Born Of Osiris Reveals New Album “The Simulation” Details; Posts New Video “The Accursed” Online

American metalcore outfit Born Of Osiris has announced that they will be releasing a new studio album, “The Simulation” through Sumerian Records on January 11th. In preparation for the release, the group has released a new music video for the song, “The Accursed,” which can be found below, along with the album’s artwork and tracklisting.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “The first single and video for ‘The Accursed’ plays exactly off of the album titles and themes. People are stuck and addicted to machines, social media, virtual realities and anything that creates a life or reality that’s not their own. Our phones have become an extension of ourselves, a body part. We play games or throw on virtual headsets that literally suck us out of the reality we live and into a fantasy. What’s the future going to look like, a simulation? Could the simulation have already begun?

“Also, this new album keeps the integrity high across the board. I want to make the best songs I could for the people who are listening (and myself), and I want to perform them to their best ability on stage to give the people attending our shows those ‘wow’ moments. We want to give them those concert memories that’ll last a lifetime.”

Joe Buras (backing vocals, synth) further states: “We welcome the incorporation of steel, or have we already? It’s hard to prove we are not already in a simulation with the development of AI, advances in brain mapping technology and the inevitable singularity. We now see an age that is either here or on the horizon.”

Tracklisting:

1. The Accursed
2. Disconnectome
3. Cycles Of Tragedy
4. Under The Gun
5. Recursion
6. Analogs In A Cell
7. Silence The Echo
8. One Without The Other

The idea for the game was conceived in the fall of 2015 when Robert Chirico Willstedt, a video game producer in Stockholm and founder of Ride & Crash Games AB, met Amon Amarth. Robert and the band bonded over epic amounts of beer and a common love of video games, and they started discussing how cool it would be if they could create a video game for Amon Amarth.

There and then, the idea was born of a retro style Viking platformer with Amon Amarth music in ’80s sounding square wave format. Robert hand-picked a team of developers and designers to realize the game concept. The band met the development team continuously during the development process to ensure the end product would stay true to the initial vision of the game. This is an authentic Amon Amarth product.

Grab Mjolnir. Blast Amon Amarth. Save Midgard.”

Ashbringer Signs With Prosthetic Records

Prosthetic Records is excited to welcome Minnesota’s Ashbringer to the family. Specializing in equal parts brutality, melod,y and the ethereal, Ashbringer’s black metal metamorphosis began in 2013 as the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Nick Stanger.

Stanger comments on the signing: “We are thrilled to announce that we have signed with Prosthetic Records, and I couldn’t be more excited for the future of the band. For as long as I’ve been interested in music, I’ve always had a strange obsession with reading the credits and liner notes to every album I purchase in detail, and Prosthetic is a name that I grew up with. They released many albums that were absolutely integral to my development both as a listener and as a musician, and it’s so exciting to now become a part of that.”

The band is heading out for a short North American run, playing songs from previous two full-length albums, 2015’s “Vacant” and last year’s “Yugen.”

Bloodstock Festival Reveals Rock And Metal Museum’s 2017 Exhibitors

UK’s Bloodstock Festival (also know as Bloodstock Open Air) has become in recent years, one of Europe’s most illustrious Metal gatherings. An undeniable proof of the fest’s panache is the inclusion of bands like Blind Guardian, Megadeth, Amon Amarth, Ghost, Testament, Kreator, Hatebreed, Arch Enemy in the 2017 line-up. This event also sponsors the Rock And Metal Museum (RAM)—a gallery that exhibits original artworks and other items related with Heavy Metal visual imagery. The upcoming edition will take place from August 10th to 13th within Bloodstock’s premises and promises to be a true feast for the senses. Let’s meet some of this year’s exhibitors.

PAUL RAYMOND GREGORY
This illustrious British artist is Bloodstock’s mastermind and the creator of RAM. He has painted dozens of album covers for collectives like Saxon, Dio, Blind Guardian, and is also well-known for his gigantic J.R.R Tolkien-inspired canvases. His leading role has proven crucial fro the development of both the gallery through the years.

Gregory explains: “I had my own gallery many years ago holding some notable exhibitions. I decided to sell the gallery to concentrate on my own work which was inspired by Tolkien’s fictional universe. It was one of my Tolkien pieces that came to the attention of Saxon’s manager in 1983 the album was Crusader released in 1984. In 2014 I decided to celebrate my thirtieth anniversary with the music industry by returning to my roots with a gallery at Bloodstock… The gallery will always be adding new artists, authors, photographers and any other talented muse we feel will sit well with the gallery and its aims. I never looked upon it as a money-spinner. For me was a passion that I wanted to create something that was unique and that I could see developing. So I think for me it has to be the passion of doing something you want to do, and that is how it has worked.”

ELIRAN KANTOR
This is the first time that Israeli visionary, Eliran Kantor, exhibits his works at the Rock And Metal Museum. Widely known for his arresting cover illustrations for Testament, Sigh, Atheist, Soulfly, Iced Earth, etc. this Berlin-based artist is considered of the greatest artists working in the Metal scene today.

Regarding his RAM participation, Kantor comments: “I’m very excited about being invited to attend the RAM at Bloodstock this year by Paul Raymond Gregory. There will be 5 of my pieces added to the permanent collection and on display this year. Not sure I can say which one – come and see for yourself!”

AND JUSTICE FOR ART
This is the second consecutive year that the book “And Justice For Art” will be exhibited at the Rock And Metal Museum. The difference is that this time, author Ramon Martos-Garcia will be exhibiting the Revised Edition of this 264-color pages volume. The new edition includes more than 450 images and 105 exclusive interviews with members of Amorphis, Slayer, Cradle Of Filth, Carcass, Cattle Decapitation, Anthrax, Enslaved, Cormorant, At The Gates, Katatonia, etc. regarding the creation of some of Metal’s most iconic album covers.

When asked why he decided to create a revised edition of the book, author Martos-Garcia says: “I didn’t want to just re-print the same book again. I had new material available—new images and commentaries. So, I decided to add as much as I could and bring something new to the table while keeping intact the essence of previous edition. There are new comments, more graphics, but it’s still the same book… dramatically improved and updated.”

A signed copy of “And Justice For Art” will be given away to a lucky Bloodstock ticket holder. Check out the book exclusively at the official store: www.andjusticeforart.bigcartel.com

CHRISTIAN SLOAN HALL
American illustrator, Christian Sloan Hall has been widely praised for his striking, Viking-inspired illustrations for Swedish metallers, Amon Amarth. In addition, he’s also produced visuals for Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Sunn o))), etc. He’s already familiar with RAM and Bloodstock. Last year, he created an exclusive artwork for the Rock And Metal Museum—personally commissioned by Bloodstock’s main man, Paul Raymond Gregory.

“Amon Amarth are headlining this year, so Paul thought it would be cool to display some of the work I’ve done for them over the years,” Sloan Hall comments. “Two of the battle scenes I’ve done for them that have been used for backdrops will be on show, as well as some of the illustrations I’ve done for tour shirts, and a few others like some pieces I’ve done for DC snowboards, etc… Events like RAM are beyond important. The once flourishing illustration industry has been a dying one for decades, struggling to survive in the face of constant exploitation and digital emulation. Events like this are crucial in the battle to keep the industry alive but restore Illustration and art to its former glory. I’m greatly honored to be able to be a part of it!”

PAUL HARRIES
Paul Harries’s photo-portfolio includes shots of Rock/Metal luminaries such as Metallica, Nirvana, Ghost, Muse, Green Day, AC/DC and Osbourne, among many others. He’s currently one of Kerrang! magazine’s leading photographers and has even published a Slipknot-inspired photo-book titled, “Slipknot: Dysfunctional Family Portraits.”

“I have not expectations really, I just like to show my work,” the British photographer admits. “The images on show will be from Lemmy, Slipknot, Ghost, Slash, Lamb Of God and Lizzy Hale. I thought this selection would fit in nicely with the Bloodstock vibe… Prints are available to purchase so if I sell a few that will be great.”

CYNOSURE GUITARS
Custom-made Cynosure guitars and basses, have been part of the Rock And Metal Museum for years. Hailing from England, these super-exclusive instruments have become one of RAM’s focus of attention. “Cynosure can be defined as ‘something that attracts attention by its brilliance’,” says mastermind, Oliver Andrew. “Paul Gregory appreciated my postmodern approach to visualization of the instruments and requested that I showcase my “fantastical” instruments among his artwork. The whole experience was most humbling, having some of my favorite artists and bands take notice of my art, not only offering their opinions, but expressing genuine admiration for my work.”

Over the years, Gregory has commissioned several Cynosure guitars, exclusively for Bloodstock and RAM, including the official RAM guitar, and Motorhead and Saxon-inspired six strings. “The guitars built for Paul Raymond Gregory, have been played by bands such as, Carcass, Emperor, Crowbar and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth,” Andrew says. “The idea is to create a guitar that would be multi-faceted, an art-piece that would be recognized as such, however, still maintaining its distinction as a playable instrument.”

Other RAM 2017 exhibitors are; Art Vinyl, Darkaya books, Daniel P. Carter and Heathen Wax Works. Find more about them at: https://www.facebook.com/RockAndMetalMuseum/

Sifting Responds To Trump’s Proposed Raise Act With New Song “Not From Here”

As a direct response to the Trump administration’s proposed Raise Act, Venezuelan-American progressive metal outfit Sifting just unveiled a video for new single “Not From Here.” The video was directed by Abelardo Malpica at LH FILM.

“Not from Here” also serves as the title track taken from an upcoming full-length album produced by Ryan Williams (Velvet Revolver, Rage Against the Machine) and Steve Evetts (Senses Fail, Suicide Silence), set for worldwide release on September 29th, 2017 via Eclipse Records.

“We can’t forget that this beautiful nation was built by immigrants. That diversity has contributed to the development of this great nation,” states vocalist and frontman Eduardo Gil. “The intent of the proposed Perdue-Cotton Raise Act is to curb the level of legal immigration by proposing a merit-based system that grades immigrants based solely on their skills. When I first moved here from Venezuela, I thought I needed to fit in, lose my accent, and dress like everyone in Los Angeles. After reflection however, I realized that I would have been lying to myself. ‘Not From Here’ was written about overcoming this dilemma which is something all immigrants think about. We don’t need to erase our heritage, or try to fit in. This is a free country and that’s why this nation is great!”

You can also catch Sifting performing live on these upcoming dates:

July 28 – Pomona, CA @ Character’s Sports Bar (w/ Sorrowseed)
September 13 – Los Angeles, CA @ Silverlake Lounge (w/ Obey the Wolves & Shattered Systems)

Broken Hope Posts “The Meek Shall Inherit Shit” Interactive Video

Broken Hope just posted a new 360 degree video for latest track “The Meek Shall Inherit Shit.” Explore unique perspectives of the extreme and incredible art of Wes Benscoter and experience a kaleidosphere of death metal misanthropy at every turn in this interactive video.

While much of the album pays tributes to John Carpenter’s classic “The Thing” and John W. Campbell Jr’s short story “Who Goes There,” the lyrics behind “The Meek Shall Inherit Shit” were actually inspired by the true horrors observed in the real world.

Guitarist and songwriter Jeremy Wagner explains: “’The Meek Shall Inherit Shit’ is a song I’ve been wanting to write lyrically for some time. I’m an environmentalist – a guy who considers environment, rather than heredity, as the primary influence on the development human beings. Homo sapiens are living in a shitpile.

“We constantly foul our nest, we are killing the planet, and we cause up to 2,000 extinctions every year. Look, I don’t want to get all hippy and political here. I just love the natural world so much and I hate what’s being done to it. It fucking pisses me off! And you can hear my anger in the lyrics and the music of this track.”
