Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper Announces North American Tour Dates

Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper will tour North America starting in New Hampshire on September 27, 2018 and wrap up with a two night stint at The Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.

Dissonance Productions released the long awaited album from Steve Grimmett‘s GRIM REAPER entitled ’Walking In The Shadows‘ almost two years ago. It was the band‘s first new recording since 1987‘s Rock You To Hell.

Grim Reaper‘s story begins in 1979 after successfully fighting off hundreds of bands in a local Battle Of The Bands competition. This win, combined with an already sizeable following, aroused the interest of Ebony Records. Signing with the small UK label, Grim Reaper released three albums in rapid succession to international acclaim. Due to legal turmoil with Ebony, Grim Reaper would disband in 1988. Grimmett would go on to record with Onslaught, Lionsheart, and more recently The Sanity Days debut Evil Beyond Belief. His renowned vocal range remains one of metal‘s most identifiable with loyal fans turning out in numbers to hear him perform.

Since reforming in 2006, Steve Grimmett‘s Grim Reaper has made several European festival appearances including Germany‘s Keep It True, England‘s British Steel, Belgium‘s Heavy Sound, and Sweden‘s Muskelrock as well as touring North and South America.

As widely reported Steve had to have part of his leg amputated in Ecuador while on the bands South American tour in January 2017 after an operation to stem an aggressive infection failed. Since then Steve has got himself back up and out on the road worldwide.

Obituary Drummer Donald Tardy To Miss European Tour, Monstrosity’s Lee Harrison To Fill In

Obituary drummer Donald Tardy, who has been unable to perform at four of the band’s European shows thus far, will not be flying out to complete the trek. A post from Monstrosity/former Malevolent Creation drummer Lee Harrison, who has been filling in for Tardy, reads as follows:

“So tonight will be my 4th show (temporarily) playing drums for the mighty Obituary. Donald had some things going on at home that he needed to be there for. I’m honoured he called me to fill in but it was also pretty stressful having to learn the set in such a short time (3 days notice).

“Wishing Donald all the best and he will be back to his spot after this run so don’t worry. I’m just glad I could be there for him and somewhat pull this off. I’ve got 3 more shows to do and things will be back to normal for me. lol. Tonight we rock Krakow Poland! Come out if you can!!”

Plini Premiere New Video “Salt + Charcoal” – New EP “Sunhead” To Be Released This Month

Plini has a new EP called “Sunhead” scheduled for a July 27th release. Below you can check out a video for the a first song titled “Charcoal And Dust” from it. The track features guest backing vocals and production from Skyharbor‘s Devesh Dayal.

Speaking of how the effort came to be, Plini himself commented:

“I started working on the material almost straight after ‘Handmade Cities‘ was released in 2016, sort of with the goal to make a very big, small EP – aiming to put as much detail and refinement into the composition and playing as possible. Both musically and emotionally, the music is greatly influenced by the amount of touring and travel I’ve done in the past couple of years.

I was particularly inspired by Animals As Leaders (who I toured Europe and North America with in 2016), by the musical adventurousness in their last album, and Disperse (who I toured with in Europe in early 2017) for the way they seamlessly combined contemporary pop and electronic elements with prog-metal – updating a genre that sometimes seems (ironically for the name, “progressive”) entrenched in old musical cliches.

Aside from this, I think the ‘Sunhead‘ EP is a musical expression of the pure excitement that comes with traveling to new places, meeting new people and eating new things.”

August will find Plini out playing the following European/UK shows:

08/10 Karlovy Vary, CZE – Musicians Festival
08/11 Josefov, CZE – Brutal Assault
08/14 Budapest, HUN – A38 Roof
08/15 Krakow, POL – Alchemia
08/16 Warsaw, POL – Hydrozagadka
08/18 Somerset, UK – ArcTanGent Festival
08/19 London, UK – Islington Assembly Hall
08/22 Mosta, MLT – Razzett L’Ahmar
