New Album “This Is Hell” Announced By The Convalescence

Ohio symphonic death metal unit/recent Unique Leader signee The Convalescence will release the new album “This Is Hell” on September 1st.

The ten-track offering was produced by John Burke (Forever In Terror, Captain Kid, etc.) at Vibe Studios, which was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Beyond Creation, etc.) at The Grid and comes wrapped in the macabre cover art of Coki Greenway.

The band commented: “We recently signed with Unique Leader Records to help us deliver our heaviest and darkest album yet with This Is Hell. We believe this is by far our best work and the strongest lineup of musicians we have ever had. This album has a lot more of a death metal feel to it than Poison Words and The Process but it’s still got The Convalescence sound with symphonic melodies from Katie [McCrimmon] on keys and plenty of slamming breakdowns.”

Preorders for “This Is Hell” will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the title track streaming in the player below.

The track listing is:

1. Scum
2. No Way Out
3. I Won’t Survive
4. Murder Machine
5. Burn
6. There Will Be Blood
7. Alone
8. This Is Hell
9. With No Hope
10. The World Infested

Dead Cross – featuring Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits), Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox) and Michael Crain (Retox, Festival of Dead Deer) – premieres a new song entitled “Seizure And Desist”, taken from the band’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, which will arrive in stores on August 04th via Ipecac Recordings.

Check out now “Seizure And Desist” below.

“The artist who created our album art, Eric Livingston, came up with this video. As far as I’m concerned, It sums up the current social and political climate of today. For a lot of humanity, this world is a mean motherfuckng place. The video captures the severity of the times we live in, as well as a means to communicate beyond basic language using iconic imagery, campy techniques, historical relevance, as well as a glimpse into the future.”

With their latest offering, Rust, the four-piece brilliantly combines industrial repetition (ala Godflesh) with the aggressive attack of metal/hardcore. Hailed as “pure, molten brutality” (Noisey.Vice.com), Rust continues down the path that Harm’s Way started when they formed in 2006, before releasing 2009′s Reality Approaches, 2011′s Isolation, and several EPs. Fans can expect another seminal album with the group’s upcoming, currently untitled record, which will be released via Metal Blade Records in 2018.

*=Tombs headline show

Tombs front-man Mike Hill is not a man interested in appeasing his existing audience or modifying the music he makes in the hope of luring in a broader one. Letting the songs come as and when inspiration hits him is integral to Hill’s process, and this accounts in part for The Grand Annihilation‘s diversity. The blasting, scathing yet melodic black metal savagery of opener “Black Sun Horizon” and “Way Of The Storm” are very much built to destroy, while wielding a poignancy that is undeniable – both of which stand in strong contrast to the uncomfortable post-punk squall of “Underneath” that showcases Hill’s Nick Cave/Ian Curtis-esque singing voice, while the likes of the throbbing “Saturnalian” and unnerving tribal thunder of “Walk With Me In Nightmares” stand in categories all of their own. While every track on The Grand Annihilation stands separate from those around it, it is still a cohesive collection, and at no point do the stylistic twists and turns undermine its coherence. “If you’ve been following Tombs, you probably know to expect the unexpected, and I always strive to present a full range of emotion on everything with the band’s name on it,” Hill explains. “That said, this is a very dark and introspective record that digs deep into the common ideas of mortality, infinity and cosmic mysteries. The lyrics on the new record are a celebration of freedom through embracing the dark side. Once you realize that you follow the dark path – the path of the individual – there is a certain feeling of liberation that accompanies it.”

The Grand Annihilation track-listing
1. Black Sun Horizon
2. Cold
3. Old Wounds
4. November Wolves
5. Underneath
6. Way of the Storm
7. Shadows at the End of the World
8. Walk with Me in Nightmares
9. Saturnalian
10. Temple of Mars
