Islander Releases “Casket” Music Video

Islander just premiered “Casket,” the fifth and final video from latest album, “Power Under,” which can be seen in the YouTube clip below.

“We actually shot this video on NASA’s property in Florida,” states vocalist Mikey Carvajal. “We were riding to a show with the director, Nathan Mowery, and saw a spot that looked good to dig some graves down a gravel road. Once a NASA helicopter started hovering right above us, it was pretty apparent that we probably should have picked another spot. Thankfully, we were already done shooting. Also, we didn’t find any aliens, sadly.”

On the track, he continues, “Lyrically, when I was writing ‘Casket,’ I felt like I took a page out of the Johnny Cash playbook. I think the song speaks for itself, it’s a jammer.”

Iron Maiden Adds “Book Of Souls” Arena To Mobile Game

Iron Maiden embarks on the final leg of “The Book of Souls” world tour this weekend, simultaneously launching a synergistic player-vs-player battle arena for the band’s mobile game, “Legacy of the Beast” (reivewed here).

The game offers players a unique way to interact with Iron Maiden’s real world activities by introducing not only a replica of one of the tour stage productions, but also the debut of “The Book of Souls” version of Shaman Eddie into the game, in his Mayan themed incarnation as featured on the band’s most recent studio album. Other characters from “The Book of Souls” are set to follow.

“Legacy of the Beast” is a definitive experience in the mobile RPG space – taking players on an unparalleled, epic, ever-expanding, strategic gaming journey via their smartphones & tablets. Iron Maiden Manager Rod Smallwood says:

“With ‘Legacy of the Beast’ we wanted to create something that appealed both to fans of Maiden music and gamers alike, wherever they are in the world, and I think we are well on our way to accomplishing that. The game has kept true to the band’s history and development not only through their music but with Eddie too. This latest feature focused around our current tour is only the start of many new and exciting innovations we have planned to keep Legacy evolving and becoming even more addictive!”

Adds Llexi Leon, Interactive Creative Director of Phantom Music Management “The towering Mayan set piece of ‘The Book of Souls’ world tour presented an ideal opportunity to expand the game and create a virtual event space to complement the band’s live show – whether you’re seeing Iron Maiden on the road or playing Legacy of the Beast on your mobile, we’ve crafted a gaming experience that explores the Mayan world of The Book of Souls record and marks the first of many timed in-game events that will enrich the band’s touring activity, engaging fans old and new across the globe in a way never before possible.”

New Jersey thrash metal band Overkill has unveiled a new video for the track “Goddamn Trouble,” which comes from the band’s 18th studio album, “The Grinding Wheel,” due out on February 10th, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Bobby Blitz states: “We hooked up again with Kevin Custer, the director behind the videos, ‘Armorist,’ ‘Bitter Pill,’ ‘Rattlesnake,’ and ‘Bring Me The Night.’ It was an ‘all-day’ event in the great state of New Jersey and Kevin shot two vids for us on that cold January day, ‘Goddamn Trouble’ & ‘Shine On’. A long day but well worth it as he captured the metal-chaos and energy. So hit Play and get some Trouble.”

Gemini Syndrome Posts “Remember We Die” Music Video

Gemini Syndrome just released a new music video for “Remember We Die,” directed by Bryan Cox and available in the YouTube clip below.

Commented the director: “Working with Gemini Syndrome has been something I’ve wanted to do since the band debuted in 2010. The second I heard “Remember We Die” I knew I had to make a video for this song. All of the pieces fell into place and it was incredibly gratifying to see everyone so blown away when previewing the video. I hope all the fans enjoy watching this video as much as we enjoyed producing it.”

Added Gemini Syndrome drummer Brian Medina: “‘Remember We Die’ revisits the theme of duality. The main character is dying in a hospital bed. As the doctors struggle to save her, she crosses the veil to save each of their lives from their own destructive pasts. ‘Remember We Die’ reminds us that our existence is precious. Every moment we are alive is a gift and an opportunity to contribute to the stream of life.”

New album “Memento Mori” will be out in stores August 19th via Another Century Records and features the following track listing:

1. Anonymous
2. Remember We Die
3. Zealot

Exumer premieres new video for “Catatonic”

– March 21st, 2016 –

German thrashers Exumer have released “Catatonic” as the first video from their latest album The Raging Tides. The clip was filmed and directed by David Thelen during Exumer‘s European tour in January/February and captures the dark lyrical themes of the song, portraying the psychological manifestations of physical torture and abuse.

Vocalist Mem V. Stein explains: “We were compelled to use this track as our first clip from the new album because the song sums up the overall concept behind the record very well. ‘Catatonic’ is also different as it is a mid-tempo cut, but yet just as hard-hitting as any of our fast songs – or even harder in a sense. We were able to create a visually daring piece with the help of our director and his crew, while exploring new techniques for us, working with an actor on the set for the first time.”

Head over to metalblade.com/exumer to watch “Catatonic” and to purchase Exumer‘s new album, The Raging Tides, in various formats.

Heavy Metal Black Friday 2015 Deals Revealed

It’s almost Black Friday again (which for many stores has essentially just become “Black Month” as the sales start earlier and employees are expected to work all Thanksgiving) and you might not think that matters to metalheads, but many of the labels actually jump on that bandwagon.

Best of all – you don’t have to go to a store at four in the morning to get these deals.

The holiday / Thanksgiving / Christmas sales are already ramping up through the various online distros, so if you’re looking for new music on a budget, these heavy metal Black Friday deals will help you find new tunes.

This is just the start though, so check back in each day as we add in more deals. Specifically look for Amazon to launch something big soon, as that online juggernaut usually does $5 albums that rotate out each day. If you know of any metal sales that aren’t listed below, be sure to leave a comment and we’ll get it added.

The Omega Order is offering 25% off a large selection of death metal, gore grind, and grindcore discs this week.

Comatose Music has an ongoing sale where you get a free CD of $10 or less if you buy three CDs totaling $30 – the deal stacks too, so you can get two free CDs at $60 and three free CDs at $90.

Sevared Records has a sale going all week in celebration of Black Friday where orders are 20% off with coupon code “BLACKFRIDAY.” Your order will also include a free 21 track compilation.

The Earache Christmas sale has already begun and features big discounts on CDs, vinyl, t-shirts, and band patches covering a wide range of bands from At The Gates to Woods Of Ypres.

Rather than offering a discount on the music itself, Divebomb Records is discounting the shipping, offering 1 cent shipping and handling if you buy any combination of at least six CDs.

For you Rob Zombie fanatics, the director/musician is offering 20% off anything on his online store with the coupon code “EARLY20.”

Starting Wednesday, November 25 at 9PM, all items (excluding pre-orders) at the Relapse web store are 25% off until Sunday, Nov 29 at 11:59pm EST.
