Music Video For New Song “Renegade Protest Movement” Issued By Heaven Below

US rock/metal band Heaven Below, which features Union Underground/Lita Ford guitarist Patrick Kennison, released the first official video for the song “Renegade Protest Movement.” The track is taken from their umcoming album “Good Morning Apocalypse,” due out via David Ellefson‘s EMP Label Group/eOne Entertainment (USA) and SPV (Europe) on Friday, October 14th.

The band’s third full-length studio effort, is a concept record that is set in a post-apocalyptic world. It features guest appearances from Lita Ford, Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth, Watchtower), Udo Dirkschneider(U.D.O., Accept) and Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus). The video can be seen in the player below.

Fronted by Kennison, who also handles guitar duties, Heaven Below has been breaking ground in L.A. for several years with their brand of progressive hard rock/metal, self-releasing three LPs and a series of EPs, spawning several active rock hits, including “When Daylight Dies,” and the band’s monstrous take on Rush’s “Subdivisions”, featuring a guest appearance from the one and only William Shatner.

Says Kennison: “Nearly 4 years ago the band and I decided that we’d like to start working on a concept record. We knew how ambitious it sounded to even consider that, but once several legendary artists offered to help make it become a reality, we knew we had something.”

He continues: “With over 30 songs written, we narrowed it down to the top 12. Udo Dirkschneider, Lita Ford, Jason McMaster, and Kobra Paige all stepped up to lend their amazing talents. We feel this album is a powerful culmination of old school metal meets current fresh metal. This kind of undertaking only comes along once in a lifetime, and we think we captured the moment on ‘Good Morning Apocalypse.’ The timing was perfect with EMP’s outside of the box approach to new music.”

The track list for “Good Morning Apocalypse” is:

1. Nefarious Angels (feat. Jason McMaster)
2. Renegade Protest Movement
3. Follow Me Under
4. Devilina And The Damage Done (feat. Kobra Paige)
5. Nightfall Comes To Life
6. Killing The Deadman

Voice Of The Soul Streams Full “Catacombs” Album Online

Voice Of The Soul is set to unleash debut full-length album “Catacombs” in a mere matter of days and today the outfit, hailing from the Middle East, has teamed up with to offer a pre-release aural assault streaming the album in its entirety. Give it a listen below.

Vocalist and guitarist Kareem Chehayeb comments on the latest offering from the band: “The band started off as a straight up melodic death metal band, ‘Catacombs’ took on a different shift. The thrash has virtually disappeared from our sound on this album and riffs have some added ‘colour’ now which was inspired by bands like Opeth, Gojira, Daylight Dies, and various jazz bands that really inspired me to start writing metal again. ‘Catacombs’ also introduces occasional clean vocals, as well as more doom metal on some tracks.”

Atten Ash Streaming Full “The Hourglass” Album Online

The official worldwide release of Atten Ash’s “The Hourglass” album is upon us, with the album coming in digital format as well as a physical digipack CD with 12 page booklet. Give it a listen below, or order your own copy at this location. Hypnotic Dirge Records also comments:

“A three-piece atmospheric/melodic death-doom band from North Carolina, Atten Ash is the creation of founding member James Greene, who wrote the foundations of the songs which would later become ‘The Hourglass.’

“In 2011, James began collaborating with Barre Gambling (founding guitarist of Daylight Dies) and Archie Hunt (vocalist/guitarist of Legion of the Fallen) and the trio continued the musical work arranging songs, establishing vocal patterns, writing lyrics and guitar solos.

“Recorded in 2012, an intricate and encapsulating death-doom portrait permeates Atten Ash’s first full-length recording. Rich in atmosphere, swaying through infectious melodies and razorsharp solos while displaying both melancholy and aggression with conviction and force, ‘The Hourglass’ is the result of a band with considerable maturity and experience, already at the top of their craft, and with a defined vision for their sound placing them among the classic death-doom giants of the genre.

“Those pining for genuine melodic/atmospheric death-doom for the dark and cold days ahead, and especially fans and listeners of bands such as Daylight Dies, Slumber, Katatonia, Woccon, Doom:vs, October Tide, and Helevorn (among others) would be wise to heed attention.”

Prospekt Reveals “The Colourless Sunrise” Details

This Autumn, Sensory Records will release the energetic and unrestrained nine-track opus entitled “The Colourless Sunrise” — the maiden full-length album from Oxford, England’s Prospekt — now locked down for an October 22nd street date.

Today Sea Of Tranquilly is hosting a listen to the album’s opening track, “A Desolate Kingdom,” which can be heard in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the album:

“The recently completed The Colourless Sunrise was recorded by the band and then mixed by world renowned producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Daylight Dies, Amon Amarth, Symphony X) and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood (of Periphery), and mastered by Borgen as well. Surging beyond the one-hour mark, the huge The Colourless Sunrise recording builds upon the solid foundation Prospekt constructed on their self-titled 2011-released debut EP, expanding their spires of vibrant, modern take on their respective genre to much greater heights.

“Influenced by bands such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Opeth and Circus Maximus, as well as film scores and fusion, Prospekt combines the fierce technicality of progressive metal with the symphonic elements of contemporary prog. From brutal riffs coupled with odd time-signatures, to majestic melodies, the principle of the band’s music is to create an intelligent and atmospheric mix of melodic, modern progressive metal. Incorporating passionate higher ranged vocals, frenetic guitar work, haunting orchestration and solid grooves, every composition remains both interesting and original. The album’s cover art was created by Mattias Noren / ProgArt Media (Into Eternity, Evergrey, Wolverine, etc.).”

In the coming weeks, Prospekt will be filming an official video for another track from the album to be released closer to its release date. Additionally, the band will begin to perform material from “The Colourless Sunrise” live in support of the album, beginning with a record release show in Oxford on November 15th and much more to follow.

The album’s track listing is as follows:

1. A Desolate Kingdom
2. Dissident Priests
3. Eternal Memories
4. Shroud
5. The Colourless Sunrise
6. Visions
7. The Great Awakening
8. Shutter Asylum

Metadox Issues New Album, Live Activity Update

Newly reformed act Metadox (featuring former members of DesDemon) has checked in with the following press release about recording new material and gearing up for live shows:

“In this day and age, it’s hard to find musicians willing to make the best decisions and have the patience to do things the right way. New York’s revitalized Metadox is one such band. Composed of some powerhouse players from the New York metal scene, the band is poised for it’s re-emergence.

“Metadox was formerly signed to Metal Mayhem Music, however a deal went south and the band was put on hiatus by founder and songwriter Frank Tosi. Frank co-founded DesDemon and pursued his talents with DesDemon. Metadox’s past success is well documented, sharing the stage with Dragonforce, Kamelot, Katatonia, Moonspell, Therion, God Forbid, Between the Buried and Me, Epica, Sonata Arctica, Daylight Dies, as well as countless others bands in the NY, NJ, CT area scene.

“After the demise of DesDemon, and a well needed respite, Frank Tosi felt now was the right time to give Metadox the chance it deserves with some truly high caliber musicians.

“Frank Tosi is joined by former DesDemon bandmates, Ronald Porcelli, Mike Marrone, and long time friend Bob Neal from Stamford CT. Vocalist was cast by posting an open call on all social media and metal news sites, which Metadox received a flourish of replies. After a short search, the band choose former Livesay vocalist Geoff Rose. Geoff brings a traditional metal vocal styling with a fresh modern approach.

“Metadox have begun pre-production recordings. The new and originally written material has taken on a new life and fire, forging something really exciting!”

Metadox will perform live on April 19th at Paganfest IV’s with Tyr, Ensiferum, Heidevolk, TrollfesT, and Hellsot in Poughkeepsie NY. A warm up show is also scheduled on April 6th with longtime friends Joe Stump and David Mercado in Stamford CT at Fiddler’s. The band is currently booking more live dates, and will be planning to release a debut album later in 2013. Metadox consists of:

Daylight Dies Releases New Music Video For "Dreaming Of Breathing"

As American doom metal unit Daylight Dies releases forth studio full-length “A Frail Becoming” (reviewed here) via Candlelight Records this week, the band’s brand new video for the album is today unveiled via Metal Injection.

Constructed for the album’s fourth track, “Dreaming of Breathing,” the video was directed by Ramon Boutviset. Check out the video in the player below or over at Metal Injection here.

Stated drummer Jesse Haff on the course taken in bringing the video to fruition: “We worked with director Ramon Boutviseth back in 2006 when he filmed the ‘Lies the Bind’ video. We were blown away by what he delivered, and by his talents and ambition. We knew without hesitation he was who we wanted to work with for the ‘Dreaming of Breathing’ video. It was important the video not only visually matched the aesthetic of the album art, but also communicate at least metaphorically some of the meaning behind the song. He filmed the narrative bits in Malibu, California, and the band shots in a small studio with no air conditioning during a sweltering hot evening in North Carolina. We think the end result is gorgeous and fitting, and are just so pleased to have worked with Ramon and his team once again.”

The track list for “A Frail Becoming” is as follows:

1. Infidel
2. The Pale Approach
3. Sunset
4. Dreaming of Breathing
5. A Final Vestige (streaming here)
6. Ghosting
7. Hold On To Nothing
8. Water’s Edge
9. An Heir to Emptiness
