Sleeping Giant Debut New Song & Announce Final Album & Farewell Shows

Sleeping Giant announces that they will be calling it quits shortly after the January 26th release date of their new album “I Am” via Facedown Records. A first track from that album can be streamed below and features a guest turn from Silent Planet‘s vocalist Garrett Russell.

Sleeping Giant singer Tommy Green says of the band’s plans to call it quits:

“For me personally this band has been such an important and special gift for my actual life that I needed to know that I was actually at a point where I could let go and move on. I didn’t want to feel grief like there was something unexpressed unsaid or undone in me. This band has become the public/private journal of my story or my life.

It is one of the most important things I have ever done in my life. It’s crazy, beautiful, hard, awesome, cathartic, creative and mission all at the same time. In regards to this being a thought out deliberate decision to make I AM The final Project, for myself I am at a point where I feel like I have crossed some significant finish lines in my journey and things have come full circle.

A friend told me most people never have a vision for the end, I wanted to make sure we had a vision For the end not just the beginning, so to come To the end, but not just let it fail and fall apart. I wanted to have a vision for the end. I think we are doing that now.

At Facedown Fest 2016 we talked to JD and asked him if he would consider helping us to say goodbye. We wanted to finish where we started and show respect and honor for the label that helped us get our first exposure and created space for us to grow at home in Southern California. Stepping away from Facedown and becoming a traveling band and working with so many others, it became evident that there is something really special about Facedown; honestly this is just such a gift for the FD crew to be willing to take this on as a last project.

Our last show will be 12 years to the date of our first show back home. I couldn’t and wouldn’t have done this, risked speaking and sharing my personal story without all the people that have made this band. Respect for your sacrifices and for your gifts and talents and efforts. You are all a part of Sleeping Giant.”
The band’s final shows include:

01/28 Dallas, TX – Trees
02/17 Pomona, CA – The Glass House

Facedown Festival 2013 Lineup Announced

Facedown Records has checked in with the following statement about the upcoming Facedown Festival:

“We are very excited to announce that Facedown Fest 2013 will take place on April 12 & 13 at the Stronghold in Chino, CA. The entire active Facedown roster will be playing the event and tickets are just $10 each night! We also have a limited amount of deluxe ticket packages available which include a limited edition screen printed poster, Facedown Fest 2013 root beer, Facedown Fest T-Shirt, Facedown backpack, sunglasses and more!”

Facedown founder Jason Dunn had the following to say about this year’s fest: “Facedown Fest began in 2000 at an amazing venue called the Showcase Theatre. Over the years the fest grew and unfortunately the Showcase theatre had to shut its doors. I loved the energy of those early years from both the bands and the crowd and I am excited to have that again as Facedown Fest returns to a more intimate venue. The people at the Stronghold have been so supportive of our bands and label over the years so it just made sense to do this there. Plus, with the lower overhead we can offer $10 tickets to the people who are responsible for keeping Facedown alive for all of these years. This is one way for us to say thanks and give back to our incredible Family of supporters.”

You can buy tickets and deluxe bundles exclusively at this location.

Leaders Signs With Facedown Records For Release Of "Now We Are Free"

Facedown Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Leaders for the release of a new album:

“We are proud to announce that we have signed Leaders to Facedown Records. Before going through a line-up and name change in 2011, Leaders shared the stage with Flyleaf, Blindside, and Brian ‘Head’ Welch as ALLORNOTHING.

“Now, Leaders are storming onto the hardcore and metal scenes with their powerful debut album Now We Are Free. Comprised of 10 tracks engineered by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios (As Blood Runs Black, All Shall Perish, In the Midst of Lions), Now We Are Free blends metal and hardcore influences seamlessly and is a must have album for fans of Hatebreed and Living Sacrifice.

“Leaders will be taking their live show on the road and will be on tour for all of 2012. The band describes their live shows as ‘powerful, intimate, and real. With enough character and groove to the rhythm that it makes you want to move.’ Now, they look forward to touring with a solid line-up and new music.”

Leaders will release “Now We Are Free,” on March 27th, 2012 and will be supporting it at Facedown Fest 2012.
