Primordial Posts New Song, “Stolen Years” Online, Reveals “Exile Amongst The Ruins” Release Date

Irish metal veterans Primordial has announced that their new album, “Exile Amongst The Ruins” will be released through Metal Blade on March 30th and also revealed the tracklisting, which can be viewed below. The group has also premiered the first single from the album, “Stolen Years,” for which a music video can also be viewed below.

Commenting about the album’s first single, “Stolen Years,” A.A. Nemtheanga added: “’Stolen Years’ may seem like a strange choice as our lead single, and on the face of if I guess it is. It’s not a blood and thunder epic about tragedy and might and the ruin of nations, nor is it 9 minute epistle of doom. Have no fear, the album does contain those also but to open this time we chose something different. This album has some surprises and this is one of them, a short and painfully simple song which almost didn’t make the final cut if you can believe so. The video, cut by Costin Chioreanu, is about the journey involved in finally getting to that moment where you walk on stage, the song itself about that last night on earth that comes to us all, sometimes we never know when that might be, hold your loved ones tight tonight, this could be it…”

Teaming with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on Primordial’s 2016 live album Gods To The Godless and has also overseen releases from the likes of Dead Lord, Tribulation and Nemtheanga’s Dread Sovereign, the record was tracked at Dublin’s Camelot Studios, located adjacent to their rehearsal room. While this proved very convenient for all concerned, the recording process was anything but easy. “Sessions were good and productive to start, but as we were thinking on our feet for some songs and getting to hear things for the first time, we had to reassess at times, and this caused a bit of tension,” says MacUiliam. “Also, we had gaps between recording sessions, so an idea which was good in week one didn’t always sound so good in hindsight, and sometimes one person’s vision did not match another’s, and quarrels would ensue.” Nemtheanga notes that the environment in which they tracked Where Greater Men Have Fallen was comfortable for them – based in an old farmhouse in the Irish countryside with time and space from each other, and having a big, open live room available to them.

With the circumstances they found themselves in tracking “Exile Amongst The Ruins” almost the polar opposite, the vocalist feels that “I had to pay for the last one with the stress and darkness surrounding this one. It was fucking hard, cold, nothing worked like it should and it was more or less a total endurance test filled with conflict and discomfort.” However, he is quick to note, wryly, that while this adds up to a miserable experience, the results are unequivocally Primordial, and the record ultimately benefited from the trials faced. “It all adds to making the music what it is – and if it was easy, we’d be a power metal band, right? Strife is life.”

“Exile Amongst The Ruins” tracklisting:

1. Nail Their Tongues
2. Hell Or The Hangman
3. Where Lie The Gods
4. Exile Amongst The Ruins
5. Upon Our Spiritual Deathbed
6. Stolen Years
7. Sunken Lungs
8. Last Call

Bloodshot Dawn UK/Ireland Tour Announced – To Release “Reanimation” January 2018

Earlier this year Bloodshot Dawn had entered the studio to begin work on their third full length album, entitled Renanimation; an album that also features prominent guests including Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore), Paul Wardingham, Ken Sorceron (Abigail Williams, The Faceless), Mendel Bij De Leij (Aborted).

Since their acclaimed self-titled and second album Demons, there has been shifts in the bands ranks making way for new members, Canadian shredder Morgan Reid, drummer James Stewart (also of Vader and Divine Chaos) and bass player Giacomo Gastaldi. Frontman and last founding member Josh McMorran reflects on the losing all members from the Demons line up as a huge shock to the system, “I had to take sometime to think about how to move forward with the bands sound and honestly thinking wasn’t what was needed. When Morgan joined the band he worked tirelessly on riffs and ideas for songs which I sculptured into my design and feel for how I thought the album should flow. We met up over a two week period and turned hundreds of ideas into ten tracks very naturally. The general feeling is that we now for the first time have a solid direction and process, we work as a unit instead of separate solo efforts within the band.”

“We recorded guitars and drums in the east of Germany and Czech simply because that’s where Morgan and James are based. The studio in Czech, Babylon Studios, had an incredible drum room which was a huge selling point to this studio. We recorded guitars at Morgans home studio, which follows a similar process to our previous records. After that we headed for Sweden to work with Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry) for final guitar pieces, additional layers, mixing and mastering. Per is a good friend and an extraordinary musician and his ear and eye for the big picture has helped us create Reanimation and pushed us to evolve our sound in a very natural way.”

“As for the stories within the album, a lot of it is ambiguous, regarding personal struggles, as well as observations on modern day society. But as with all Bloodshot Dawn records the lyrics aren’t always as clear cut and it’s the sci-fi artwork that really tells the cover story so to speak. We worked with a good friend Chris Kewli who is a concept artist with an incredibly creative mind. The artwork is the third part of a trilogy of art continuing and finishing the concept that started with the first two Bloodshot Dawn albums. The front cover pictures an alien approaching a war torn earth who’s coming to clean up the planet of human life and refresh the earth back to its former glory! The art unfolds further through the inlays of the CD.”

As well as the news of an imminent new release the band will be on tour throughout UK/Ireland tour, their first in almost 2 years!

New Video Clip “God Of Delusion” Released By Overoth

Late last month Irish death dealers Overoth released the second full length album “The Forgotten Tome” via Hostile Media. Today, the band released the video clip for the song “God of Delusion,” which comes via Overdrive at this location, or simply in the player at the bottom.

Filmed by Adam Edgerley and edited by Chris Bevan, “God Of Delusion” was filmed in a dying wood in County Down, Northern Ireland. “It was a real nightmare of a location to get to,” states the band. “The wood itself was quite dense, so there was no chance we’d get our vehicles close to the location we had scouted, so with nothing but manpower we had to lug all our gear, generators, lights, camera gear, up and over hills, over streams and dead tress… they were everywhere… and it was a little sketchy at times, because we were surrounded by these massive trees, that with not much force would and were falling over. Needless to say, we all got out alive.”

Check out “God of Delusion” here:
