New Song “Rat” Available From Gnaw

As Translation Loss Records prepares “Cutting Pieces,” the third LP by New York City-based Gnaw for release at the end of the month, No Clean Singing has undertaken the task of issuing the album’s lead track, “Rat” which you can check out over here, or simply by staying here and clicking the player below.

Gnaw was created by vocalist Alan Dubin following the dissolution of Khanate. Closing a four-year gap since the acclaimed second album, “Horrible Chamber,” Gnaw’s “Cutting Pieces” dredges forth some of the outfit’s most unnerving audio assaults yet. The seismic atrocities and haunting intricacies on “Cutting Pieces” leaves an instantly damaging, long-lasting impression, their cumulative decimation producing some of the outfit’s most cinematic terror to date.

Gnaw commented on the new single, “‘Rat’ was conceived in individual heliocentric hallucinations as we each submerged ourselves in separate self-deprecation chambers. We feel it is a perfect album lead-off song. It’s visual. It feels like an entrance to a dark recess.”

Translation Loss will release “Cutting Pieces” on LP, CD, and digital formats on October 27th; find pre-orders over at this location.

All Hell Releases “Laid To Unrest” Music Video

The “Grave Alchemist” full-length, a horror concept album that weaves a tale of alchemy, necromancy, and vampirism over the span of three centuries, is due to drop via Prosthetic Records April 14th. As a precursor to its release, today All Hell’s “Laid To Unrest” is unveiled in the form of a video – check it out below.

“As ‘The Grave Alchemist’ is essentially an album in two parts, we felt that Side A (Side Solve) needed to end with what felt like an album closer, thus the nature of ‘Laid To Unrest,'” elaborates vocalist/guitarist Jacob Curwen.

He goes on to say, “Conceptually, this song represents the dissolution of the Alchemist; a temporary state of death analogous to the dark night of the soul, linked to the alchemical processes of Putrefactio and Fermentatio. The Alchemist is struck down for his crimes and buried alive as he utters the Words of his Return. The video takes cues from German Expressionists, particularly Wiene and Murnau, whose silent works, infused with dark and powerful symbolism, have now haunted viewers for nearly a century.”

All Hell will further bring odes of odium to the stage for a short run of live dates this spring, with additional live incursions in the plotting stages.

Agalloch Members Form New Band Khôrada

Emerging from the dissolution of Agalloch and Giant Squid, a new group is born: Khôrada. Featuring former Agalloch members Don Anderson (guitar), Jason Walton (bass) and Aesop Dekker (drums) alongside ex-Giant Squid guitarist / vocalist Aaron John Gregory, Khôrada exists to create expansive, epic and passionate music.

The quartet announced that it has signed with independent label Prophecy Productions and is currently writing and demoing material for an as-yet-untitled debut album.

“Khôrada members Don Anderson and Jason Walton have been fans of Prophecy Productions since their inception in 1996,” comments the band. “We have always admired and respected their commitment to quality packaging and uncovering the most cutting-edge artists in the scene. We are honored and humbled to be a part of their family.”

Immediately following the breakup of Agalloch in May of 2016, Walton, Anderson and Dekker remained committed to writing and playing together and unanimously agreed on working with Aaron John Gregory from the recently disbanded Giant Squid. Musically, Khôrada (an ancient Greek term for an empty space, or place of reflection) is dedicated to heavy, brooding, and deeply emotional songs.

Lyrically, Gregory will write about the anxieties and fears of raising his daughters in a world that is both environmentally and politically in turmoil; where animal life and human life continue to be treated like property and assets to be exploited; the grind of living in an ever-competitive world with an ever-growing and unsustainable population and the fierce determination of nature to violently reset these terrifying imbalances.
