A representative for the As I Lay Dying’s record label could not immediately be reached for comment, and it was unclear if Lambesis had an attorney.

Behemoth’s Nergal Comments On Supreme Court’s Blasphemy Decision

Behemoth’s Nergal, who has recently overcome leukemia and was cleared of blasphemy charges, is now in danger of potentially serving jail time after the Polish supreme court now ruled against him on those previous charges of offending religious sensibilities by tearing up a Bible during a live show. Nergal has also now issued the following statement about the situation:

“As some of you know, I’ve been battling this bullshit for a few years now. Things are getting more serious and… dangerous.

“Anyways, looks like freethinking wins over obscurity in the end. If not in Poland, at least in Europe… Read and share.

“Wanted to thank you for all the words of support and encouragement. This means everything to me. Onward to victory! Hail Freedom!””

Excerpts from the EUObserver article that Nergal links to follows:

The European Commission has said that Poland’s prosecution of a rock group for “blasphemy” is against European values.

Its lead singer, Adam Darski, while on stage in 2007, ripped up a Bible and called the Roman Catholic church a “murderous cult.”

In a case with echoes of Pussy Riot in Russia or Mohammed cartoons in Denmark, the Polish supreme court on Monday said prosecutors can go after Darski on the basis of article 196 of Poland’s penal code on “the crime of offending religious sensibilities.” In theory, he faces two years in prison. But nobody expects a jail sentence if he loses.

Archaios Comments On The Death Of Jose Carlos Hernandez

Dominican death metallers Archaios just published on their Facebook page an official statement about the murder of one of their peers, Exsanguination Throne’s drummer Jose Carlos Hernández, on September 2nd while the band was playing at a local concert. This vile and violent affair only adds more trouble to the cloud of controversy that has surrounded the band and the Dominican Metal scene for more than two decades. The statement, written by Archaios’ guitarist Eric Cruz, says:

The Dominincan Republic has lost a great musician but most of all an outstanding person. Jose Carlos Hernández’ (aka Asmodeo Nefast Drum Shiva) murder is an act of hate. He was stabbed 27 times on Sunday, September 2nd outside a club where Archaios and other bands were playing. None of us (Archaios’ members) had the chance to intervene nor help as the crime happened ironically while we were playing our last two songs of the set “Dreaming with the Dead” and “Eternal Bleeding” and didn’t notice what was happening until a friend came into the club and onto the stage to ask our replacement drummer William Marte for medical help.

William is a doctor and was tapped by the band to fill in for our drummer Johandy Ureña until he returns from the U.S.A. By the time he got out of the club Shiva was already being taken to a hospital. Of course, the number and kind of wounds he had didn’t even allow him to reach the hospital with a pulse.

Living in a conservative country like the Dominican Republic, Shiva chose to give up on everything he had here to lead a life in South America doing what he loved the most: playing Metal. This was a step few are willing to take in order to pursue the Metal dream, the dream of extreme music. He was in the country coincidentally, on a vacation break and went to that concert just to celebrate the music he loved, until the very end.

We, Archaios, profoundly condemn this act of blood and offer our condolences to his family who has been shrouded by a dark cloud no one should ever experience. Going through these difficult times and struggling to see justice done is something just horrific. One more time, the spiral of conjectures unleashed by the sensationalist media has been overwhelming. Many local journalists have excelled by speculating without even leaving room to find out about the true facts surrounding the articles they write. So is the case, that the newspapers even said that a second person who was just wounded at the scene died as well, not even thinking about the grave repercussions this kind of lies might lead to.

Shiva, you may be gone, but your legacy lives on forever inside those who knew you and shared the stage with you. Your Metal Brothers will never forget. Hails to you!

Below is a video for Exsanguination Throne doing its eponymous track.

Paul Gray’s Physician Charged With Eight Counts Of Involuntary Manslaughter

The Des Moines Register has reported that Daniel Baldi was charged with several counts of involuntary manslaughter for the crime of allegedly over-prescribing painkillers to patients who subsequently passed away after overdosing.

Among the deaths that lead to the charges was that of Slipknot’s Paul Gray, who died in 2010. Slipknot has now issued the following statement about the development:

“As the loss of our brother Paul Gray is still very fresh for us in the Slipknot family, this new development has us all in a state of anger and sadness. The fact that this person took advantage of our brother’s illness while he was in a position to help others has outraged everyone in our family.

“We can only hope that justice will be served so this can NEVER happen to anyone else ever again! Our thoughts go out to the families of the other victims. We plan to cooperate as much as we possibly can to ensure this tragedy is never repeated, and to make sure this man pays for what he has done.”

Liv Kristine Comments On New Album "Libertine"

Liv Kristine (Leaves’ Eyes) has issued the following update about “Libertine,” her upcoming new solo album:

“Dear Fans & Friends,

“Summer greetings from Mastersound Studio! The mixdown and mastering of my fourth solo album which is called ‘Libertine’ was completed yesterday and will be given a release date soon. ‘Libertine’ is truly a milestone in my career; it sums up my most important artistic experiences in my creative journey through life. The more rock and metal-based songs like ‘Vanilla Skin Delight’ (incl. superb male vocals from Tobias Regner), ‘Paris Paris,’ ‘Solve Me,’ and title track ‘Libertine’ certainly expose some of those magic moments which fans of Theatre of Tragedy enjoyed and treasured on ‘Aegis’ and ‘Musique.’

“The ballads ‘Silence,’ ‘Love Crime,’ and ‘Meet Me in the Red Sky’ will go straight into you hearts, each of them being absolute individual in their emotional expressions and musical compositions. Alex gave each track a perfect sound in the mix by emphasizing on each song’s characteristic accent and atmosphere.

“I can’t wait to let you hear this album; it is exceptional to me both personally and in my artistic career, and I can’t wait to play these songs for you live! The cover and booklet artwork is completed as well. It took a while for me, personally, to find the artistic expression I wished to expose in my pictures, however, Heile (Heilemania) and Alex guided me into the right direction, for which I am so happy and grateful. The cover of ‘Libertine’ will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!”
