Augury Inks Record Deal With The Artisan Era

The wait is nearly over! Montreal-based progressive death metal crew Augury has been hard at work the last few years writing and recording a highly-anticipated third album to follow 2009’s “Fragmentary Evidence.”

Today the band is proud to announce signing a record deal with rising extreme metal label The Artisan Era, which will be followed by the release of Augury’s 3rd album in 2018.

The Canadian group comments: “We are proud to announce that Augury has teamed with The Artisan Era Records for the release of our third album. While the recording is entering the mixing/mastering process with Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy) at The Grid Studios, Augury is back with a new creation, lyrically influenced by lost civilizations and their enigmas, musically following the roots from the two predecessors, 2004’s ‘Concealed,’ and 2009’s ‘Fragmentary Evidence.’ The album’s artwork and title will be disclosed in a further statement, so brace yourselves for its emergence in Spring 2018!”

New Solo Album “Shadow Work” Announced By Warrel Dane

Warrel Dane, legendary vocalist of Sanctuary and Nevermore, will return with his second solo album, currently created under the guidance of renowned producer Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Halford, Helloween, Sebastian Bach) in 2018.

Titled “Shadow Work,” the album is the follow up to the 2008’s acclaimed, “Praises to the War Machine,” and stylistically strays away from its predecessor, which leaned towards a goth-tinged, less metallic rock sound. First rough mixes already reveal that “Shadow Work” will offer darker, heavier, more complex songs, occasionally flirting with extreme metal by incorporating such elements as blast beats and combining this with Warrel Dane’s unique, dramatic trademark vocals.

As with the previous Warrel Dane solo tours, including the 15th anniversary tour celebrating Nevermore’s classic, “Dead Heart in a Dead World,” the line-up for the record will consist of Johnny Moraes (guitars), Thiago Oliveira (guitars), Fabio Carito (bass) and Marcus Dotta (drums), who all have been playing with the Dane since 2014.

“Shadow Work” will be recorded during Autumn 2017 and is expected to be released in the first half of 2018 via Century Media Records worldwide.

New EP “Cultus In Tenebris” Announced By Ctulu

German sea storming extreme metal act Ctulu will release the 4-Track EP entitled “Cultus in Tenebris” on October 6th in the U.S. via Static Tension Recordings.

“Cultus in Tenebris” was recorded at the same time as the 2016 selt-titled album. Ctulu wanted to reduce both these works to minimum duration while containing maximum quality. The band has never before filtered so many ideas that didn’t make it on the final release.

“Cultus in Tenebris” is a concept EP that tries to catch the spirit of Necronomicon rituals. It is a gathering of exotic weirdness, of seeing in the dark, of praising the old, capricious, mad and wild gods. This is Ctulu’s first genuine U.S. release.

More information on the EP is expected soon. The artwork can be seen here:

Pyrrhon Unveils New Album “What Passes For Survival”

Continuing to shapeshift while using unorthodox songwriting techniques that border on the incomprehensible, avant-garde extreme metal quartet Pyrrhon returns with “What Passes For Survival,” due out August 8th.

Throatruiner Records comments: “Dense, volatile, and drenched in manic ferocity, ‘What Passes For Survival’ is an aural challenge that refuses to adhere to genre conventions, merging strategic orchestrated bursts of death metal chaos with expanses of unhinged improvisation.

“The latest stage of Pyrrhon’s metamorphosis is one that demands repeated audio submersion from the listener, and satisfies those craving sonic extremity that pushes limits. Recorded live, mixed, and mastered by Colin Marston at The Thousand Caves, the album features artwork by Caroline Harrison.”
