Ice Nine Kills Premiere New Music Video For “Stabbing In The Dark”

Ice Nine Kills debut a new music video for their track “Stabbing In The Dark” off their latest effort, “The Silver Scream“.

Comments Ice Nine Kills’ vocalist Spencer Charnas:

“I am proud to present what I believe to be the most intense installment yet of The Silver Scream film. ‘Stabbing In The Dark‘ is our tribute to John Carpenter‘s holy grail of slasher flicks — ‘Halloween‘. We also combine franchises here with a nod to ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street‘, as the security guard in the clip is played by the fantastic Ricky Dean Logan. He met his demise in ‘Freddy’s Dead‘ and that particular kill, where he gets his ear cut off, is widely known as Robert Englund‘s favorite death in the series.

He’s been in everything from horror to ‘Seinfeld‘ to ‘Back To The Future‘, so I knew he would be able to capture the essence of terror but with an underlying tongue-in-cheek spirit. The amazing people at Haunted Overload horror park in Lee, New Hampshire lent their amazing resources to us to make this the most visually stunning episode so far.”

It’s a fiery and captivating tune that serves the purpose of entangling the listener into the rest of the album. The video was created by the fantastic artist Costin Chioreanu, who uses the artwork and layout he created for the album as a vessel to give the song an extra dimension. It perfectly corresponds to our vision of what ‘Motherless‘ is.”

Assemble The Chariots Parts With Vocalist Kristo Sundström

Vocalist Kristo Sundström from Finnish outfit Assemble The Chariots just issued this announcement about departing the band:

“After a long period of uncertainty and doubt I have finally come to the decision that after today I will be stepping down from the lead vocalist position in Assemble the Chariots. Now, many of you will probably start speculating for the reasons of my departure from the band due to recent events, but let me assure you this is not a heat of the moment decision but rather one that took me years to decide.

“Being in ATC has been…interesting. When I first joined I was taken by their technical skills and the song ‘Necrophilia’ blew me away, but things chance and people change and I have come the conclusion that I am not the right person to be in Assemble the Chariots.

“A mix between professional and personal difference in opinions and other long term things have contributed to this decision, I felt it to be best that the band continues onwards with someone else leading the helm. What it all basically boils down to is how we wanted to act and work as a band and after a prolonged period of working against my own style this was an relatively easy decision.

“Now, I know how the internet works and that people will read that as in ‘oh he’s blaming the band for everything’ but in fact quite the opposite, they had their ways of doing things and I had mine, in the end I didn’t want to work like that and like with every job, if you are unhappy you should leave.

“This decision is best for me personally and professionally for Assemble. I will take a hiatus from music as I have been in bands for the better part of 14 years and I feel like I need to search myself a bit to find what I want to do in terms of music.

“But as in all things even bad news comes with a silver lining, now all you great growlers and screamers have your chance to hop on board one of the biggest Extreme core metal bands in Finland! I do feel this is an end of an era so to speak but I feel that this is 100% the right thing to do and best for all participating parties.

“So to all the wonderfull people I had the pleasure of working over the years, and all the fantastic people in the crowds and moshpits, I salute you and I thank you for you have given me the best memories a metal head like me could hope for, you are the MVP 🙂 I hope to see you guys in the bloodfilled moshpits real soon again! Thank you for everything and the best of luck!”

Sabaton Parts Ways With Guitarist Thobbe Englund

Sabaton has parted ways with guitarist Thobbe Englund. The band issued this statement online about the situation:

“Our colleague and brother Thobbe Englund has decided to part ways with Sabaton. We wish him nothing but success and good luck in the future, and we salute him for all the good years and the fantastic moments we shared both on and off the stage!

“Thobbe will do some more shows during the summer and play his final gig with Sabaton in our hometown Falun, on our own festival Sabaton Open Air, for the release party of our new album ‘The Last Stand.’ After that a new guitar player will carry on. Do not fear friends, the show will go on!”

Thobbe himself had this to say: Dear friends! Today I have decided to announce my leave from Sabaton. Why? …many may ask.

“There is this thing that I truly believe in, and that is that one should always follow the heart.
I have in recent years become more aware of what would make me feel real happiness and content, and that is to expand my own creativeness in combination with a somewhat stiller life, where I will not tour all year round at the speed of light.

“Unfortunately as a consequence I will not be able to meet all of you wonderful people out there, which is sad, and I´m really gonna miss you all. But I will still be making music, of course, and as I am writing this I am making plans for the future.

“During the many years of touring with Sabaton we have become like brothers. Together with the best crew in the world we´ve had a true blast and there is a bond between all of us that cannot be broken.

“Therefore I find no reason to be sentimental, because brothers and sisters are friends for life, and the future is bright! Always yours truly. Thobbe.”
