Sodom To Release New EP, “Partisan” In November

Attention all Sodom fans, there’s exciting news from Tom Angelripper & Co. On the one hand, the band are currently at the studio to record new material, on the other their next shows are scheduled for early September, and the end of November will see the start of their extensive MTV Headbangers Ball Tour 2018 alongside Exodus, Death Angel and Suicidal Angels.

And as if that wasn’t enough great news, the best bit of intelligence comes directly from the thrash metal act’s inner circle…

“We’re a real family again,” enthuses frontman Angelripper following the band’s lineup change in spring 2018. “We all really enjoy the new lineup consisting of Frank Blackfire (guitar, ex-Sodom, ex-Kreator, Assassin), Yorck Segatz (guitar, Beyondition), Husky (drums, Asphyx, Desaster) and myself. There’s a real team spirit again, we’re having a great time together, every one of us is interested in everything and – really important! – everybody is there for everybody else. Obviously that kind of atmosphere is bound to have a positive effect on the songwriting.”

Examples? Sodom’s new Partisan EP will be out in November, featuring three tracks including a live recording from this year’s Rock Hard Festival. The new lineup could hardly present itself in a more impressive manner!

Partisan will be released through SPV/Steamhammer on November 23rd as CD digipak, 10″ clear vinyl, download and stream.

Tracklisting:

1. Partisan
2. Conflagration
3. Tired & Red (Live at the Rock Hard Festival 2018)

Debut Self-Titled EP To Be Released By Lark

Progressive sludge/stoner metal band Lark is set to release the debut, self-titled album on October 31st. The band features former members of Bright Curse and Sail In Between.

Lark is the overdue collaboration of two French brothers, Raph, former guitarist and lead singer of Sail In Between and former bassist of Angher Incorporated and Zach, former drummer of Bright Curse. The elder resides in their native south of France, while the younger moved to London in 2009 to explore the UK music scene.

Zach evolved in the stoner, psyche and hard rock tones in recent years while Raph followed his love for hardcore and prog, but their tastes meet in a rock and metal avalanche of riffs, grooves and all that is heavy. They shared a vision of music that combines massive and textured sound with the groove of their early metal influence.

The two brothers rapidly found ways around the distance between them and started their first creative collaboration at the beginning of 2017. The EP came to life thanks to the help of Robin Mariat of Grey Matter Studio (Lyon, Fr), Chris Painter of Red Roof Sounds (London, Uk), Marco of Marc&Cheese (London, Uk) and Jake Read of Living Room Studios (London, Uk).

The band is set to release their first EP “Lark,” a new blend of metal inspired by Mastodon, Opeth, Gojira, Black Peaks, Russian Circles and more this fall. The D-day is set for Halloween 2017 when the extensive network of VIPs will meet and celebrate at a location not yet disclosed.

Imperialist Announces Debut Album “Cipher”

Black metal band Imperialist will unleash debut album “Cipher” on November 28th, 2017. Check out the cover art and track listing below.

Imperialist was established in Los Angeles in early 2013 by Sergio Soto. Once the compositions had been crafted, Sergio called upon Rod Quinones, a long-time friend who had been playing the drums for over a decade due to his extensive training in drumline and his high school marching band.

Soto and Quinones quickly gathered an ease in working through the compositions and decided to request for Bryant, the other half of the Quinones, to join them as the second pair of virtuosic strings. Once the songs had been further conquered, they gained Adrian Castaneda on bass, as he had learned bass early on in his studies, and was ready to transition to a more serious target.

At the beginning of 2017, Imperialist ventured to Trench Studios to record and mix this debut full-length album with John Trench in Pomona, CA. “Cipher” was mastered by Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams, The Faceless, Aborted).

Der Weg Einer Freiheit Posts New Song “Skepsis Part II”

Der Weg Einer Freiheit is now premiering the first sinister track taken from upcoming fourth studio album “Finisterre.” The song, “Skepsis Part II,” can be heard below. Frontman Nikita Kamprad comments on behalf of the band:

“We are extremely stoked to finally be able to present the first new track taken from our upcoming album ‘Finisterre’. In comparison to the quite complex and progressive instrumental ‘Skepsis Part I’, the now premiered ‘Skepsis Part II’ is a more straight forward composition, in which epic melodies are aggressively building up until the doomy grand finale.

“Ultimately, we consider both parts of ‘Skepsis’ to be connected and forming one extensive musical piece. This lyric video also provides an impression and closer look at the extensive album artwork, which was created by our friend Max Löffler once again. Enjoy!”

Morbid Saint Announces “Spectrum Of Death” Vinyl Re-Issue

A masterpiece of raw and rabid, deadly thrashing madness is going to return as a stunning reissue on March 11th, 2016 via Century Media Records: Morbid Saint’s “Spectrum of Death!”

Originally recorded as a demo in the late 80’s and produced by Eric Greif (Acrophet, Viogression), the 1990 released album by the Wisconsin thrashers offers a vicious and intense mix of early Slayer, Kreator, and Dark Angel that has not lost any of its violent impact.

After a series of low-key reissues and shabby bootlegs, “Spectrum of Death” will now be released on digital form, double CD, and vinyl, visually orientating on the original design in a gatefold sleeve to house the extensive 8-page LP-sized booklet.

For this release, founding member Jay Visser (guitar) dug deep into his personal archive and excavated tons of rare photos, obscure logo designs, and flyers as well as telling the history of Morbid Saint in a detailed interview.

Whereas the “Spectrum of Death” album was specially mastered for vinyl, and hardly touched to preserve its original sound, all other tracks have been carefully restored and remastered by Patrick W. Engel / Temple Of Disharmony (Iced Earth, Grave, Massacra). Pre-orders are up now at this location.

Nervecell Working On New Album

The follow-up to Nervecell’s “Psychogenocide” album is finally on the horizon, with the band offering this update:

“We have been working on new material for quite some time now and already have a few songs arranged and finalized with a lot more ideas still floating around at this stage.

“With all the extensive touring schedules and experiences we’ve had during the last 4 years, it’s only become more certain that the way forward for us musically is to dwell more into the extreme direction, fueled together with that Middle Eastern rage in our music and maintaining the classic Nervecell death / thrash stance. So rest assure, no one will be disappointed!”
