Mantar Denied Entry Into Norway, Cancels Oslo Show

German duo Mantar has posted a statement online stating that their show in Oslo tonight has been cancelled, after they were turned away the Norwegian border. The statement reads as follows:

“KEEP NORWAY GREAT,
“KEEP MANTAR OUT! Oslo show cancelled!

“Bad news: we got denied at the border due to some weird tax shit we were supposed to pay for all the equipment. We didn’t have the papers they wanted and getting them would have resulted in not making it in time to oslo anyway. We never ever had that problem before when playing Norway. We are beyond bummed and seriously pissed but will make it up to you asap. Tomorrow: GOTHENBURG!”

Mantar released their third album, “The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze” earlier this year through Nuclear Blast Entertainment and are currently on tour in Europe with Skeletonwitch and Deathrite.

Monte Pittman releases two new albums, ‘Better or Worse’ and ‘Between the Space’, today via Metal Blade Records

– August 31st, 2018 –

Set to kick off USA tour with Sebastian Bach next month

There are great guitarists, great vocalists and great songwriters, but Monte Pittman is one of the elite few who can truly lay claim to all three titles – and today, he once again raises the stakes with two new solo albums: Better Or Worse and Between The Space. Monte comments:

“The album ‘Between The Space‘ is a heavy album that gets straight to the point as soon as it starts. The theme is about connection, alignment, and what divides those things. As always when I write, my goal is coming up with the material that fits in my live show. I did everything on these albums. I wrote it all, I played every instrument, I recorded it, and I mixed it. The only thing I didn’t do was the artwork (by Aaron Lea) and mastering (by Alan Douches). It was a challenge having so many tasks. It was a luxury being able to take the time and get everything just how I wanted it. It was a learning experience, and it was a lot of fun making it.

The album ‘Better Or Worse‘ is an acoustic album but it feels like a heavy album. The theme is about being attached to something or being unattached. It could be an idea or a thought process. The softest part of the album has the heaviest lyrics. It builds instrumentally as the album progresses. I wanted the tone of each track to be a little different from each other. ‘Better Or Worse‘ and ‘Between The Space‘ both mirror each other and they are polar opposites. The idea is to have something there for the people who like my heavy music, something for the people who like my acoustic music, and something for the people who like the variety of both.”

For a preview of both albums, please visit: metalblade.com/montepittman – where the singles “Depth Perception” (from Better Or Worse) and “Evidence” (from Between The Space) can be streamed, and the records can be purchased on CD.

“‘Evidence’ is the opening track off ‘Between The Space,’” Monte adds. “This is a great introduction to the album. It has a little bit of everything I’ve done up until now and taken it a few steps further. ‘Depth Perception’ is also the opening track off ‘Better Or Worse‘. I wanted this album, and especially this song in particular, to be acoustic but feel like a heavy album.”

Between The Space track-listing
1. Evidence
2. Ominous / Hope
3. Changing of the Guard
4. Between the Space
5. Once Upon a Time
6. Equal Temperament
7. Reverse Magnetism

Within The Ruins To Part Ways With Frontman Tim Goergen – Replacement Announced

Within The Ruins part ways with vocalist Tim Goergen in the light of his “recent and ongoing health issues.” The split is described as amicable with Steve Tinnon (supposedly formerly of Silence The Messenger, etc.) planned to replace him. Within The Ruins will be playing two final shows with Goergen and issued the below statement on that matter:

“Hey everyone, Joe here with some news for you all. Within the Ruins and Tim have decided to part ways due to some recent and ongoing health issues. This is a tough one for all of us, and as saddened as we are to no longer have Tim with us, a new chapter begins. Tim will be passing the torch to our good friend Steve Tinnon and we are extremely excited for the future of this band. We’d like to invite you all to Tim‘s final two shows with us.

April 19th – Brooklyn, NY at Kingsland
April 21st- Worcester, MA at New England Metal and Hardcore Fest

– Tim
Hello my friends, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I announce my departure from Within The Ruins. I want to be very clear that this split is mutual and I have nothing but love for my brothers and vise versa. I am at a point in my life that won’t allow me to tour anymore, and touring is a huge part of this band. It breaks my heart, but it is what it is. Over the last ten years I have had the absolute privilege/pleasure to tour the world and record 5 amazing releases with the most driven and talented musicians on the fucking planet.

These guys are more than just friends and bandmates, they are my brothers. Through ups and downs, lineup changes, a van flip that nearly killed us, and countless beers/good times we are bonded forever. These experiences, memories, and friends I’ve made along the way are things that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I ask that you all continue to support my guys just as you always have while I was in the band.

Thank you to our manager Scott Lee and Entertainment One / Goodfight for always having our backs and keeping our best interest in mind. Thank you to my friends, family, and my woman for supporting me while I lived out my dream. And of course I would like to thank our fans for their undying support and love. You guys kept me pushing forward the whole time.

I want to be clear that I am not done making music, so keep an eye out for projects from me in the future. I am excited for what lies ahead and am ready for this new chapter in my life.

Let’s get fucking crazy one more time!

– Steve Tinnon
I am very excited to announce that I am now singing for Within The Ruins! These guys have been great friends to me and my previous band for nearly a decade, and after two years of no longer touring or being in a band I’ve been given a second chance to do what I love again. I want to thank Tim for giving me his blessing on this moving forward. I’ve got big shoes to fill and I won’t let you down! I’m extremely honored to be part of a group of such talented musicians, and I can’t wait to start this next chapter of the band’s career. See you all soon!

Amorphis Reveal New Album’s Title, Cover & Release Date

AMORPHIS have finally finished recording their upcoming new studio album, entitled ‘Queen Of Time’. The record is scheduled for a May 18th release, via Nuclear Blast. In comparison to its predecessor, ‘Under The Red Cloud’ (2015), the album will include the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and even choirs! In addition, this will be the first time that people will be able to hear their lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on the album as he contributes a speech in Finnish.

Today, the band unveils some more details on the production, the album title, the album cover (see above) and on working with their new/old bassist Olli-Pekka Laine.

The album was once again produced by the famous Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KREATOR, and many others), who is well-known for challenging, and motivating, the artists during the recording process. He isn’t afraid to push them to their limits!

Esa comments:

“I guess ‘Queen Of Time’ turned out as a massive surprise to all of us. During the rehearsing and pre-production we didn’t have any idea that Jens had this huge picture inside of his head about the landscape of the album. It’s a very natural continuation to ‘Under The Red Cloud’ but with steroids. The songs are more aggressive but there’s more dynamics, harmonies and orchestral arrangements present. The result is AMORPHIS as something you’ve never heard before! Essentially, working with Jens worked really well. As a person he is very similar to us – we share the same kind of weird humor and we all like to work hard.”

The cover artwork, which was created once again by French artist Jean ”Valnoir” Simoulin from Metastazis, captures the feeling of the lyrics and the music. With Pekka Kainulainen’s (lyricist) words, the lyrical theme is universal: “Cultures rise, flourish, and are destroyed. The story of man is the story of searching, finding, and forgetting. A single spark can set the world afire, a single idea can give birth to a new culture. The greatest can stagnate into insignificance, the smallest can hold the power for change. The lyrics on this album are distant echoes of ancient forest peoples, from a time when meaning was proportioned by the cosmic forces that govern birth and death. If the connection was lost, they sought for a strand of knowledge, found a new direction, and a new age began.”

‘Queen Of Time’ will be also the first album with their old/new bass player Olli-Pekka ‘Oppu’ Laine following the departure of Niclas Etelävuori in 2017. Oppu was one of the founding members in 1990 and recorded the first seven records with AMORPHIS (‘The Karelian Isthmus’ LP, 1992; ‘Privilege Of Evil’ EP, 1993; ‘Tales From The Thousand Lakes’ LP, 1994; ‘Black Winter Day’ EP, 1995; ‘Elegy’ LP, 1996; ‘My Kantele’ EP, 1997 and the ‘Tuonela’ LP, 1999) before he parted ways with the band in spring 2000.

“To be honest, ‘Oppu’ was the only guy we could imagine being in AMORPHIS. It was funny – when we started to play our first shows together again last summer it all felt so familiar. He was involved with arranging songs and he also even brought some new songs to the table… really good ones, too!” says Esa. And Oppu adds: “Even though the last year with AMORPHIS has been exciting, nostalgic and fun, it’s also been truly comfortable to be with the guys again. As a clichéd expression, it’s been like returning home from a lengthy odyssey. After eighteen years, it feels like we are picking up where we left off from the good ol’ days! I’m really looking forward for the upcoming tour. The new album itself is a really strong package, the only hard thing will be picking which songs to play live! It’s safe to say we are set to pull off some killer shows over the next few years. After that, I’m predicting a long and fruitful career for the band in its current form…”

The band will soon kick off pre-orders for ‘Queen Of Time’ and release their first single, so stay tuned!
