For another preview of Return To The Void, the title track and previous single “Eternal Recurrence” can be heard at: metalblade.com/execration – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:
–Digipak CD

* plus digital options are also available!

“Coming off of two double 12″ vinyl albums, the first clear goal for writing ‘Return To The Void‘ was to deliver the same kind of dynamic and shifting song-writing in a more condensed to-the-point package”, comments Execration. Stripping songs down to their essential core has been a driving force while writing, and it shows – there is not a wasted moment on the album. Ticking in at 42 minutes – a perfect fit for the vinyl format – the album takes the listener through a whirlwind of thrash, death, black, and even heavy metal, fast and slow parts, and the trademark Execration shifts in mood, tempo, and atmosphere.

“As with the previous two albums, we wanted to capture the feel of a live performance, so all the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live in our rehearsal studio in Oslo over the course of a weekend. Vocals, synths, and various effects where recorded the following weeks with assistance from Andreas Tylden (One Tail, One Head / Altaar). The album was then mixed and mastered by Tom Kvalsvoll of Kvalsonic Labs.”

Thematically, the album takes off into outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space. The album’s seven songs and two instrumental tracks are permeated with the mysteries of the universe, both in lyrical content and concept, and in the music itself. This theme is further brought to life by the magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.

Execration releases new single, “Eternal Recurrence”, online

– June 20th, 2017 –

On July 14th, Norwegian death metallers Execration will release their new album, Return To The Void, via Metal Blade Records. Today the band premieres a new album track, “Eternal Recurrence” – which can be heard at: youtube.com/watch?v=fTpOOBc0U8A

Execration comments: “‘Eternal Recurrence’ is the first track off ‘Return To The Void‘ – it will grab hold of you and throw you into space, drag you back down to earth and take you on a journey through ancient caves and deep into the graveyard of your inner mind. The song was one of the first written for ‘Return To The Void‘, and it set the stage for the rest of the song-writing for the album.”

For another preview of Return To The Void, the title track can be heard at: metalblade.com/execration – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

Execration Signs With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide, multi-album signing of Norwegian death metal group Execration.

Execration comments: “We’re really excited to pen this deal with Metal Blade. Metal Blade is a legendary label, with legendary bands and releases from all the way back to the beginning, and joining the ranks is a true privilege. After an eventful year with touring and receiving a Norwegian Grammy Award for our latest album, we are now ready to embark on the next chapter for Execration, and we’re confident that Metal Blade is the perfect partner in doing so.”

Execration formed in 2004 and unleashed a few demos and an EP before releasing debut full-length, “Syndicate Of Lethargy,” in 2008. It wasn’t until 2011 and the release of sophomore effort, “Odes Of The Occult,” that the band gained more recognition in the scene, which resulted in acclaimed reviews and high-profile festival performances, including Inferno Festival, Beyond the Gates, and Killtown Deathfest, plus a tour of southern Europe.

Before the next release, Execration replaced the B-tuned guitars with regular E-tuning, which offered new opportunities in terms of sound and what kinds of riffs would work well. This sparked the creative period that created 2014’s “Morbid Dimensions” – the band’s third album.

Execration is now in the final stages of the songwriting process for a fourth album, but unlike the previous two releases, this upcoming effort will not mark a dramatic stylistic shift. Fans can expect an array of catchy, complex, prog-infused, intense tracks that will surely garner accolades once again. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.

Execration Streaming Full “Morbid Dimensions” Album

The death metal alchemists from Execration are streaming the entirety of their forthcoming “Morbid Dimensions” album – set for North American release on December 9th via Hells Headbangers (Duplicate Records will be handling the European release). Check it out through the Bandcamp player below. Hells Headbangers comments:

“In many ways, Execration’s third album is an album of contrasts: death metal in its purest state, but with a view toward experimentation; doomy and atmospheric at will, but with a forward propulsion that’s palpitating; a well-grounded set of old-school influences, particularly homeland heroes Cadaver, but without the slightest whiff of ‘retro’ pandering. All told, Morbid Dimensions is the sound of a still young ‘n’ hungry band carving out their own niche, and with absolute cunning and confidence.”

The track listing is as follows:

1. Cosmic Mausoleum
2. Ritual Hypnosis
3. Doppelgangers
4. Morbid Dimensions
5. Tribulation Shackles
6. Vestiges
7. Ancient Tongue
8. Miasmal Sabbath
9. Funeral Procession

Execration Announces “Morbid Dimensions” Release

Today, Hells Headbangers sets December 9th as the North American release date for Execration’s “Morbid Dimensions” (Duplicate Records will be handling the European release). Hells Headbangers also issued this press release:

“One of death metal’s best-kept secrets, Norway’s Execration trike with their deadliest and most daring album yet, Morbid Dimensions. Ever aptly titled, Morbid Dimensions is a twisting and twisted slab of miasmic, morbid Metal of Death. The listener is kept on edge the entire time, in a state of perpetual tension, as the quartet deftly slide through sinewy, sometimes-slimy riff and rhythm structures, all executed with stunning tightness yet also a sense of hysteric dangerousness.

All told, Morbid Dimensions is the sound of a still young ‘n’ hungry band carving out their own niche, and with absolute cunning and confidence. A ‘best-kept secret’ no longer – behold the rise of Execration!”
