Silent Planet Premieres New Music Video For “Depths II” From New Album “The Night God Slept”

Silent Planet premieres a new music video for “Depths II”, a track taken from the band’s latest album “The Night God Slept”, out in stores via Solid State.

Check out now “Depths II” below.

Explains frontman Garrett Russell:

“It was written after I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.

The album is composed of narratives of women protagonists throughout history. After my diagnosis, I had this sort of epiphany that paralleled the journey of the characters with my own. It’s my own personal struggle of finding peace within myself and coming to terms with evil and the existence of God.”

Emmure Front Man Issues Update On Vocal Chord Issues

After Emmure’s Frankie Palmeri announced he had torn his vocal chords and would be missing one show, he has now issued the following update about the status of the band’s current tour with Suicide Silence:

“Hey everyone, Frankie here again. Just wanted to update you on my voice situation. First off.. the support and love I saw come from you guys was really incredible and I can’t thank you enough for your understanding and concern.

“After returning to the stage last night in Nebraska, I decided it was best to really get a grasp on how much damage there is to my voice and whether or not I can actually continue on with the tour.

“I got the chance to see a doctor today in Des Moines, Iowa and was advised by a ENT specialist to not scream for at least the next two weeks. This was devastating news.

“But with that being said… that does not mean we are canceling and that does not mean I will not be on stage to deliver the best show possible regardless of my condition…

“I am highly depending on you, our fans. To come and help me get through these next couple weeks and really take part in the short time we have on stage as we support Suicide Silence on this 3 week long tour.

“And just in case anyone thinks I am full of shit I added the photos of my diagnosis from today’s doctors visit. Again…this is just to keep you informed on how I am doing and to remind you all that that we are NOT canceling anymore shows and despite my condition I will be up there to perform and reconnect with all of you amazing supporters.”

Drummer Jörg Michael Leaves Stratovarius For "Personal Reasons"

Finnish symphonic power metal band Stratovarius announced that long time German drummer Jörg Michael has left the band for “personal reasons.” It was announced in late 2010 that Michael was diagnosed with cancer, but there was no indication as of yet that the diagnosis was related to his departure.

Stratovarius issed the following statement:

“Stratovarius, one of the most successful Finnish acts with over 2.5 million albums sold, says farewell to longtime drummer Mr. Jörg Michael who will leave the band after 15 years for personal reasons. Jörg will play all the remaining tour dates until the end of January, and will celebrate with a special Finnish “Farewell Jörg” tour in Finland November 18th – 26th.

“Jörg joined the band in 1995 and the first Stratovarius album he played on was Episode (1996). He played on nine albums and nearly 1000 shows with the band.

” ‘The rest of us just has to accept Jörg’s decision with a lot of sadness and wish him all the best for the future. But we can also assure that the band will still go on’, says the singer Mr. Timo Kotipelto.

The band and Jörg are not going completely separate ways though, since Jörg will still be working for the band with his booking agency Twisted Talent Concerts. ‘Our long journey of over fifteen years together has not ended yet, as Jörg remains among our background forces – and we couldn’t be more happy about that. Not only has he been a great drummer but also a close friend and a true professional. We’re honored to have Jörg by our side for this farewell Tour. We can’t wait to rock with our ‘German Steamroller’ one last time! These shows will be unforgettable for all of us’, Kotipelto continues.”

In other Stratovarius news, the band posted the new music video for the song “Under Flaming Skies” taken from the 2011 release “Elysium.”
