Soulfly Premiere New Song “Evil Empowered” & Detail Upcoming New Album “Ritual”

Soulfly premiere a new song entitled “Evil Empowered”, taken from their upcoming new album “Ritual”. Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe and Immolation bassist/vocalist Ross Dolan are among the effort’s guests with the track listing and cover art (done by Eliran Kantor) available at the bottom of this post.

Speaking of the “Ritual“, the band’s mastermind, frontman/guitarist Max Cavalera commented:

“I am really stoked to be working again with two of my favorite artists, Eliran Kantor and Marcelo Vasco! The Ritual artwork is very mystic and captures the vibe of the album perfectly. For this one, we really tried to retain the groove of early Soulfly as well as my love for the heavy, fast stuff I’m into: like death and black metal and some hardcore.

Working with Josh Wilbur for Soulfly this time around has been amazing. He’s a huge fan and added a lot to the record. I would fight for the fast songs and he would always push me to add more groove. I think in the end we created a really cool mix of songs that covers a lot of ground in my career. Let the Ritual begin!”

New Track Stream “Gargantua” Streaming From Spheron

While some bands out of the technical death metal sector seem to focus too much on the first aspect of the genre’s name and forget about the songs, there are true exceptions. Spheron combine ambitious death metal with a technical appeal but also with versatile moods within their varied songs. The second full-length “A Clockwork Universe” is an even more expressive proof.

Aside from the composition and technical progression, the band sticks to the team Christoph Brandes (producer: Necrophagist, Deadborn o.a.) and Eliran Kantor (artwork: Testament, Hate Eternal o.a.). Both parts seem really inspired by the quintet as they went all out. The sound creates an omnipresent atmosphere while it remains crystal-clear and the album cover (shown here) carries this vibe to the outside.

Now…you can hear the result with the first track revealed from the band’s first release in three years by streaming “Gargantua” below. The album will be issued by Apostasy Records on February 26th. Pre-orders can be made at this location.

The track list for “A Clockwork Universe” is as follows:

1. Keeper of Time and Space
2. The Blind Watchmaker
3. Plains of Hungary
4. Pendulum
5. Gargantua
6. Building a Storm
7. My Master’s Work
8. Bound in Empty Jars

Fleshgod Apocalypse Reveals New Album “King”

The Italian symphonic death metal masters from Fleshgod Apocalypse have revealed the cover artwork to their upcoming album “King.” This stunning visualization was created by acclaimed contemporary artist Eliran Kantor. “King” follows previous album “Labyrinth” (reviewed here).

Vocalist Tommaso comments: “This work of art is nothing more than the picture of an old world coming to an end. The author, Eliran Kantor, perfectly interpreted the concept behind the album. The King represents the last stand of integrity and justice in a court infested by traitors, villains, perverts, parasites and prostitutes.

“In an era that looks more like the Middle Ages than the 21st Century, we felt the necessity to express our indignation for the constant loss of values and our despise for mediocrity and commercial use of superstitions.

“The question is, are we sure everything that is ‘new’ is right? Are we sure we are not losing the perception of what is the real value of things? Perhaps the essence of that King lies inside everyone of us but it’s just dimmed by the mist of deceit and (ir)rational superfluity. Perhaps we should all hail the King we have inside.”

New album “King” is scheduled for release in early 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was tracked at Kick Recording Studio and 16th Cellar Studio in Rome, and was mixed and mastered by the world-renowned Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.

Winterhorde Reveals “Maestro” Album Details

Winterhorde today unveils the artwork for upcoming third album “Maestro,” which was created by Eliran Kantor and can be seen below.

The band comments: “We are super exited about the final result, as it reflects exactly the mood of the album. Eliran did an excellent work, with the most professional approach to the matter.”

Eastern-European theater/cinema poster-art was a big influence here, as it fits the story’s setting and Winterhorde’s creative twist on extreme metal aesthetics.”

“Maestro” was recorded by Alex Feldman at Sound Studios, Tel Aviv and by V.Santura at Gustavo’s in Ofer, Israel. The mixing duties will be handled by V. Santura in Woodshed Studio, Germany and mastering by Jens Bogren in Fascination Street Studios, Sweden. The “Maestro” track listing is as follows:
