The Faceless Cancels European Tour Dates

After the gigantic clusterfuck earlier this very month when The Faceless cancelled an Australian tour last minute, the band has now reportedly cancelled a European tour without (as of this writing) issuing a statement to the fans.

News of the cancellation came via the U.K. Tech Metal Festival when that fest’s organizers issued this announcement via Facebook:

“We regret to inform you that The Faceless cancelled all EU dates this year, we are awaiting an official statement from the band. Apologies to anyone who was hoping to see them, we have done everything within our power to make this dream a reality!

“We would like to thank Artery Global and their agent Liam John Byrne for their professionalism in handling the matter and their support for Tech-Fest, they too have done all they can to make this happen. Chins up, we will reveal the final secret headliner shortly! Thank you all for your continued support, not long until July 6th now.”

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available. We’ll update this story with any statement from the band when its released.

Ufomammut Releases “Warsheep” Music Video

Italian group Ufomammut melds uncompromisingly heavy magic with psychedelic swirls and recently announced news of a new studio recording, “8,” which shall arrive on the 22nd of September via Neurot Recordings.

Prior to the release of the “8” LP, Ufomamut today delivers an early extract from the record in the form of a video for “Warsheep,” which you can view below. Adding to the video’s eerie atmosphere, the setting is in an abandoned villa in Italy, and the surrounding woodland.

The band comments: “It is inspired by the lyrics of the song which in itself is a play on the word ‘worship.’ The protagonist takes a symbolic journey from the natural human condition to the trappings of the dogmas of society, religion etc. The principle idea being that thought is blind and is caged into the illusion of being free.”

Ufomammut has also announced a long list of upcoming European live shows as well, including several major festival performances and an autumn European tour with Usnea. Additional live shows will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Shadow Kingdom Records Signs Horrified For New Album “Allure Of The Fallen”

Today, Shadow Kingdom Records announced the signing of U.K. death metal act Horrified. The first fruit of this union shall be the band’s highly anticipated third album “Allure of the Fallen,” which will be released this fall. The release date, cover art, track listing, and first track premiere to be announced shortly.

A work of towering, melodic death metal majesty, “Allure of the Fallen” is the record by which Horrified continue the ascent and truly stakes a claim as one of the subgenre’s elite – rendering a new modern classic to the canon. Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, Horrified was born in 2012 with humble beginnings. An acolyte worshiping the altar of old-school death metal, founder and creator Dan Alderson would later transform the project into a full band. Like so many of their predecessors, Horrified took a sidestep and evolved into melodic and grandiose territory, adding twin-guitar harmonies and increasing its scope into epic territory without sacrificing the original vision of savage OSDM.

After releasing two full-length albums on various labels, assaulting UK underground audiences with tight, energetic live performances and taking the aural onslaught to European audiences, Horrified took steps up from the underground with wide, positive acclaim for the second full-length album “Of Despair.” But now, with the impending release of third album “Allure of the Fallen,” Horrified has been reborn into something far more vast than ever originally imagined. Comprising six expansive tracks in an epic 46 minutes, “Allure of the Fallen” finds the band in an enviable state of maturity, exuding class and power in equal measure, the ever-winding but never-extraneous compositions truly taking the listener on a journey into what real – and really melodic – death metal can encompass. Thus, Horrified’s signing to Shadow Kingdom for the album’s release is a logical alliance to bolster the band’s ever-growing evolution and constant broadening of vision, scope, and horizons. Patient but never slumbering, Horrified arises from the ashes of a barren landscape, shrouded in majesty, resurrected in ancient art. This is the “Allure of the Fallen”: pay witness to the dawn of majesty.

Damain Herring (Horrendous) commented: “This band just keeps getting better with each album. On ‘Allure of the Fallen,’ they shed much of their ‘Sunlight’ influences sound- and music-wise, and incorporate a lot more black metal and doom. It’s melodic, heavy, and catchy as hell. It brings to mind fond memories when I first discovered bands like Unanimated, Sacramentum, etc, and that’s an awesome thing. This will definitely be a highlight for a lot of folks in 2017!”

Stay tuned for more info.

Details Of New Album “Malina” Issued By Leprous, Tour Dates With Agent Fresco

Norwegian progressive act Leprous is pleased to announce the much-anticipated new fifth studio album “Malina,” which is set to release on the August 25th via InsideOut Music. The album is the follow-up to the acclaimed record “The Congregation.” To coincide with the album’s release, the band will embark on an extensive European tour with special guests, Iceland’s Agent Fresco, plus Australia’s AlithiA and fellow Norwegian act Astrosaur.

Following a hugely successful EU tour as support to label-mates Devin Townsend Project, the band started the recording of the follow-up to 2015’s “The Congregation.” Front-man and keyboard player Einar Solberg comments: “This album is the perfect example of how you can start with a vision and end up with a result that has nothing to do with the original idea. The writing of the album started out with the idea to perfect the sound and working method we began with on ‘The Congregation’. While the writing process was actually pretty similar (30 sketches, elimination process etc etc) we gradually started noticing stuff with the sound and the songwriting on the previous album that we wanted to sound different. Gradually we realized what needed to be done. This album needs to sound more alive, more organic and more dynamic.”

The band entered the studio with David Castillo at Ghostward in Sweden, while mixing duties were once again taken care of by Jens Bogren. “David immediately understood where we wanted to go. We spent probably 4 times as many days in the studio as with any other recording we’ve done, for we’ve come to learn that if you want to sound unique that is primarily done during recordings, not the mix. We wanted it to sound like it sounded. We did not want to ‘digitalize’ the sound.”

With “Malina,” Leprous has made every effort to try new ways of working, and push the boundaries of the sound in ways the band had not originally set out to do. “We feel with ‘Malina’ that we’ve managed to achieve a natural sounding organic album with great songs that still sounds modern. Organic doesn’t necessarily equal ‘retro’. While we still very much sound like Leprous, I believe that with this album we more accurately define as a rock band than a metal band. We’re insanely proud of this album, and can’t wait to share it with you all.” This feeling is reflected in the stunning cover artwork too, which you can see above. Einar continues: “We wanted to try something new this time, and work with a new artist. Some good musician friends of ours recommended Corey Meyers. I checked him out, and damn he’s good. This is the first time we’ve ever received the perfect cover on the first attempt. It represents the album perfectly and looks pretty amazing!”

As mentioned, Leprous will head out on an extensive European tour this Autumn with Agent Fresco as special guests, including an appearance at the UK’s Damnation Festival. The band comments:

“We’re super excited to announce that we’re heading out on a European tour this fall to celebrate the new album. And guess what!? We’re bringing one of our generations greatest with us: the amazing Agent Fresco! In addition to that we’re bringing AlithiA from Australia, as well as Astrosaur – the band featuring our great step-in guitarist from the Devin tour. This is a dream tour for us, to be able to perform in all of these great places for our fantastic fans, listen to amazing music every night and also travel Europe with really good friends!”
