Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel and Monte Pittman to guest on tomorrow’s Howard Stern Wrap Up Show

– September 28th, 2016 –

Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel will appear alongside guitarist Monte Pittman on this Thursday’s edition of “The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show”. They will discuss this week’s happening’s on The Howard Stern Show and Monte‘s new album Inverted Grasp of Balance, which was released this past Friday via Metal Blade Records. The show airs at 11:00 AM EST on Howard 101 on SiriusXM and repeats throughout the day.

Inverted Grasp Of Balance can be previewed and purchased in various formats now at: metalblade.com/montepittman

To assert that Pittman has had a storied career is something of an understatement. His resume includes an ongoing and fruitful collaboration with multi-platinum selling artist Madonna, having recorded and toured with her extensively over a period of more than fifteen years. Then there’s his first band, Myra Mains, his stint in the metallic behemoth that is Prong, and collaborations with a broad spectrum of international artists. If his time with Prong did not fully communicate just how much metal flowed through his veins, with 2014′s Flemming Rasmussen-produced The Power Of Three – his first release with Metal Blade Records – he compellingly blended killer riffs, blistering leads and gigantic hooks to deliver an album that was equal parts anthemic grandeur and in-your-face attitude, making metalheads around the world sit up and take note.

Now, for his latest offering, Inverted Grasp Of Balance, Pittman teamed up with powerhouse drummer Richard Christy of Charred Walls Of The Damned/Iced Earth/Death fame and virtuoso bassist Billy Sheehan, famous for his work with a plethora of talented artists – including David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and, more recently, Winery Dogs – the skill of all concerned explodes from the speakers. With such passionate professionals and Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther) handling production duties, the record came together quickly and smoothly. This really is the proverbial “whole package”: an album that has been lovingly crafted in all aspects, that Pittman hopes reaches as many ears as possible. “I had a true vision for this record from the start, and I couldn’t imagine a better team to help me realize it,” Pittman comments. “We’re going to make some real noise with ‘Inverted Grasp Of Balance‘ – so get ready!”

Inverted Grasp Of Balance track-listing:
1. Panic Attack
2. Arisen in Broad Daylight

Deathbound Records Inks Deal With Savagist

Deathbound Records is proud to kick off 2016 with the signing of Georgia’s three piece sludge merchants Savagist.

Formed by Jason Richardson (Drums), Daniel Shroyer (Bass & Vocals) and Clem Adams (Guitar & Vocals), Savagist’s sound is almost impossible to pigeonhole. In our opinion, the following quote from Maximum Rocknroll hits the nail right on the head: “Metal as fuck. Stripped down and slower crusty death metal with agro lyrics about the bleak relationship between humans and nature. Savagist taps a primal cord then pounds on it.” Savagist would fit perfectly on a playlist featuring early Mastodon, Baroness and Neurosis.

After releasing a 7inch in 2010, three cassettes in 2011 and an EP in 2012, it’s now time for Savagist’s followers to get the full treatment. Their first full length album “Invisible Birth of Death” is set to be released in early 2016 through Deathbound Records. More information is expected soon.

The band has been making the rounds for a while and has shared the stage with acts such as Kylesa, Weedeater, Black Tusk and High On Fire just to name a few. Savagist will tour extensively in 2016 and are ready to take their music to the next level.

ARTILLERY signs to Metal Blade!

– July 11th, 2013 –

Metal Blade welcomes legendary Danish Thrashers ARTILLERY to their arsenal!

Denmark’s ARTILLERY is one Europe’s earliest thrash metal exports, and their contribution to the bourgeoning genre is difficult to ignore. The Danish quartet successfully managed to fuse an abrasive brutality with technicality and strong melodies, with the noteworthy guitar leads of the Stützer-brothers serving as highlights.

ARTILLERY was formed in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup, Denmark in 1982 by Michael and Morten Stützer. Since then, ARTILLERY have gone thru numerous line-up changes and released six studio LPs. The first period of ARTILLERY‘s existence gave the world the three classic albums Fear of Tomorrow, Terror Squad and By Inheritance, featuring some of the finest moments of thrash metal Europe has ever put out.

After an eight-year hiatus ARTILLERY returned in style in 1999, sounding as fresh and hungry as ever before without sounding like one of those nostalgia acts. The three albums B.A.C.K., When Death Comes and My Blood put ARTILLERY not only back on the map, but also to the top of their genre.

ARTILLERY comments on the signing: “Artillery is very proud to have signed with legendary Metal Blade Records! Metal Blade is the company who released Metallica’s first song, Slayer’s and Trouble’s debut records and who in their line-up have our fellow Danes Mercyful Fate/King Diamond signed. With their over 30 years of experience in the business this is a big step forward for Artillery. We can’t wait to have our new album released on Metal Blade, and we are looking forward to promote it with our first American tour ever. We also want to thank Metal Mind and Agnieszka for the last 5 years!”

Since the release of their last album My Blood in 2011 ARTILLERY have played European and US tours and appeared at several festivals and the Barge To Hell cruise. In 2012 ARTILLERY saw the departure of Carsten N. Nielsen and Søren Adamsen. Two new members were recruited, making Josua Madsen the new drummer and Michael Bastholm Dahl the new singer. Touring plans for the rest of 2013 include the U.S. as well as South America, making the band tour extensively for the rest of the year.

A new album has been recorded in the spring of 2013 and is right now in the stage of mixing and mastering. More info on the new ARTILLERY longplayer will be revealed shortly!

ARTILLERY:
Michael Bastholm Dahl – vocals
Michael Stützer – guitars
Morten Stützer – guitars
Peter Thorslund – bass
Josua Madsen – drums

Mammoth Grinder Reveals New Album “Underworlds” Details

It’s been nearly four years since the last Mammoth Grinder full-length “Extinction Of Humanity” was released via Relapse Records (CD) and Cyclopean Records (LP). Now in 2013, Mammoth Grinder has found a home on 20 Buck Spin for the release of third full-length album “Underworlds.” The following press release was issued about the album:

“Underworlds marks a peak at which Mammoth Grinder have sharpened and perfected their sound into a seething grind/death/thrash maelstrom of intense degree; unrelenting in its concentrated raw precision and focused power, Underworlds careens violently through ten tracks with effortless versatility and the fixated songcraft expected of a band on their third record.

“Tracks like ‘Wraparound Eyes’ with its Unleashed style mid-section or the short sharp shock of ‘Paragon Pusher’ illustrate Mammoth Grinder’s mastery over multiple variations of metal to assemble their own sound. Fans of Entombed, Pig Destroyer, Municipal Waste, Discharge, Napalm Death and Iron Lung will beat themselves into submission for missing out on this album, so do yourself a favor, and don’t miss out on it…

“Mammoth Grinder is a live band and that is where the songs on Underworlds will expose their most virulent strain. Additionally the album is adorned with artwork by the legendary Joe Petagno whose work has graced albums from artists like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to Mot

Nero Di Marte Inks Deal With Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of experimental metallers Nero Di Marte. The label comments:

“Founded in Bologna, Italy in 2007, Nero Di Marte will unveil their long-awaited self-titled release, a unique and experimental approach to structure, sound and atmosphere, in the spring of 2013. You can check out a teaser video of the new album below.

“Nero di Marte is the Italian name of a pigment, an iron oxide that produces a deep, dark, intense black that, when in contact with other colors, can permanently coat or noticeably transform them. Formerly known as Murder Therapy, the band signed to Dutch label Deity Down Records to release their debut ‘Symmetry of Delirium’ in 2009, which showcased a very personal style of modern death metal. They have played numerous shows and festivals around Italy and Europe, including performances with major acts such as Cynic, Decapitated, The Ocean, Intronaut, Ulcerate, Svart Crown, Red Fang, Jucifer, The Secret and more. The group also performed at the prestigious Neurotic Deathfest in Tilburg (NL) with Carcass, Immolation, Six Feet Under, Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower and Origin among many others.

“The band’s broadened approach to songwriting was already audible in the 2010 self-released EP ‘Molochian,’ which marked a stylistic step forward towards more progressive and atmospheric compositions. The following year, the group entered the studio to work on their new album. It was recorded in roughly nine days at Regrexion Studios with Michele Trasforini and then mixed and mastered at Studio73 in Ravenna with producer Riccardo “Paso” Pasini (Ephel Duath, The Secret, Extrema, At the Soundawn).

“During the summer of 2012 the band decided to change its name to Nero di Marte, the name their new album was originally given; they now have a few shows in Italy to finish up the year, including dates with Norway’s Virus. and are planning to tour extensively in 2013 to promote the record.”

Vocalist/guitarist Sean Worrell commented, “We are absolutely thrilled and honored to be working with Prosthetic Records, a label which has had and still has some of the most amazing bands out there. We are very thankful to them and can’t wait for you all to hear our album, the release of which is long overdue. We will hopefully see you on the road during 2013!”

Duncan Dinsdale, European label manager of Prosthetic Records, added, “It’s a rarity to discover such an exciting and forward-thinking new band that equally balances texture, heaviness, intelligence and perfect musicianship as Nero Di Marte does with ease. We’re very excited for you to hear the upcoming new album shortly.”
