Chton Announces New Album "The Devil Builds," Splits With Vocalist Terje

Chton has returned from the living dead with the band’s sophomore album “The Devil Builds” and is now looking for a label to help release it. The album features 10 tracks of dark and brutal death metal drenched in occult horror.

“The Devil Builds” was recorded and produced at Morningstar Studio with Arnt Obsidian Grønbech (Keep of Kalessin, Satyricon) at the helm, and mixed by Stamos Koliousis (Djerv, Mencea) at 2010 Studio in Berlin, known for earlier work with Vreid, Stonegard and Funeral. The band commented on its history and upcoming activity:

“Chton was founded in 1999 in Trondheim, Norway, and got the name around in the the Death Metal underground with the release of their debut album ‘Chtonian Lifecode’ (Retribute Records 2004). Chton has shered the stage with bands like Morbid Angel, Mayhem, Amon Amarth, Behemoth and many others, and got a lot of press attention and mentions by the likes of late BBC Radio1 legend John Peel and Fenriz of Darkthrone. Chton is set to play the 2012 Inferno Festival at the 4th of April at the club Blå along with Headspin and Manifest.”

Commented lead guitarist and founding member Øyvind: “Chton is very exited to return to the stage with full force, and we’re working on a tour that will bring our rotten blasphemies to places we’ve never been with this band!” Chton is now a 4-piece as vocalist Terje has chosen to leave the band after the recording of “The Devil Builds.” Bassist Ola now handles main vocals.

Terje added: “After 10 Years as vocalist in Chton I have decided to leave the band. We are all good friends and the only reason for me leaving is that I wish to move on and do something else. As a last effort in the the band I have done all the main vocals on the forthcoming album “The Devil Builds”. We all feel that we have managed to capture the raw and old school feeling of Death Metal on this album and this is what CHTON is all about!”

Elis Calls It Quits; Band Disbands After Vocalist Departure

Lichtensteinian gothic metal band Elis has decided to call it quits with the recent departure of Simone Christinat (Legenda Aurea) due to “too much stress.” The band has seen its share of bad luck with the death of Sabine Dünser in 2006 due to a cerebral haemorrhage on July 8, 2006. After the death the band vowed to carry on and hired Ex-Eyes of Eden original vocalist Sandra Schleret, who joined the band in 2006 and stayed until 2011, having only recorded one album, “Catharsis” in 2009. The band decided to make one last attempt and hired Simone Christinat in 2011. Less than a year later Christinat has departed and the band has called it a day.

The following statement was issued on the band’s official website:

We have to inform you that ELIS has passed into history.Simone told us a couple of days ago, that she will leave ELIS immediately due to too much stress. We have decided now to quit the band. Too much things happened during all these years to continue once again.

But on the other side, there were a lot of good and lucky moments in this almost ten years of ELIS. Therefore we want to say thank you for your support, your dedication and your friendship through all these years!

But this will not be the end of our musical careers, some projects are already in the pipeline.
You will find more information about these things very soon on this location.

Cheers and take care!
Max, Tom, Pete, Chris
