Grim Ordeal Launches IndieGogo Campaign For New Album

Grim Ordeal just launched a crowd funding campaign through IndieGogo here and the band issued this statement about raising funds to record a new album:

“This is it folks! We are Grim Ordeal and we provide you with a ‘straight in your face!’ mix of Thrash metal, groove metal, and some more contemporary and even progressive elements. Featuring technical guitar work, gruff vocals and tempo fluctuations, Grim Ordeal has created a very unique yet recognizable sound.

“We are based in the Dutch city of Deventer and have been active for a decade now. We have released a 3 song demo back in 2011 (available to stream on Spotify) and a very well received first full release back in 2014 called ‘A Tragedy Unfolds.’

“We are asking you to contribute to our new album release so we can do it right. Our new material is more intricate and layered and needs expert sound engineering. We bring you songs you’ll be listening to for decades to come and we’re sure we have what it takes right here, ready to be recorded and unleashed upon the world!

“You, our fans and contributors, can help us realize a new and bold step in a direction that is likely to lead to bigger gigs, better venues, exciting collaborations and new markets.

“What YOU are supporting: we are actually still in the writing process, but have begun the recording of some of our new awesome songs. With 6 songs already to be heard on our current and upcoming live shows. And I bet you want to HEAR one of our new songs! Here’s a playthrough for ‘Disillusion of War!'”

The band comments: “This hit song by the Dutch duo Bolland & Bolland was released already in 1982, and was also recorded by the British rock band Status Quo in 1986 and became a smash hit once again with high scores on many charts worldwide. During the years many other bands have also recorded their versions of this great song. We recorded it as a bonus track for the “Carolus Rex” album back in 2012.”

Desertfest Adds Arabrot, Alkderdeel, And Komatsu To 2016 Lineup

The organizers of the Desertfest Belgium festival have checked in with this announcement about adding more bands to this year’s lineup:

“You might have thought we had nothing more in store after the three double whammy of Red Fang, Goat, and Graveyard, but Desertfest always has a few tricks left up the sleeve.

“So with this last announcement we fill in the holes in the Desertfest program – which is not to say these bands are filler! With Arabrot and Alkerdeel, we present you with some of the most exciting and original metal to be crafted in Europe. Arabrot has most definitively made their mark on the heavy music scene, and make sure to check Alkerdeel live, as they are one of the most exciting Belgian bands you’ll hear.

“Finally, the last name to make the DF Antwerp 2016 bill is the Dutch powerhouse Komatsu. Straight up stoner metal for sure – but if Desertfest is not the place for that, we don’t know what is!

“And that’s a wrap. Now all you have to do is sit back and relax… no strike that: check if you have your ticket booked, travel arrangements made… and THEN sit back, relax and count the days until DESERTFEST ANTWERP 2016!”
