Finnish progressive melodic death metallers Damnation Plan has released the new single “Reality Illusion,” which you can check out in the player below. The song is the title track from the upcoming new album coming March 10th.

The band is running a Pledge Music pre-order campaign for the upcoming full length album. By pre-ordering the album from the campaign you’ll get 10+ in-depth video documentary episodes about the making of the album. The campaign can be found here at this location.

Drummer/songwriter/lyricist Jarkko Lunnas commented: “Creating this album took us 3+ years of hard work, driving me and some of us almost insane during the process of recording the album almost entirely ourselves. It was a massive task but I believe it served the end result well!

“The album deals with separating the truth from the beliefs and seeing it (or not seeing it) through the different bubbles that we’ve learned to live in our stable and modern societies. We are estranged from the reality until we are forced to face it.

“The album delivers the message covering a whole spectrum of feelings from an atmospheric and emotional perspective, all the way to the maximal intensity.”

“Reality Illusion” was mixed by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, Bloodbath, etc) at Unisound Studios. The track listing for the album is:

1. Intro
2. Beyond These Walls
3. Rulers Of Truth
4. Rise Of The Messenger
5. Blinded Faith
6. The Empowerment
7. Maze Of Despair
8. Iron Curtain Falls
9. Reality Illusion
10. A Chapter In Greed
11. The Final Destination

Damnation Plan Issues New Album Recording Update

Last month Damnation Plan announced plans to record the follow-up to “The Wakening,” and now the group has issued the following studio update:

“So, previous week we got the drums recorded for the new album! A very busy and intense week as was pretty much expected. Once again we made sure we got all the needed recorded, including a couple of extras and alternative takes (just in case for possible final arrangements / adjustments). Eventually we had a bit over 3 days to record 12 songs, the rest 2 days was spent for micing / searching sounds / battling with technical issues / editing etc.

“Plan was to document as much of the action also on video, which we did with our best ability alongside the main point – getting everything needed on tape, which pretty much takes all the focus.

“An extra day wouldn’t have hurt again for that! Still haven’t had time to go through all the footage properly enough to figure out how to exactly put it out for you, but in meantime here’s a couple of improvised random fills and beats from a studio day warmup/soundcheck for your enjoyment! More coverage to follow! Next week we’ll begin tracking the guitars!”

Damnation Plan Posts “The Wakening” Lyric Video

Finnish outfit Damnation Plan has released a lyric video for the title track “The Wakening” to celebrate the first anniversary of the album’s release via Coroner Records.

Jarkko Lunnas (drums) commented: “There was a lot of effort put to the lyrics of the album, and these days when not many gets the physical album anymore and reads the lyrics from the booklet, we decided to put them up front in form of a music video.

“About the lyrics of the song and the album… A lot of it deals with that people in general don’t seem to care what happens in the world until it’s their own life on the line and when the shit has already hit the fan. The whole current economic system is based on growth, everybody wants more, yet the population growth keeps on increasing, putting an exponentially growing debt on resources which are already on minus. No one reacts to the big picture.

“The scenario is that people while get their final wakening the moment when it’s already too late, and it is inevitable with the current phase. One of the problems is that politicians don’t think long term. What only matters is do they get elected for their next season. Despite all the information and evidence available to everybody we seem to allow history to repeat itself and we learn nothing.”
