Myrath Reveals New Album Details; Posts New Music Video “Dance” Online

Myrath have slowly but surely established themselves as one of the most fascinating bands in the current international metal scene — thanks to their incredibly personal, epic, and beautiful progressive metal and their compelling background.

The band will release the new album Shehili via earMUSIC on May 3rd.

Formed in 2001 in the Republic of Tunisia, a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa, Myrath began carving out their own unique niche in the metal world by combining progressive metal with folkloric Tunisian music. They have drawn inspiration from genre champions such as Dream Theater and Symphony X, as well as the sounds of classic European metal legends like Deep Purple and Rainbow.

Myrath’s heritage and willingness to infuse their influences with the historic music of their homeland is what sets them apart. The sounds of Tunisia are that of Arabic and Asian folk music, which can be readily heard in the rhythms, segues, and choruses of Myrath’s compositions.

Their last album Legacy (2016) received international acclaim and contained the brilliant and, until now, their most successful song, “Believer.” The video racked up more than 10 million views on YouTube.

Shehili is innovative, yet loyal to the band’s signature sound. It establishes contrasts between uplifting melodies and thoughtful, and, at times, heartbreaking lyrics. The best example of this duality can be found in Shehili’s first single “Dance,” the video of which was a sequel to “Believer.” The “Dance” video tallied more than a million views in the first five weeks of release.

As singer Zaher Zorgati says, “The purpose of our music is to induce happiness and joy, to pay tribute to those who refuse to fall or to stop hoping, even in a world filled with hatred and uncertainty.”

Shehili, although produced with extreme care, keeps a very natural and organic flavor. The recordings took place in Hamburg, Germany, Tunisia, and France to make sure every single note found its way into the mix. Shehili was mixed by three different producers, including Kevin Codfert, Eike Freese, and the world-famous Jens Bogren (who already worked on Legacy), in order to give each song the best possible treatment and make it shine.

Myrath plan to embark on their own headline tour at the end of the year. Upcoming performances are slated for huge festivals such as Wacken and Sweden Rock.

1. Asl (Intro)

5. Wicked Dice
6. Monster In My Closet
7. Lili Twil

There is a palpable excitement level surrounding two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans, Dream Theater, and their upcoming 14th studio album, Distance Over Time, out on February 22nd via InsideOut Music.

In the new video below, John Petrucci and Mike Mangini discuss the album track, “Paralyzed”:

“Paralyzed” is quintessential Dream Theater; a song that showcases the band’s unique ability to write memorable melodies backed with unique song structures and maestro-level musicianship all at a radio-friendly running time of 4:18. The song will be impacting Active Rock and Metal radio later this month. Wayne Joyner, who also imagined the clip for “Fall Into The Light,” created the animated video for the song, which can be seen below.

“The song is an introspective reflection on the negative impact that being obstinate or single-minded can have on important relationships,” explains guitarist John Petrucci.

Dream Theater Singer James LaBrie Guests On Last Union Single “President Evil”; Video Posted Online

Italian progressive metal band, Last Union, featuring Mike LePond (Symphony X) on bass, Uli Kusch (ex-Helloween, ex-Masterplan) on drums, and as guest James LaBrie (Dream Theater) on vocals, have released a new music video and single for “President Evil”. The track is taken from their debut album, “Twelve,” out on December 21st via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records. Watch the clip below.

The album was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, best known for his work with Arch Enemy, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Angra, and Opeth, to name a few. The album artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard (Avantasia, Rage, Threshold).

The quiet city of Tolentino in the Marche region of Central Italy not only boasts a rich historical background, it is also the place progressive metal band Last Union calls home. Founded by vocalist Elisa Scarpeccio, guitarist Cristiano Tiberi and keyboardist Claudio Feliziani in 2007, the band – originally known as Blazing Ice – embarked on their journey in the pursuit of sharing their thoughts and feelings about life, and ultimately their art, with the world. With the assistance of professional session bassists and drummers, the trio established themselves on the Italian scene with a string of shows that helped them evolve and refine their craft. Over the course of 20 shows, Last Union presented songs that would eventually make the final cut for their debut album.

Strong and positive reactions to their music spurred Scarpeccio and Tiberi on to take the first of many bold steps. The first was to invite drummer Uli Kusch to join the fold, who expressed interest in joining the band as a full member rather than just a touring drummer after hearing the music. A similar scenario played out with Symphony X bassist Mike LePond and Last Union was officially born. The icing on the cake, however, was getting Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie to sing on three tracks.

Tracklisting:

1. Most Beautiful Day
2. President Evil (Feat. James LaBrie)
3. Hardest Way
4. Purple Angels
5. The Best Of Magic
6. Taken (Feat. James LaBrie) – Radio Edit
7. 18 Euphoria
8. A Place In Heaven (Feat. James LaBrie)
9. Ghostwriter
10. Limousine
11. Back In The Shadow
12. Taken (Feat. James LaBrie)
13. President Evil (Feat. James LaBrie) – Video Version
