Fleshgod Apocalypse Singer Tommaso Riccardi Quits Band – New Line-Up Revealed

Fleshgod Apocalypse announces the departure of vocalist/guitarist Tommaso Riccardi from its ranks. The group issues the below statement on the matter:

“Hello friends,

there’s no easy way to say this, so we’ll go straight to the point:

about a couple of months ago, our singer Tommaso left the band for personal reasons. Our separation wasn’t painless, but everybody thought this was the best solution.

Therefore we sat down and tried to figure out all possible scenarios for a band that suddenly loses its frontman. The will to go on and continue this journey was stronger than everything else.

Since the message of Fleshgod Apocalypse goes beyond music itself, we couldn’t let someone who wasn’t there since the beginning be its spokesman.

So the only way to go on was to take a look back at our roots: we decided that Francesco Paoli, our drummer, songwriter, founder and first frontman of the band, was the natural choice for this delicate and also challenging position.

Our mastermind has finally taken back his originary role as lead vocalist and guitarist.

From now on, besides our precious soprano singer Veronica Bordacchini, we’ll have the honour to share the stage with the Italian metal legend David Folchitto (Stormlord, Prophilax) on drums together with the phenomenal Fabio Bartoletti (Deceptionist) on lead guitar. Fleshgod Apocalypse are more focused and determined than ever.

Expect new epic live experiences and, most likely, the darkest and heaviest Fleshgod Apocalypse album that we’ve ever written. We can’t wait to start this new, exciting chapter of our career.

Our friends in South America will be the first ones to witness the new course of the band, with Francesco as our frontman. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Lyric Video For New Track “Umana” Available From Novembre

Novembre, Italy’s atmospheric death/doom metal purveyor, has released the first track “Umana” from its new album “URSA,” due to be released on April 1st via Peaceville. View the “Umana” lyric video below.

Founding member and writer Carmelo Orlando commented on the track: “‘Umana’ (Italian for ‘humane’) is quite an old track, maybe eight years old, but it somehow managed to remain fresh. It’s the first step into our new era, where songs got rid of useless frills and soar up above more easily. Also, lyrically, we expanded into new territories, a no man’s land where philosophy, sociology and psychology meet. We let a giant like philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti speak for us.”

“URSA” is available to pre-order on CD and LP from the Peaceville webstore at this location. Pre-orders also come with a bonus free three track EP “Annoluce,” plus two exclusive tracks.

Novembre’s seventh album “URSA” was recorded at Blue Noise Studio and PlayRec studio by Massimiliano Pagliuso, then mixed and mastered at Unisound Studios by Dan Swanö (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath). Cover art comes courtesy of Travis Smith.

After a period of inactivity since 2007’s The Blue, which involved the departure of longstanding member Giuseppe Orlando, Novembre returns with a new set of potent and poignant tracks, effortlessly transitioning between soothing, epic, melancholy and intense, from what is one of the originators of the whole atmospheric death/doom scene. Headed by founding member and writer Carmelo Orlando, and with a reinvigorated musical alliance with Massimiliano Pagliuso, the line-up is completed by Fabio Fraschini (previously bassist on the Materia album) and David Folchitto on drums. There is also a special guest appearance from Anders Nyström of the Swedish doom master Katatonia, adding his own unique ‘cold’ touch to the album’s single track “Annoluce.”

Added Carmelo Orlando: “This album is a very important step in my life. It got me closer to what some may call ‘maturity.’ I’ve been able to delve even deeper into the chasm of the subconscious and unearth gems I didn’t think existed. Lyrically and conceptually I explored new shores. I moved my ever-inwards headlights, and for the first time I dared to point them outwards, against the squalor of this Orwellian apocalypse we’re committing towards the Earth and its sons, on a daily basis, in quasi-total indifference.”

The track listing for “URSA” is:

1. Australis
2. The Rose
3. Umana
4. Easter
5. URSA
6. Oceans of Afternoons
7. Annoluce
8. Agathae
9. Bremen
10. Fin

After a period of inactivity since 2007’s “The Blue,” which involved the departure of longstanding member Giuseppe Orlando, Novembre now returns with “URSA,” a new set of potent and poignant tracks.

Headed by founding member and writer Carmelo Orlando, & with a reinvigorated musical alliance with Massimiliano Pagliuso, the line-up is completed by Fabio Fraschini (previously bassist on the “Materia” album), and David Folchitto on drums. There is also a special guest appearance from Anders Nystrom of Katatonia on this album, adding his own unique cold touch to the track “Annoluce.”

“URSA” (the acronym for “Union des Republiques Socialistes Animales”), was the title initially chosen for the French translation of George Orwell’s novel “Animal Farm.” Lyrically and conceptually the album is a statement against the squalor of this Orwellian apocalypse we’re committing towards the Earth and its sons, with indifference on a daily basis.

The album was recorded at Blue Noise Studio, and PlayRec studio by Massimiliano, then mixed and mastered at Unisound Studios by Dan Swano (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath), Cover art comes courtesy of Travis Smith. Set to drop April 1st, pre-orders are online here.
