Death Angel Reveals New Album “Humanicide” Details; Posts Title Track Online

Bay Area thrash metal legends Deatj Angel will release their long-awaited 9th full-length album, “Humanicide,” on May 31st via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has unveiled the artwork, tracklisting and the record’s first new single, the title track, via visualiser. Death Angel will be celebrating the record’s release by undertaking a European tour later this year, which includes a UK performance at Bloodstock Festival on August 9th.

With their forthcoming album Humanicide, Death Angel has maintained their throne in the universe of thrash while still managing to remain progressive in their style. They apply a wide variety of different elements to their music, always pushing to add newness to their sound. This time around they’ve included everything from acoustic bits, to guest musicians, to even (for the first time) the notes of a piano. All ten songs flow seamlessly yet each leaves its own distinct impression. The first single and title track “Humanicide” triumphantly represents the entirety of the album, immediately energising the listener. Mark Osegueda remarks: “I wanted to write something that metal fans could really grasp onto. Something dark and intense, that still makes sense. Right now I think it’s so apparent that the earth is in a sickened state.”

“When I wrote the music for our song ‘Humanicide’ I was shooting for an album opener that would have all the elements of an epic thrash opus. This meant a classic metal style intro leading into a ferocious “Bay Area Thrash Riff-o-Rama” – complete with a crazy middle build up section to ramp up the circle pit until it’s all whipped up into a frenzy by the time the frenetic guitar solo hits, then concluding with a maniacal musical section leading into the outro. All it needed was the lyrics and vocal delivery to match the intensity and Mark went above and beyond the call of duty! Some of his best work in my opinion. One of my favorite DA songs for sure, it feels like the follow up to our song ‘Thrown to the Wolves’. Can’t wait to play it live!” – Rob Cavestany.

For the 4th album cycle in a row, Death Angel returned to their producer and friend Jason Suecof (Deicide, Trivium) of Audiohammer studios for the recording and mixing, along with the mastering of the legendary Ted Jensen (Slipknot, Pantera) of Sterling Sound who added the final touches and brought it all to life, with artist Brent Elliott White (Lamb Of God, Megadeth) providing the ominous cover artwork.

“I’m ecstatic to present Death Angel’s 9th studio album, ‘Humanicide.’ This collection of songs represents the band in its current state – united, vital, intense and (still) hungry like the wolf! I wanted this record to be quite diverse stylistically while obviously keeping with the parameters of metal. DA has been known to push the envelope and we absolutely did this time. So many emotions are expressed through our music, I’m very much looking forward to adding these songs into our live set list. As I savor this rare feeling of satisfaction, we proudly unleash this beast upon thee!” – Rob Cavestany.

Good Tiger to release “Redux” EP; new video for “Float On” streaming now

– February 11th, 2019 –

Good Tiger will be releasing a remix EP entitled “Redux” to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of “We Will All Be Gone.” The EP features remixes from the band, as well as from some of their friends.

Guitarist Dez Nagle explains: Guitarist Dez Nagle explains: “Track one was done by the band and set off the idea of doing the EP. Thankfully, we know a number of extremely talented musicians who could be involved on the EP. There are remixes by Periphery guitarist and electronic artist in his own right, Jake Bowen, L.A producer Ahh-Ceh, and NYC based post-rock electronic group, Infinity Shred. We felt a simplified acoustic arrangement of “Salt” would be a great way to wrap everything up.

It was extremely fun revisiting these tracks and seeing how other artists we admire approach reimagining the original compositions we had made on WWABG.

Redux” track listing:
1. Such a Kind Stranger (Redux)
2. Float On (Jake Bowen Remix)
3. Blueshift (Ahh-Ceh Remix)
4. Grip Shoes (Infinity Shred Remix)
5. Salt of the Earth (Acoustic)

The remix of “Such A Kind Stranger” will be launched on all digital music services on March 7th. The EP will become available to stream in full on March 22nd. Additionally, a new video for “Float On”, shot and edited by WAFKA (wyattclough.com), is now streaming at: blacklightmediarecords.com/goodtiger

Witherfall To Release New EP “Vintage” In March

In November 2018, US dark melodic metal act Witherfall released their second studio album, A Prelude To Sorrow. Never resting on its laurels, the group led by the creative duo comprised of vocalist Joseph Michael (Sanctuary) and Jake Dreyer (Iced Earth) now announces the Vintage EP, with the CD, LP, and digital release to be available during the upcoming acoustic tour with Sonata Arctica and released via Century Media Records on March 22nd.

Witherfall reveals: “During the sessions for A Prelude To Sorrow, two cover songs were recorded that showed a different side of Witherfall, originally intended to be bonus tracks. A dark and somber version of Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ with vocals recorded with Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row) and an epic version of the Helloween classic ‘A Tale That Wasn’t Right’. With the announcement of the Sonata Arctica Acoustic Adventures tour, it was decided to release these covers along with a few acoustic renditions of favorite Witherfall tracks.

“Along with new keyboardist Alex Nasla and session percussionist James “Timbali” Cornwell (Smokey Robinson, Earth Wind & Fire ), Joseph Michael, Jake Dreyer and Anthony Crawford retreated to Harmony Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA (Adele, Miley Cyrus) armed with acoustic guitars and bottles of wine to start working on acoustic arrangements for the tour. The sessions were fruitful and two acoustic versions of past Witherfall songs were recorded: a medley of ‘Vintage’ and ‘Nobody Sleeps Here…’ (originally on “Nocturnes and Requiems”) and an alternate arrangement of ‘Ode to Despair’. Instead of keeping these as secrets and finally making the rare ‘The Long Walk Home (December)’ also available to an audience outside of Japan, the Vintage EP offers a collection of music that shows another dimension of the Witherfall sound.”

Mixed and mastered by Christopher “Zeuss” Harris and again featuring artwork by Kristian Wåhlin, Vintage will be released as strictly limited, hand-numbered CD digipak, on black and limited coloured vinyl as well as on all digital platforms.

Tracklisting:

1. Vintage Medley: “Vintage I”, “Nobody Sleeps Here…”, “Vintage II”
2. A Tale That Wasn’t Right (Helloween cover)
3. Ode To Despair (acoustic)
4. The Long Walk Home (December)
5. I Won’t Back Down (Tom Petty cover)
6. Vintage (album version)

The Three Tremors Release New Single “Invaders Of The Sky”

The Three Tremors, the new project featuring vocalists Tim “Ripper” Owens (Spirits Of Fire/ex Judas Priest/ex Iced Earth,) Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin (of Jag Panzer and Satan’s Force fame) and Sean “The Hell Destroyer” Peck, known for his work with Cage and Dealer, has posted a new single and lyric video online for the song, “Invaders Of The Sky.” You can check it out below. The song comes from the band’s eponymous debut album, which will be released on January 18th through Steel Cartel Records.

Ripper: “There is a lot going on in this song. This is 3 singers brining it old school with power and highs! To tell you the truth this is what you are going to get on the whole CD!”

Harry: “I would have to say this is one of the more thrashy tracks on album. It has a real chaotic feel too it which I love. I think we are opening the live set with this one too, it’s going to be crazy doing this one live.”

Sean: “Trying to pick which songs to do videos for was almost impossible. All 12 songs on this record are so strong that I have a new favorite each time I listen to it. We decided to pick Invaders From The Sky for one of our videos because the whole imagery of an alien invasion we thought would look killer underneath the ferocity of the music. Hats off to the guys at GHD who did an incredible job putting it together and making it look just how we wanted it. When the album hits in a couple of months everyone will sympathize with how hard it was to single out just which songs to do videos for. Everyone has a different favorite!”
