Small towns in the countryside are all obstinately the same wherever you go: loneliness, abjection, rage. Sabaton Announces New Album “The Last Stand”

The Swedish heavy metal heroes from Sabaton are currently working on their new studio album, entitled “The Last Stand,” which is going to be released worldwide on August 19th through Nuclear Blast. Pär Sundström comments:

“We once work again with Peter Tägtgren in his newly upgraded and top class Abyss studio in Sweden to record, produce and mix the album. The mastering will be done by Jonas Kjellgren who also works in the same building in nice Pärlby on the countryside of Sweden.

“Both ‘Carolus Rex’ and ‘Heroes’ was done in the same way and we feel very comfortable to return to the same place and people again. Fans will recognize the sound of the album as Sabaton, but we really feel we took it a step forward this time.”

The artwork on the album is made by Peter Sallaí who has been with Sabaton since “Carolus Rex.” Pär Sundström explains: “We had the idea to make an image reflecting soldiers of different times representing the different historical battles we sing about on the new album. This only reveals a small part of the album topics though.”

“The concept of a last stand has always fascinated me, and both me and Pär were ‘all in excited’ about the subject so it was an easy choice to make,” says vocalist Joakim Broden about the album title.

Sundström adds: “We have always several ideas for albums to work with. Since there are countless different views and angles of war, we will unfortunately never run out of ideas. We kinda felt that the last stand was something perfect for Sabaton. Something we really wanted to do. ‘Heroes’ was a perfect theme and ‘The Last Stand’ is right down our alley too. It was exciting to do the research.”

“Frontschwein” track listing:

01. Frontschwein
02. The Blond Beast
03. Afrika

It’s kind of a cheap ‘artist’ thing to do. I remember reading about bands that needed to travel out into the countryside to connect and write together. For me, it comes naturally. I can write or play guitar in the middle of the night or whenever; it just comes to me.”

Ruindom Announces “In The Eyes Of Death” Release

Ruindom will release “In The Eyes of Death” via inverse Records on May 17th, 2013. The track listing is:

1. Beyond the Hill
2. Crawling With the Dead
3. Demon Call
4. Past Life Illusion
5. Perfect World
6. Sordid Price
7. Where the World is Gone
8. In the Eye of Death

Inverse Records also commented on the band:

“Ruindom was formed in summer 2008 at Valkeakoski on the ruins of a failed modern death metal band. The main driving force behind the music has been the early 90’s old school death metal. After couple of demos and some lineup changes the band completed their debut album ‘On The Ruins of Decadence; in May 2012. After that Ruindom picked up their pace and by the end of 2012 there were already eight finished songs for the next album, ‘In the Eye of Death.’

“Ruindom’s music is heavily based on trio mentality: the sound on the record is basically the same as the band sounds live, there’s no need for support guitars on solos etc. Guitar and bass are pretty much married sound wise, though bass tends to flirt with percussion to keep things interesting.

“Soundspace is intentionally left raw. Overpolished and clean just doesn’t fit in the band’s menu. Majority of the song templates feed from hangover anxiety and feels caused by certain movies. The monsters are then brought to life in the depths of the rehearsal place. Lyrical themes share the same core philosophy as the music. The grim human fates: Actors best days gone, human wrecks as musicians living up someone else’s dreams. The holy trinity of religion, war and peace. Reincarnation and inner demons. The darkness and paganic sights of the countryside.”
