For a first preview of Red Before Black, the band has launched a video for the single, “Code of the Slashers”. Zev Deans comments: “After crawling through abandoned buildings, crashing our van into a tree in the middle of a scene, witnessing a real stabbing and drenching ourselves in fake blood in a derelict park at 5am, we can safely say this was a proper introduction to the slasher genre for Panorama Programming. We brought a slab of fresh meat back from a rotting metropolis, and we’re serving it to you raw. Come and get it.”

Many words come to mind when you hear the name Cannibal Corpse, but one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), Red Before Black serves to not only reiterate this but to once more raise the stakes, making it very clear who sets the standard when it comes to always compelling music that is equally brutal and complex. Moreover, the band have pushed themselves again, ensuring that it stands out from their catalog. “Throughout our career we’ve tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. ‘Red Before Black‘ continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It’s definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we’ve done recently,” asserts bassist Alex Webster. “We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums,” adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. “And as Alex said, musically I think it’s the most raw sound we’ve had – and at the same time I think it’s our most focused, tightest and catchiest record.”

EMP Label Group Inks Deal With Chronus

Hailing from Helsingborg, Sweden, Chronus is an exalted quartet formed in 2015 and led by the Baron. Young, fresh and visionary, the band carries the metal torch with astonishing maturity. Delivering a majestic performance filled with striking melodies and hard-hitting riffs, Chronus has been compared to the likes of Mastodon and Gojira. Vocalist/guitarist the Baron, dressed in white, embodies a voice reminiscent of Ozzy Osbourne, complementing the work of his three black-clad associates.

October 28th marks the official European release of Chronus’ self-titled debut album on Ellefson Music Productions, aka EMP Label Group, the label of legendary Megadeth bassist David Ellefson (the North American release is tentatively planned for 2018). After a well-received performance at this year’s Sabaton Open Air, the band are currently preparing for a Scandinavian tour supporting Soilwork and The Unguided.

In order to spread rapture upon the people, Chronus ceremoniously converts its audience in a relentless conquest to take on the World. Join their voyage to the City of Light!

Ram Releasing New Album “Rod”

Swedish heavy metal crew Ram will release striking new album, “Rod,” on November 3rd via Metal Blade Records. Check out a lyric video for the first single “Gulag” below.

Ram comments: “We are very proud to release our fifth studio album entitled ‘Rod.’ On this album for the first time ever we wrote a conceptual story over 6 songs, something that we always wanted to do but never got right. This album contains probably our most epic moments to date but it is still definitely heavy metal tyranny!”

Regarding the first single, Ram adds: “‘Gulag’ has a definite old-school European heavy metal vibe to it. The song shines a light on the hypocrisy of collectivism, and takes a stand for the one who lives and thinks for one self, not for ideology or dogmas of the masses. Ensiferum launches “making of” documentary video for new album, ‘Two Paths’

– September 14th, 2017 –

Tomorrow (September 15th), Ensiferum will release their seventh full-length, Two Paths, worldwide via Metal Blade Records. Produced by Anssi Kippo, the master was recorded on tape, for a true analog experience. In anticipation of this release, the band has now launched a “making of” documentary video for the album, which can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=iaUE85WKTPw. Fans can also watch the video live now at facebook.com/Ensiferum – where a live stream of the forest green-marbled vinyl edition of Two Paths will take place afterwards.

–Limited edition Digibook CD+DVD
–CD
–180g black vinyl

–forest green-marbled vinyl (USA exclusive – limited to 250 copies)
–picture disc LP (limited to 500 copies worldwide)
* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of Ensiferum, and with Two Paths they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is simultaneously the Finnish quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection and their most organic, which definitely sets it apart from the pack. Additionally, the album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Two Paths track-listing
1. Ajattomasta Unesta
2. For Those About to Fight for Metal
3. Way of the Warrior
4. Two Paths
5. King of Storms
6. Feast with Valkyries
7. Don’t You Say

9. God Is Dead
10. Hail to the Victor
11. Unettomaan Aikaan
