Megadeth Announces Dirk Verbeuren (Ex-Soilwork) As New Permanent Drummer

Megadeth has now officially recruited Ex-Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren as permanent new member of the band. Verbeuren has exited Soilwork for this opportunity. States the band in the following press release:

“Megadeth are happy to announce the addition of Dirk Verbeuren as the band’s new drummer. Verbeuren, formerly of Swedish metal band Soilwork, has been performing with the band for months, his first show was Rock on the Range festival in May, to a crowd of 40,000 concertgoers.

Most recently, Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler had performed all the drums on the band’s latest album, Dystopia, and had toured with Megadeth when not otherwise busy with his band.

Said bandleader Dave Mustaine: “Chris Adler‘s contributions are sure to be felt for years to come. Megadeth has been revitalized by Chris‘ playing, as well as his excellent suggestion of Dirk Verbeuren to drum with us. Tremendous thanks to Chris, and a big welcome to Dirk.”

New drummer Verbeuren had this to say: “Dave, David and Kiko, I’m thankful for your warm welcome and thrilled at the opportunity to perform and create badass music with you guys. Chris Adler, thank you for introducing me to Megadeth – and for your encouragement and support.”

Said Adler: “It has been an honor and a pleasure to join my favorite band of all time, and to be a part of their return to the top. I had an amazing time with everyone involved, from the writing, arranging and recording, to the touring and friendships built along the way. There was no argument or drama, no hidden story. Megadeth needs and deserves a full time drummer, and as much as I’d like to be, I can’t be in two places at once.

For my part, I am very lucky to be a part of Lamb of God, and to also have gotten a chance to dance with my heroes at the ball. I still can’t believe it sometimes when I think of myself as a kid, opening up my Megadeth albums…and now I’m an alumni! I’m very proud of that – and I will continue to be their biggest fan.”

The Company Corvette Streaming New Song “Devilwitch”

Philadelphia’s The Company Corvette has completed third full-length recording, “Never Enough,” with the final details being put in place for an independent August 5th release to be held in conjunction with the band’s performance at Psycho Las Vegas and more.

Remaining true to the band’s heavy riff-laden, psychedelically inclined, occasionally laid back, mostly loud, stoner rock-gone-metal-and-back stylistics, The Company Corvette has been fine-tuning and intensifying that sound, reaching towards new levels of sonic honesty.

“Never Enough” contains seven songs recorded at Gradwell House Recording in New Jersey with Matt Weber at helm, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Sleep, Yob, Corrosion Of Conformity) in Oregon.

The album features cover artwork by the excellent Drew Elliott (Sunn O)), Amorphis, Rwake, Necrophagia), which captures the imagery within the track “Devilwitch.” Check out that song below. The full track listing is as follows:

1. Foot In Mouth
2. Devilwitch
3. Sick
4. Stomach
5. Burn Out
6. The Stuff
7. Pigeon

Rapheumets Well Streams Full New Album “The Exile”

Rapheumets Well is gearing up to drop sophomore release “The Exile” on March 18th, 2016 via Test Your Metal Records. Today the band offers a full album stream, which can be heard below courtesy of the excellent

Drummer Joshua Ward comments on the album: “Our album ‘The Exile’ we felt was a alluring story following our release of ‘Dimensions’ due to its more personal nature. The story, while taking place on a distant planet follows the journey of Darmak Ildna, a military commander from the Sunak Empire. A malevolent deity of a sorts lands on the planet and enforces his mandate. We wrote this album to reflect this journey.

“From flesh eating gates and alien invasions to time and space being ripped and the protagonist getting his skin peeled from his bones, it needed a amalgamation of brutal riffing with cosmic soundscapes to portray this. We were able to record and master this ourselves so we are very happy with all the work we have done. Thanks to Test Your Metal Records, we have a medium to share our creation.”

If you missed it, Rapheumets Well also gave us one hell of an entertaining Pit Story recently – check it out here.

Morbus Chron Calling It Quits: “We Have Reached Our Final Crossroads”

After releasing the excellent “Sweven” album last year (reviewed here and also streaming below), Sweden’s Morbus Chron is unfortunately calling it quits. The band comments:

“To all our friends, fans and supporters over the years. Today marks the end of Morbus Chron. However difficult this decision was to make, the four of us are certain that it is the only right thing to do at this point. There are no hard feelings present at all.

“For every passing day it has become more and more obvious that this band is made up of very different people, with different goals and intentions. We have reached our final crossroad and we simply can’t choose the same path anymore.

“We had a fantastic run. The places we have been able to go, both musically and physically, are beyond what we ever hoped for. We are honored to have connected with so many people, and can do nothing but stand in awe when we recall the passion and dedication that you have shown us. These are memories and experiences we will take with us for the rest of our lives.

“Thank you for lending us your ears and sharing this journey with us. Thank you so much.”

Acrania Releases “Treason, Politics & Death” Music Video

“Treason, Politics & Death,” the new video from Mexico’s Acrania, can be seen below. Acrania collaborated with the young filmmaker Armando Salomo and King Bong Entertainment to premier this first video clip. The band also commented:

“The performance portion of the clip was shot on the Film Training Center in Mexico City, with state of the art video equipment and an excellent crew, ‘Treason, Politics & Death’ shows us the power of death metal with quick shots and excellent dynamic lighting, as well as the Latin touch of non-metal instruments such as percussion, trumpet and saxophone, showing the excellent performance of Mexican musicians.

“The song is about the social conflict in Managua, so we used stock images of conflicts in Latin America, interleaved with footage of the band playing to reinforce the overall protest feel of the song.”

The track “Treason, Politics & Death” comes off Acrania’s new album, “An Uncertain Collision,” which was released worldwide on October 20th, 2012. The CD was produced and mixed by J.C. Ch
