Pillorian Reveals “Obsidian Arc” Album Details

Pillorian was formed in early summer 2016 by Stephen Parker (Maestus, ex-Arkhum), John Haughm (ex-Agalloch), and Trevor Matthews (Uada, ex-Infernus) with the goal to create a unique, sinister, and twisted style of dark/black metal.

Fusing haunting melodies with avantgarde structures, dark folk elements and blackened walls of furious sound; the music of Pillorian is the perfect aural definition of its namesake (of, or relating to, scorn and condemnation).

“Obsidian Arc” was recorded at Witch Ape/Skyway Audio and Sprout City Studios by Tad Doyle and Stephen Parker and it was mixed and mastered at Klangschmiede Studio E by Markus Stock.

In support of this debut album, the official advance album single with exclusive b-side is set to be released February 10th , as 7″ vinyl & digital. Pillorian will be touring across Europe to promote the album in April 2017. Their road map includes confirmed appearances at Inferno Festival (Norway), Roadburn (Netherlands), SWR Metalfest (Portugal) and Dark Easter Metal Meeting (Germany) among others.

1. By the Light of a Black Sun
2. Archaen Divinity
3. The Vestige of Thorns
4. Forged Iron Crucible
5. A Stygian Pyre
6. The Sentient Arcanum
7. Dark is the River of Man

Goatess Streams “Purgatory Under New Management” Title Track

Just in time for Easter, purgatory is now under new management! Goatess will release “Purgatory Under New Management” this coming April 15th, 2016 via Svart Records, and today another track from the album comes online. Check out the title track below.

“After all those shows, things kinda stagnated for a bit,” admits vocalist and former Saint Vitus / Count Raven frontman Chritus Linderson, “to the point we ached to do something, so we decided to go into the studio again. This album is the result of that frustration and hardship during that limbo meantime.”

Last year, Goatess parted ways with former four-stringer Findus. For a while, Izmo Hedlund (former Terra Firma drummer and currently in Atlantic Tide) replaced him, “but sadly, he had other obligations at an early stage and was prevented to commit further,” the band states. Recently, although he lives in southern Sweden whereas the rest of the band is in Stockholm, Goatess hired Peter Wallberg from Void Moon and Assassin’s Blade as a new permanent bass player.

The new album’s track listing is as follows:

1. Moth to Flame
2. Purgatory Under New Management
3. Murphy Was an Optimist
4. Crocodilians and Other Creepy Crawling Shhh…
5. Shadowland
6. Silent War
7. Wrath of God
8. Good Moaning

Tourniquet Issues Update On Band’s Future And New Album

After the band parted ways with vocalist Luke Easter, Ted Kirkpatrick from Tourniquet has issued the following statement to fans:

“Hey everyone. Just a quick update on the present and future of Tourniquet. First, Tourniquet is not going away. I have more than a lifetime of music to give, and God willing, I plan to share it with whoever would like to hear it, just as I always have – under the name Tourniquet.

“The classical influence, the medical terminology, the allegories to nature, the beautiful and the ugly sounds, the fast and the slow, the ordinary and the unexpected, the triumphs and challenges to faith and hope – all these things you the fans have indicated you like about our music – will continue – and continue in new ways.

“The new material is very heavy (and sometimes beautiful), and full of melody and twists. Vocals will be with a new singer – not a collection of vocalists (although I love doing that, as you know by now – wait ‘til you hear the guys on the Sabbath tunes!)

“So – thank you all for hanging in there – onward to 2016 and beyond – and a very Happy New Year to you all!”
