Brian Matthew Lee Streams New Single “Bittersweet Journey”

Brian Matthew Lee just released a single titled “Bittersweet Journey,” featuring drummer Vinny Appice on drums (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Kill Devil Hill).

The song intro is haunting and melodic and proceeds with a bang with nearly 5 minutes of metal. A full length preview can be heard at Brian Matthew Lee’s website here.

In regards to fans asking when a full length CD will be on its way. “Hopefully never” laughs Brian Matthew Lee. “There’s all this talk lately that Rock is dead and there’s no money in music anymore. Well that’s because most musicians STILL don’t get it. Most musicians are still locking themselves up in a studio for 8-12 months hoarding up a bunch of shit-songs that should never see the light of day. Then they blame the streaming sites when nobody buys their crap.

“So for me, I hope I never release another CD. I’ll be writing and collaborating with veteran metal musicians and target a new single release every 4-6 weeks. And if the song is not good – truly good, it’ll never get released. (No more CD with designated ‘shit-slots’ to hide your crap songs in). In my opinion, that’s why streaming is so popular. Fans are tired of all the lazy musician ‘garbage’ out there so they’re turning to streaming to roll their own listening experience.

“Anyway, Bittersweet Journey is the first of many and is really picking up some major traction. Give a listen. I’m looking forward to the next release and already have a number of amazing musicians lined up.”

Megadeth Drops Off Motorboat Cruise Due To Medical Issues

Motörhead’s Motörboat regrets to announce that Megadeth has been forced to withdraw from the September 22nd – 26th cruise due to medical reasons. Heavy metal all-star band Metal Allegiance – including Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Chris Broderick – has now been added to the Motörhead’s Motörboat music lineup.

Metal Allegiance promises Motörboaters the rare opportunity to see a diverse group of metal legends interacting and performing together on the same stage. Singers Philip Anselmo (Down, ex-Pantera), Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), and Chuck Billy (Testament), guitarists Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Jon Donais (Anthrax, Shadows Fall), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Mark Zavon (Kill Devil Hill), bassists Frank Bello (Anthrax), Rex Brown (Kill Devil Hill, ex-Pantera) and David Ellefson (Megadeth), and drummers Charlie Benante (Anthrax) and Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater) will put their spin on a scorching set of heavy metal’s most influential and recognizable songs.

Megadeth issued the following statement about the unfortunate cancellation: “Due to complications arising from a previous cervical spine surgery, and upon his doctor’s strict recommendations, Dave Mustaine has cancelled all performances for the next 8 weeks. With rest and treatment, he is expected to recover and resume performing soon. The band was looking forward to the concerts and cruise, and is disappointed that they will not be able to see their fans. Megadeth expects to return to the road and will see their fans soon!”

“You can’t replace a band like Megadeth, who have done so much to change the landscape of heavy music over the past 30 years. We wish Dave Mustaine all the best in his recovery,” says event producer Alan Koenig of ASK4 Entertainment. “But we’re excited that Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Chris Broderick will still be joining us. The whole reason to do these music cruises is to give fans an experience that they can’t get anywhere else – and bringing Metal Allegiance onboard with metal’s most loyal fans fits that bill.”

Megadeth’s David Ellefson comments, “I’m really looking forward to being together with our friends and fans on Motörboat. Metal Allegiance is a great way to continue our brotherhood of all things metal.”

“I always love getting together with my brothers and throwing down. The Allegiance jam is sure to be the best jam I’ve been involved with yet,” says Philip Anselmo.

Rex Brown of Kill Devil Hill says, “We have jammed at some big metal events in the past, but Metal Allegiance is gonna blow EVERYONE on the Motörboat cruise right out of the water!!! Let her rip!”

Mike Portnoy agrees: “I’ve been honored to have been part of some previous metal jams over the years and there’s something very special and (Goddamn) electric that happens when you put this group of guys together in a room or on a stage. Myself and my brothers in metal on the Motörboat are metal lovers through and through and we love to get together to jam, have fun and pay tribute to the music that we all love so much.”

The first annual Motörhead’s Motörboat will sail from Miami, visiting the ports of Key West , Florida and Cozumel just off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for the September 22nd – 26th, 2014 cruise on the Carnival Ecstasy.

Earthen Grave Playing East Coast Shows This Weekend, Live Footage Posted Online

Amidst a cluster of regional Summer tours, including recent performances throughout the Midwest and Southern U.S. and a show in Canada, Chicago’s orchestral epic doom outfit Earthen Grave will head east this week.

The band will play an early show at Acheron in Brooklyn, New York this Friday, preceded by a concert by bassist Ron Holzner’s other band The Skull with Eric Wagner at Saint Vitus Bar. The next day Earthen Grave will travel to Connecticut for a performance at Stoner Hands of Doom XII on Saturday alongside RoadSaw, Ichabod, Raw Radar War, Pilgrim, Earthride, Revelation, Pale Divine, Iron Man, Elder, War Injun and tons more at the four-day all-ages event. Earthen Grave will be unveiling a brand new track at the East Coast shows this weekend as well.

Earthen Grave will also be supporting Kill Devil Hill (featuring Rex Brown and Vinny Appice) Thursday Sept 13th at Chicago’s Double Door, and the performance is to be streamed live on Gigity.TV. Specifics will be posted on the band’s website shortly. Earthen Grave recently performed at the two-day Days Of The Doomed II Festival in Cudahy, Wisconsin alongside Solace, Blood Farmers, Earthride, Revelation, Argus and more.

The outfit then crossed into Canada and played a first international show, as part of the Music & Beyond Festival in Ontario where the band performed within a deconsecrated wood cathedral. Several weeks later as the group was set to play in New Orleans, the show was canceled en-route. Making last-minute arrangements, EG ended up joining the bill at a raging, beer-soaked CD release party for Hipsterectomy in Austin, and also landed a spot on Ripple Festival in Dallas where the infamous Sherman from Earthride joined for two songs, and guitarist Jason Muxlow met one his biggest metal influences when he busted a guitar string mid-set and John Perez stepped out of the crowd to fix it. View footage from a recent show after the jump.

Upcoming live shows are:

8/31/2012 The Acheron – Brooklyn, NY w/ Iron Man, War Injun, Kin of Ettins
9/01/2012 El ‘n’ Gee – New London, CT @ SHoD Fest
9/13/2012 The Double Door – Chicago, IL w/ Kill Devil Hill
