The idea of something so horrible that merely looking at it will end you is fascinating to me. ‘Don’t You Dare’ thematically plays with biblical demons as well as Lovecraftian elements that lend themselves well to this idea. Since I wrote it after getting the band together, it’s not on the album, but will be performed on the upcoming tour. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoy playing it.”

Zeal & Ardor Streaming “Come On Down”

Zeal & Ardor just shared the new song “Come On Down” – listen to the black metal blues track below. “Come On Down” comes off the album “Devil Is Fine,” due out February 24th, 2017.

“Devil Is Fine” mixes a variety of genres, including black metal, blues, and more, while the lyrics are delivered in the fashion of slave spirituals sung by chain gangs.

Zeal & Ardor is the one-man brainchild of Manuel Gagneux, a Swiss-American formerly based in New York City. His approach draws on an alternate history and stems from two thoughts: Christianity was imposed upon American slaves, just as it was imposed in Norway, and black metal in the ’90s grew as a rebellion to monotheism. What would have happened if American slaves had rebelled in the same way? Or put bluntly: What would satanic spirituals sound like?

1. Devil Is Fine 03:12
2. In Ashes 02:38
3. Sacrilegium I 01:54
4. Come On Down 03:19
5. Children’s Summon 03:08
6. Sacrilegium II 02:11
7. Blood In The River 03:33
8. What is a Killer like you gonna do here? 02:15
9. Sacrilegium III 02:44

Mine Collapse Posts New Song “Mouthpiece”

The first single from Chicago trio Mine Collapse has come online – checking out the opening track to the band’s self-titled EP, “Mouthpiece,” in the player below.

Recorded with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Lord Mantis, Harm’s Way) at Bricktop Recording, and mastered by Carl Saff (Coliseum, Sofy Major, Young Widows), the self-titled debut from Mine Collapse delves into a uniquely heavy, jagged, sludge-punk sound featuring reverb-soaked vocals.

Clocking in at twenty-two minutes, the four-song EP shows layers of frantic noise rock and doom riffage stacked atop its jazz-infused pummeling drum style.

Issues the band on the EP’s lead song, “The dark lyrics of the opening track ‘Mouthpiece’ address the frustrations in the face of a corporatized culture and the inevitable surrender to it. — Fleeting false hope/ Dulling the point/ Left with no other choice/ Forced down/Until we choke.”

Mine Collapse has also confirmed a Chicago record release show for their debut EP, which sees the group supporting Child Bite and Snafu on July 30th.
