Begins work on new album

Metal Blade Records has proudly re-signed Arch/Matheos for a worldwide deal!

Arch/Matheos began as a reunion between founding Fates Warning members John Arch (vocals) and Jim Matheos (guitar), who hadn’t collaborated since John Arch’s solo EP, A Twist Of Fate (2003) – and hadn’t fully collaborated for a whole album since Fates Warning‘s Awaken the Guardian (1986). In 2010, the duo began working on a record together and brought along three Fates Warning members to the fold. The five members would in turn release their debut album Sympathetic Resonance in 2011, under the name Arch/Matheos.

Since then, John Arch and Jim Matheos have kept busy with their other projects – but now the time has come for them to join forces once again, for a new Arch/Matheos release, due out 2019 via Metal Blade Records.

John Arch comments: “The desire and commitment from both of us is first and foremost, but the impetus to move forward with another A/M project fell in good part on how well ‘Sympathetic Resonance‘ was received, and how the fans have continued to show their support through a variety of mediums, stating they would like a follow-up effort. The timing for Jim and I seems to be right and things are coming along nicely. We look forward to sharing the results with you soon!”

Jim Matheos adds: “It’s great to be working with my old friend John Arch again. We push each other creatively in ways that brings out the best in both of us, I think. We’ve come up with what I hope is a worthy successor to ‘Sympathetic Resonance‘, and a great lineup of musicians to help us bring it to fruition.”

Already featuring special guests Thomas Lang, Bobby Jarzombek, Baard Kolstad, Mark Zonder, Matt Lynch, Steve Di Giorgio, Joey Vera, Sean Malone, Joe DiBiase, and Frank Aresti – with more to come! – this upcoming Arch/Matheos album is currently being tracked, with Jens Bogren (Fates Warning, Opeth, Devin Townsend, etc.) handling mixing duties in November. Stay tuned for more news coming soon!

Of The Sun Releasing New Album “Before A Human Path”

Southern progressive metal band Of The Sun will release new album “Before A Human Path” on April 14th, 2017. While Of the Sun’s sound is firmly rooted in groove and thrash metal, it also contains elements of prog, which creates a unique listening experience.

The band commented: “With ‘Before a Human Path,’ we pulled from personal extremes to convey a more colorful and varied storyline within the span of each song. Ultimately shunning conventional songwriting formula, we really dug in to unearth something we felt isn’t currently being done. We’re beyond excited to share it with you!.”

New Album Artwork Unveiled By Famishgod

Spanish funerotting doom/death act Famishgod, lead by Dave Rotten (Avulsed) and Funedeim (Bizarre), has just revealed the title and cover art for the second studio release to be entitled “Roots of Darkness.” The album will be issued on December 1st from Xtreem Music. A new song and track list for the album will be revealed soon.

The artwork for “Roots of Darkness” was painted by artist Abigor Artaburu, who already worked for bands like Aposento and Ouija, among many others. The new band logo was been designed by Phlegeton (Wormed). Check them out below.

The album is currently being mixed by Dave Rotten at his own Sanctuary Studios and will release just before Famishgod’s live appearance at the 4th edition of the Madrid is the Dark Festival together with bands like Samael, Tiamat, In The Woods, Ahab, Draconian and many more.

“Roots of Darkness” will feature 7 conceptual chapters that continue the story from the debut album “Devourers of Light.” The album musically deepens the dense, profound and dismal sounds of its predecessor, although this time with a human drummer and a better and heavier production, but always keeping true to the rotting, majestic and enigmatic essence that characterizes Famishgod.

Aborym Announces New Album “Shifting.negative”

Industrial black metal group Aborym has revealed the first details surrounding upcoming new album “Shifting.negative.”

The opus, which is currently being recorded in three different studios, is helmed by band founder & mastermind Fabban with additional production by New York’s multi-grammy winner Marc Urselli (John Zorn, Lou Reed, Mike Patton, Tomahawk) at EastSide Sounds Studios.

Amongst those invloved in the production of the album are also the band’s sound engineer Emiliano Natali (Fear No One Studios, already having worked on “Psychogrotesque” and “Dirty”), Luciano Lamanna (Subsound Studios) and Teo Pizzolante (Braingasm Lab).

Excluding Fabban, “Shifting.negative” will introduce an entirely new line-up of the Italian based combo. Multi-instrumentalist Dan V has became a new permanent member and has already recorded guitars and bass on the upcoming album. The line-up is further shaped by longtime ABORYM associate & bassist RG Narchost, guitarist Davide Tiso (Gospel of the Witches, ex-Ephel Duath, Nio) and synth-player/keyboardist Stefano Angiulli.

“Shifting.negative” is set to be released on Agonia Records at a date yet to be determined. More news will follow soon. The album follows previous release “Dirty,” which was included on the recommended reading list for my sci-fi horror novella “Empty.”

The “Shifting.negative” tracklist in no particular running order is as follows:

Unpleasantness
Decadence in a nutshell
Big H
Slipping through the cracks
10050 Cielo Drive
For a better past
Precarious
Tragedies for sale
Going new places
You can’t handle the truth

Integrity Releasing “Humanity Is The Devil” 20th Anniversary Vinyl

Chicago-based Organized Crime Records has confirmed the impending re-release (as a 20th anniversary vinyl edition) of Integrity’s “Humanity Is The Devil,” currently being pressed to hit for Record Store Day next month.

Subsequent to the release of “Systems Overload” earlier that year, Integrity would enter Mars Studio on Hallows Eve 1995; the result would be the true culmination of what the band had been working towards both music and thematically. “Humanity Is The Devil” was an aural assault like no other at the time.

Organized Crime Records is proud to present this groundbreaking record in its ultimate 20th anniversary edition. Comprised of limited color vinyl housed in a stunning five-color gatefold jacket featuring art by Pushead and layout by vocalist Dwid Hellion, this edition includes an updated version of the rare “Humanity Is The Devil” pamphlet, a 16.5″ x 22″ poster, expanded artwork by Josh Bayer, and liner notes by guitarist Aaron Melnick.

Integrity is also planning new live actions for 2016, having today been confirmed to take part in this year’s edition of the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec this June.

Snake Eyes Seven Wrapping Up Work On New Album “Medicine Man”

Canadian heavy metal band Snake Eyes Seven is in the final phase of completing third release “Medicine Man.” The album is currently being mixed by producer and lead guitarist Cam MacLeod at the Wolf Den in Edmonton, Alberta.

“Just like ’13 Crows’ was leaps and bounds over our debut, ‘Medicine Man’ will crush anything prior to what we’ve done.” says founding member, guitarist, and chief song writer Cole The Madman Stevens.

Once mixdown is completed, the project then heads to L.A. to be mastered. The album will contain 9 blistering tracks of heavy metal and two videos were shot on location in December 2015 at the Twin D Ranch in Vancouver for the tracks “Medicine Man” and “Can You Hear Me Calling.” Both videos were produced by Danny Deane, executive produced by Cole Stevens, with executive assistance by Cat in the Hat Productions.
