Primordial releases video for new single, “To Hell or the Hangman”

– February 20th, 2018 –

Irish Pagan Metal Gods Primordial will release their new album, Exile Amongst The Ruins, March 30th through Metal Blade Records. Teaming with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on Primordial‘s 2016 live album, Gods To The Godless, the record was tracked at Dublin’s Camelot Studios, located adjacent to their rehearsal room.

Primordial has now released the 2nd single from the album. To watch the video for “To Hell or the Hangman” (directed by Costin Chioreanu), please visit: youtube.com

Comments Primordial singer A.A. Nemtheanga: “In 1493 Walter Lynch was hanged by his own father James Lynch, Mayor of Galwayon on the West coast of Ireland for the murder of a young Spanish noblemen who was visiting the family home. He had fallen in love with a young woman by the name of Agnes in the Lynch of household and in a fit of jealous rage one night Walter took the young Spaniard’s life. The story goes that an angry ‘lynch mob’ took to the streets and barred the way to the usual execution spot so James took his son Walter and hung him with his bare hands from the open window into the street…He was lynched from the hanging sill. ‘To Hell or the Hangman’ is this story through Walter’s eyes, a tale of unrequited love with a murderous end. Enough drama for you? A curious and strange song for single number two from the new album, dark romanticism! so get on the dancefloor…”

For another preview of Exile Amongst The Ruins, the first single “Stolen Years” can be streamed at: metalblade.com/primordial – where the record can be pre-ordered in the following formats:

Once again building upon their signature sound, the follow up to 2014′s Where Greater Men Have Fallen is a more raw, “old school sounding” record than its predecessor. Hitting home with what vocalist A.A. Nemtheanga describes as “a direct energy” and wielding an urgency that is undeniable, the Irish quintet once again effortlessly blend elements of tragedy and might like no one else. Likewise, the evolution in their sound continues to be organic and unforced, ensuring that Exile Amongst The Ruins is essential listening for both their long term faithful and those only now drawn into their world.

Exile Amongst The Ruins track listing:
1. Nail Their Tongues
2. To Hell or the Hangman
3. Where Lie the Gods
4. Exile Amongst the Ruins
5. Upon Our Spiritual Deathbed
6. Stolen Years

8. Last Call

Destruction Drummer Wawrzyniec “Vaaver” Dramowicz Explains Why He’s Leaving The Band

As previously reported, Wawrzyniec “Vaaver” Dramowicz, drummer of German thrash metal legends Destruction, has announced that he will leave the band this March. He has since given a statement explaining his reasons for doing so, which reads:

“It is never easy to make hard decisions. It is time for me to part ways with Destruction – the band that has hosted me for nearly a decade; my brothers, my best buddies. Above all, these guys are great musicians that I have enjoyed countless performances with. 8 years with Destruction means more than words can describe. We shared the stage more than 500 times, travelled to the moon and back at least twice! It is time to drift my career towards more calm waters which surround my family. At the same time, Destruction needs to explore new exciting and challenging stages of their career. I would like to thank Schmier and Mike for giving me the opportunity to be a part of Destruction. I tried my best to enhance the band’s sound and groove with my skills. I could see the fans’ reactions around the world that came to the gigs and the signing sessions with tears in their eyes…just happy to see the band they had listened to since the beginning of the 80’s. It has been a truly unforgettable experience! I wish you guys all the best. I know you will find the right replacement with the skills and dedication that you deserve for your incredible band. I am not quitting my profession either. It is just a change in life that we all sometimes go through and have to adjust to new circumstances. Hope we meet again one day or night on your rough Destruction seas! Thank you Schmier and Mike…!”

Destruction frontman Schmier adds: “There is not much more to add in this moment of sorrow. We all know it really sucks to separate with people you cherish for reasons beyond control. So ‘family first’ is something we all have to accept. Vaaver was not just the best drummer we ever had and I don’t wanna diminish the dignity of any of our old drummers here, but he also was a killer dude and a great friend. So yes, this really hurts…of course he will stay a part of our clan and the big Destruction family! Cheers for all those fantastic years, our paths will definitely cross again and all the best for your future, Vaavski!”

To be clear, all shows will still be going ahead with Vaaver playing with Destruction until March. Randy Black, who already replaced him on his baby-break, will step in for the shows after March, until the band has decided who will be Vaaver’s worthy successor.

Former Suffocation Guitarist Guy Marchais Diagnosed With Hodgkins Lymphoma

Former Suffocation guitarist Guy Marchais has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer in the blood which attacks the immune system in the body and lymph nodes. A fundraiser has been set up for him, on which a statement reads:

“On January 19th, 2018, we found out that Guy Marchais was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a blood cancer effecting the body’s immmune system and lymph nodes. This comes just 80 days after his niece was diagnosed with the same exact thing. Although not genetic, lighting struck twice in our family. I’m calling to everyone to donate what you can. Even with health insurance, bills are piling up in the thousands. There are many more tests to be done before starting his treatment plan on February 5th, which includes chemo and possibly radiation. Our family is struggling and could really use your help.”

Destruction Drummer Wawrzyniec “Vaaver” Dramowicz To Leave The Band In March

German thrash metal legends Destruction has announced that drummer Wawrzyniec “Vaaver” Dramowicz will be leaving the band for family reasons this March, meaning he will still be with them for the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise and other dates in February. A statement from frontman Schmier reads as follows:

“It is an odd and sad headline at the same time,” says Destruction leader Schmier. “Our drummer Vaaver will leave us because of family reasons this March. After eight years this is bad news but we are still friends and wish him and his family all the best! He will release a statement ASAP!

“Most important: ALL shows will go ahead. Vaaver will play with us till this March. So give him a nice goodbye please!

“Mr. Randy Black, who already replaced him on his baby-break, will step in for the shows after March, until we decide who will be his worthy successor. Now we have almost beaten SPINAL TAP right?

“Good thing – no farewell tour yet! 😛 UNITED WE STAND, cheers for all the years Vaaver!”

Swedish death metallers Lik sign to Metal Blade Records

– January 10th, 2018 –

In the dirt where fallen icons lay to rest, the maggots and seeds spawned in 2014 a new creation. This took the ugly form of Lik, which fittingly means corpse in Swedish. An un-dead creation which offers a plate of savory old school death metal.

Metal Blade welcomes Lik to their roster. Lik comments: “The huge impact Metal Blade has had on the scene is something you can’t overlook, and being a part of this family is a ‘pinch yourself to see if you’re dreaming’ scenario! We can’t stress enough about how psyched we are and it’s just another sign that no frills death metal is still alive and breathing!”

Walking the earth for three cold winters, and with the first offer named Mass Funeral Evocation, it’ll have a sister released in May of 2018.

Lik has no passage as this entity is devoted to make a permanent mark on those who lay down their souls to Rock’n’Roll. The possessed souls to carry out the sonics are Tomas Akvik (Guitar/Vocals), Niklas Sandin (Guitar/Bass) and Christofer Barkensjo (Drums).

Former Revocation Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne Accepts $30,000 Settlement After Violent “Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival” Arrest

Ex-Revocation Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne – now drum-tech for Cannibal Corpse – has accepted a $30,000 settlement from the Oklahoma City Council. Dubois-Coyne, suffered a broken arm when police arrested him at a concert afterparty for a ‘Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival‘ stop, early Aug. 8, 2014, at the Downtown Airpark.

The drummer was charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer. According to a report on the settlement filed by NewsOK Dubois-Coyne was among those chanting ‘fuck the police’ and singing the lyrics of Body Count‘s “Cop Killer” after watching the police arrest another individual.

“I felt this was beginning to incite actions against us and we were easily outnumbered by the crowd,” one officer wrote in a crime report.

The arresting officer, Kenneth Lile, reported he first tried to calm Dubois-Coyne down and explained officers were just trying to help an assault victim. He reported Dubois-Coyne leaned in and yelled, “Fuck you, kill ’em all!”

The officer reported he had to take Dubois-Coyne to the ground because the drummer was resisting being handcuffed. “I got him up and he said his arm was broken. I could see his upper left arm did appear broken,” the officer wrote. “The crowd around us began to get unruly.”

The officer reported Dubois-Coyne “was yelling profanity, insults and threats towards me and my family.” He also stated that the crowd had turned ugly and that he was forced to use his taser on an individual to get back to his police car.

“I could see other officers also making it through the crowd and they covered my back,” he wrote.

Dubois-Coyne filed a lawsuit against the city and three police officers in 2016, alleging false arrest and excessive force. The settlement arrives ahead of a jury trial which had been set to begin in January in Oklahoma City federal court.

Dark Avenger Singer Mario Linhares Has Passed Away

Rockshots Records shares the following sad news with us:

“With heavy heart and deep sadness we must confirm that Dark Avenger’s founder and singer Mario Linhares has passed away yesterday, December 22.

The world has lost one of the most talented singer and person, an incredible voice that will last forever in our hearts. It was an honour and a gift to work together, and we were lucky enough to meet and share some unforgettable moments with him, here at Rockshots headquarters.

Upon all, he was an incredible person sincerely in love with life and music, generous and kind as rarely happens in business and everyday life.
His legacy won’t be forgotten, and we’ll do everything possible to spread it all around as a proof of how rare and immortal his talent was.

Our sincere condolences to his family, his beloved wife Désirée and all the guys in Dark Avenger.”

As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Issues New Apology Statement

As I Lay Dying frontman issues the below statement via the band’s social media, in which he apologizes for his past actions. Lambesis spent two years in prison after he pled guilty to a charge of solicitation of another to commit murder. The charge stemmed from Lambesis unknowingly attempting to hire an undercover cop posing as a hitman to murder his now ex-wife, Meggan Lambesis, back in 2013.

States Tim Lambesis:

Words cannot begin to express how deeply sorry I am for the hurt that I have caused. There is no defense for what I did, and I look back on the person I became with as much disdain as many of you likely do.

First, I apologize to my former wife and remarkable children for my appalling actions. There’s not a single day that goes by where I don’t wish I could undo the damage I caused, and out of respect for their wishes I will not discuss anything else about them (now or in the future).

I also ask anyone reading this to promote healing for them by respecting their privacy and defending them from any negativity or anger which should be directed towards me. I was the sole offender and the only one to blame for everything that happened.

To my family, I apologize for the trauma you faced and may still feel. This is an ongoing sentence many of you serve because of me. I am so sorry to my friends who were betrayed by everything I hid from them and all the hardships I caused people who used to work with me. Band mates, road crew, managers, attorneys, agents, label people, and more all had to suffer through many unexpected changes because of my actions.

While they were dealing with the aftermath of my arrest, I responded toward many of them with bitterness that I should have directed toward myself. I know that I can’t undo the animosity I brought their way, but I hope to mend what I can now as time goes on.

To the people who looked up to me as an artist, I let you down in so many ways. I tried to show my best side to the public, while feeding an ugly growing monster behind closed doors. I wrote lyrics about the person I wanted to be rather than the person that I was. I was living a life that lacked empathy and viewed everything through a self-motivated lens.

I cannot say for certain what life looks like going forward as so much is different now and I’m still learning. Music always has and always will be a part of me, and has helped me get through the darkest parts of my journey. However, this apology is not a part of promoting anything. Rumors circulate, and that’s something I’ve learned to accept, but this apology is just that, an apology to everyone around me.

I’ve remained silent to the public since expressing remorse at my sentencing because time seemed like the best way to promote healing. Today marks the first opportunity to freely apologize without any motivation to gain favor from the courts, as I have now completed the entirety of my legal sentence (including the completion of all parole/probation requirements).

Let it be clear that no amount of time served can right my wrongs. I do not feel deserving of a second chance and am not asking for anyone’s trust. The way many people feel about me makes sense, and only time will tell if my future actions line up with my remorse, something I pray for every day. In the last five years, the ripple effect of all my actions has extended further than a written statement can address. Thus, I will continue to apologize in both words and actions moving forward.

Thank you for reading,
Tim”
