Snares Of Sixes Streaming “Yeast Mother” EP

“Yeast Mother: An Electroacoustic Mass,” the debut EP by Snares Of Sixes – the newest investigative musical outlet of Agalloch’s Jason Walton – just saw release through Crucial Blast this past Friday. Now a full stream has come online and can be heard below.

Fusing an intense and eclectic range of extreme and experimental approaches into a disjointed and somehow simultaneously seamless hybrid of sounds, Snares Of Sixes’ maiden recording sees co members of Lawnmower Deth, Winds, Sculptured, Blekspetl, Hollow Branches, Self Spiller, Barrowlands, Age Of Silence, Dolven, Musk Ox, The Night Watch, Maestus, and more joining the creator in his delivery of this intriguing mutation.

Offers Jason Walton of the EP: “‘Yeast Mother’ scratched an insidious and pervasive itch for me. In many ways this is an album I have been striving to make since my high school years. Once I fell in love with challenging and confounding music, I have created many vehicles to try to replicate the feeling of awe this form of music inspired in me. Especially Likely Sloth, Nothing, and Self Spiller were all created to satisfy this craving. With Yeast Mother, I believe I have finally reached that goal.”

Emit Streaming “Beneath Carvings Linger” From Album Re-Release

Crucial Blast is preparing “Spectre Music Of An Antiquary,” the out-of-print 2012 album from U.K. ambient black metal entity Emit, to be reintroduced to the population at the end of October. The label comments:

“The latest album of murky graveyard ambience, deranged synth, phantasmic dread and ritualistic black drift from this cult U.K. outfit, their first in nearly ten years is surrealistic, spectral music and nocturnal delirium transmitted from beyond the veil and steeped in the mysteries of old Britain, like some twisted, eldritch fusion of Fabio Frizzi, In Umbra Malitiae Ambulabo-era Abruptum, and 80’s darkwave.

“A must-hear for anyone into the murky surrealistic blackness of artists like Reverorum ib Malacht (a band that has shared members with Emit in the past), Yoga, Occultation, Uno Actu, Utarm, and Dapnom.”

No Clean Singing is hosting one of the album’s bizarre, all-consuming passages. The seventh in this haunting ten chapter manifesto, “Beneath Carvings Linger,” can be heard below.

“Spectre Music Of An Antiquary” will be available from Crucial Blast via digital download and digipak CD on October 28th.

Epistasis Streaming New “Light Through Dead Glass” EP

In less than a week, Crucial Blast will release the label’s first recordings from NYC metal experimentalists Epistasis with the “Light Through Dead Glass” mini-album, and today lets the whole thing loose early. Give the full EP a listen below. The following press release was also issued:

“Set for release on April 1st, the collective’s latest sonic explorations are documented through six new movements on the new EP, Epistasis’ own specialized, unclassifiable mangling of influences swirling into a chaotic, devastating and yet beautiful entity.

“The haunting and crushing range of vocals pouring forth from Amy Mills’ (Couch Slut) matched with her mournful trumpet contributions somehow weaves seamlessly into the barrage of percussion unloaded by drummer Alex Cohen (Pyrrhon, Malignancy) while guitarist Kevin Wunderlich (Couch Slut, Voice Coils) and bassist Doug Berns lay down an equally vast culmination of amplification and riff tactics. Mills recently also played trumpet on new albums from Castevet and Psalm Zero. The EP was recorded under the watch of Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans, Unsane).

“Epistasis will showcase their latest works at a hometown gala, just days after the official release of Light Through Dead Glass. On Sunday, April 6th, Kayo Dot, White Suns, and Pyrrhon will share the stage at the Acheron in Brooklyn with EPISTASIS at the band’s official release show for the record.”
