Children Of Bodom Posts New Lyric Video “This Road” Online

Finland’s melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are set to release their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band has unleashed the official lyric video for their new single “The Road.” You can check it out below.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments: “This Road was actually the last song I wrote but it ended up being the opening track and also one of the singles which makes me happy cos it’s one of my faves. It’s different from anything we’ve done since Follow the Reaper but it’s still new. Check it out and you’ll know what I mean.”

“Hexed” saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where they were reunited with Mikko Karmila (“I Worship Chaos,” “Halo Of Blood,” “Hatebreeder,” “Follow the Reaper” & “Hate Crew Deathroll”) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Janne Wirman recorded keyboards at Beyond Abilities Studios. The album was mixed and mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

For this album, the band enlisted Deins Forkas to create the album artwork. Bassist Henkka Blacksmith commented on the cover, “For some years already I have wanted to try a different approach with our cover art. We are so used to digital art so that is really hard to do something else. Doing it all the way with a computer is somewhat safe and convenient. This time we all agreed to try it old school. We found this cool dude and gave him simple instructions. The cover has to be purple and the reaper has to be central. Half a year later we got his work, and with a little tweaking, we have the cover of Hexed. It is very different from what we are used to, even the Reaper looks different, but at the same time very spooky.“

Hexed track list:
1. This Road
2. Under Grass and Clover
3. Glass Houses
4. Hecate’s Nightmare
5. Kick in the Spleen
6. Platitudes and Barren Words
7. Hexed
8. Relapse (The Nature of My Crime)
9. Say Never Look Back
10. Soon Departed
11. Knuckleduster
12. I Worship Chaos (live)
13. Morrigan (live)
14. Knuckleduster (remix)

Forever Still Reveals New Album “Breathe In Colours” Details; Posts New Video “Rewind” Online

Megacorporations owning our governments, the world on the verge of ecological collapse – is this 2019? When Philip K. Dick wrote what would later become Blade Runner set in 2019, no one would have believed that the dystopian cyberpunk future he imagined would be so similar to the world we live in today…

This realisation is what sparked the idea for the new album from Forever Still – “Breathe In Colours,” which will be released via Nuclear Blast on March 29th.

With their sophomore full-length album, the band has evolved their songwriting skills even further and didn’t want to produce a plain copy of its predecessor “Tied Down,” released in 2016. Instead, the new album drifts both into more epic moments like on the captivating opener ‘Rewind’ or ‘Embrace The Tide’, while frontwoman Maja Shining also delivers her heaviest screams to date on the groovy ‘Survive’ or their emotional declaration of war, ‘Fight!’. And for the first time, the songwriter duo of singer Maja and multi-instrumentalist Mikkel Haastrup has decided to make the album a more collaborative effort and therefore brought their long time live drummer, Rune Frisch, into the studio with them to record the drums – a big step for the two young musicians who handled everything on their own on the previous record, from music videos to band photos, the album production and even concert booking.

Maja’s lyrics are still as personal as they used to be, however for “Breathe In Colours,” the band decided to work with a futuristic and dystopian theme, as she explains: “Instead of looking in, we turned our focus to the world and saw it in a state of change. It somehow reminded us of the dystopian cyberpunk future, we’d seen in books and movies when we were kids, where megacorporations own our governments, the world is on the verge of ecological collapse and humanity is fleeing into cyberspace building walls around themselves and closing their eyes to the horrors of the real world. This, and the fact that two of the most influential cyberpunk works of all time, Blade Runner and Akira, are set in 2019, is what gave us the initial idea for the album and its more electronic and raw sound.”

On their social media, Forever Still have already revealed some initial info on the new album hidden in binary code language, and the explanation behind the cover artwork of “Breathe In Colours” – still designed by Maja herself – is just as fascinating:

“At first glance the cover art appears quite dark and gloomy, but in reality it’s bursting with colour. Just like the real world – sometimes we just have to look really closely to actually see it. The many numbers behind me represent all the colours in the world in binary code – more commonly known as ‘computer language’ and is at the same time a reference to the world becoming so digital and people escaping into their computers to find colours instead of living in the real world and finding them there.”

Today, the Danish modern rock outfit unveils its first music video off the new album. You can check out the clip for “Rewind” below.

The “Breathe In Colours” tracklisting reads as follows:
1. Rewind
2. Fight!
3. Breathe In Colours
4. Is It Gone?
5. Survive
6. Do Your Worst
7. Pieces
8. Rising Over You
9. Say Your Goodbyes
10. Embrace The Tide
Bonus:
11. Is It Gone? (Acoustic Version)
12. Perfect Day

Children Of Bodom Reveals New Album “Hexed” Details

Finland’s melodic death superstars Children Of Bodom are proud to the announce the release of their tenth album, Hexed, on March 8th 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments, “People have said that this album is generally catchier. So I started thinking about that, perhaps the song structures are easier to grasp on initial listen. But there’s some crazy shit in there, almost progressive or at least technical. There are certain melodies across the album that could have come from jazz songs, although they’re completely metal with us, of course (laughs).”

“For me, it has always been very hard to describe our new music,” comments bassist Henkka Blacksmith. “In a way it always feels familiar, but the new stuff also always surprises me. Here we have something that’s very Bodom, but somehow we haven’t done this kind of stuff, possibly ever. Then again, someone said that there’s a somewhat similar vibe to what Follow the Reaper had. I don’t know. Anyway, we had a really hard time choosing the songs for the videos, I guess that’s a positive problem to have.”

“Hexed” saw the return to Finland’s Danger Johnny Studios where COB were reunited with Mikko Karmila (“I Worship Chaos,” “Halo Of Blood,” “Hatebreeder,” “Follow the Reaper” and “Hate Crew Deathroll”) who recorded everything except keyboards and also produced the album with the band. Hexed will be available for pre-order starting December 7th.
