Sodom Added to Brutal Assault Line-Up Along With Sick of it All, EYEHATEGOD and Therion

ODOM marks the return of Frank Blackfire (ex-Sodom, ex-Kreator, or Assassin). SODOM have already released seminal albums such as Persecution Mania, the live cut Mortal Way Of Live and the highly successful Agent Orange with Frank Blackfire and he is back in a line-up featuring two guitarists for the first time ever in the history of SODOM. Be ready for a brand new ripping SODOM sound!

Other revered living legends in this batch are NY/HC leading lights SICK OF IT ALL formed in 1986. More than three decades in the making, the New Yorkers show no signs of slowing down, getting soft, or toning down their stand-proud mentality on new album, Last Act of Defiance. The band still spits out anthems of heartful, no-holds-barred hardcore like on day one with live gigs full of unchained energy!

Veterans of NOLA sound mixing southern rock, blues riffs and hardcore punk EYEHATEGOD are one of the most reputable and distinctive bands ever, even defining a brand new genre now known as sludge in the past.

Other veterans formed in 1987 this time in Sweden and quickly became one of the most creative death metal bands, pushed limits of the contemporary sound and grew beyond themselves. Later on THERION released Theli, which would be the ultimate breakthrough for the band. With the record THERION turned towards a more opera-like, progressive and even orchestral sound which made them famous through the world. And now they’re coming to Brutal Assault with a special Theli show!

Odd-time signatures, avalanches of breaks and complex rhythmical as well as melodic patterns will excite every aficionado of extreme technicality, while growls down-tuned strings and double-bass assaults will more than satisfy extreme metal connoisseurs when WORMED take over BA stage!

Their South African brutal death metal cousins VULVODYNIA are one of the most active and well known bands in the genre today. Their brutal yet catchy, pit fueling, heavy as hell sound has since earned them fans from around the world and now they are ready to conquer BA!

The final addition on the list is the mysterious producer known as GOST, who embodies the character of Baalberith on his propulsive synthwave solo project that is channeling his fascination with the occult, John Carpenter and 80s slasher flicks. With its haunting atmospherics and aesthetics influenced by the blackest corners of the metal world his music quickly garnered GOST a loyal following within the rock and metal community worldwide.

Twitching Tongues releases new digital album, ‘Disharmony Zero’, today

– October 30th, 2018 –

Today (October 30th), Twitching Tongues has released a new digital album, Disharmony Zero, which includes two previously unreleased demos: “Insatiable Sin Zero” and “Asylum Ave Zero”. Recorded, mixed and mastered at The Pit in Van Nuys, CA by Taylor Young in March 2015, this recording features the band’s Colin Young on vocals and drums, and Taylor Young on guitar, bass, and vocals. The studio versions of the two tracks appeared on 2015′s Disharmony.

Colin Young comments: “As some fuckin’ guy once said, always trust your first instinct…
Here are two songs that truly represent that, as we believe the final studio versions of both ‘Insatiable Sin’ and ‘Asylum Avenue’ have truly never measured up to these respective recordings, and we decided, truly just because we fuckin’ can, that we wanted to let people hear the final demo sessions for two of our favorite songs on ‘Disharmony‘. While the whole record might be misunderstood to a great many, these two versions of these two songs, in particular, better capture the spirit of what we had in mind those few years ago. Kiss my ass and then the rest of our ass. Enjoy.”

Disharmony Zero track-listing
1. Insatiable Sin Zero
2. Asylum Ave Zero

Twitching Tongues released their fourth full-length, Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred, earlier this year via Metal Blade Records. The album’s title was drawn from a quote by famed social philosopher Eric Hoffer – “Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life” – and it reflects the band’s mentality in approaching the record: paying homage to those who supported them while belligerently responding to their detractors. With “failure” as a core theme driving Colin Young’s lyrics, it also features his first foray into the political arena, motivated by the contemporary political climate to speak his mind. Directly inspired by film scores, the record has a strong epic feel, the band realizing their vision of having the music flow like a story being told. With interconnected parts, musical references and callbacks in each song, everything is tied together in a manner unlike any of their previous releases. At the same time, while maintaining the same levels of hardness and aggression that has characterized their later work, it features much more immediate and memorable melodies, which evoke the sound of In Love There Is No Law yet at the same time feel fresh and new.

Details Of New Album “Escaping Gravity” Issued By Gross Reality

Formed all the way back in 1991, Raleigh, NC melodic thrash outfit Gross Reality amassed an impressive live resume throughout the early-’90s; sharing the stage with legends such as Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Confessor, Deicide, Type O Negative, and Unleashed. However, the band had left behind not a single recording at the time of the initial demise in 1996.

Reforming in 2009 at a time when high-level thrash metal was coming back with a vengeance, Gross Reality continued to gain exposure on the live front, performing alongside longstanding icons such as Death Angel and (at the time) relative newcomers such as Evile and Bonded by Blood alike. This culminated in 2014, when Divebomb Records finally unleashed the reunited group’s long overdue debut full-length, “Overthrow.”

Now, three years later, Gross Reality’s fine-tuned trio of longtime core members Daniel Powell (bass/vocals), Roland Arthur (guitar), and Jason Wheeler (drums) has prepared an intense sophomore outing, “Escaping Gravity.” The eight-song effort—once again produced by Jamie King at The Basement Recording—features gorgeous cover art by Par Olofsson and delves into lyrical topics as diverse as perseverance, the effects of war, alien abductions, and much more. The album drops on August 11th via Divebomb Records.

“Escaping Gravity”‘s individualistic brand of tight, high-energy thrash strikes a constant balance between focused aggression and emphatic melody—at times even dipping its toe into more ambitious and prog-leaning waters, sure to pique the interest of those in search of more technical and complex fare. The end result should appeal to fans of everyone from Testament to Powermad; not to mention a younger generation of listeners more accustomed to the contemporary sounds of acts like Charred Walls of the Damned, Havok, and Gama Bomb.

The track listing and artwork can be found here:

1. Dimensional
2. Event Horizon
3. Zero Day
4. The Incomplete
5. Invitation
6. Soul Worn Thin
7. Into The Vault
8. Escaping Gravity

Benchpress Releasing New Split With Martyr’s Tongue

Get This Right Records is preparing to release a bulldozing split between two heavy-hitters in the contemporary hardcore circuit: a brutal showdown between Pennsylvania’s Benchpress and Puerto Rico’s Martyr’s Tongue. The following press release was issued about the bands:

“Based out of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Benchpress formed in 2011 initially as a joke, the goal being to write beatdown anthems for gym-rats. Having developed into the metal-tinged, hard-hitting powerhouse the band is nowadays is the product of several lineup, influence and outlook changes over recent years, and with two EPs and a prior split under their belt, the quintet’s future appears to be nothing but promising. Benchpress’ venomous surge of hardcore in the realm of veterans Cold As Life and Merauder and on par with modern acts Suburban Scum, Empire of Rats and Harm’s Way, is displayed through two tracks on side A of this new split, ‘Penance’ and ‘Pissed Away,’ recorded, produced and mastered by Carson Slovak at Atrium Audio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

“San Juan, Puerto Rico-based Martyr’s Tongue lays down a landslide of pandemonium as corrosive as it is pulverizing. With several demos, splits and EPs released since 2001, the self-proclaimed ‘five audio terrorists preaching world genocide through sonic warfare’ unleash a brand of metallic mayhem born of the dark lords of Cleveland, Ringworm and Integrity, contemporized with more harsh noise, grime and electronic elements, putting them in the race with Rot In Hell, Full of Hell, Blind To Faith and the like. Their two anthems, ‘Deconstructive Process’ and ‘Unholy Communion,’ were mastered by Axel in San Juan, mercilessly overthrowing the B-side of this split platter.

The split is due out on vinyl and as a digital download on May 8th. The track listing is as follows:

1. Penance – BENCHPRESS
2. Pissed Away – BENCHPRESS
3. Deconstructive Process – MARTYR’S TONGUE
4. Unholy Communion – MARTYR’S TONGUE

Details On New Album “In A Mirror Darkly” Revealed By Mekong Delta

German progressive thrash act Mekong Delta unveiled the album artwork and track list for the new album “In A Mirror Darkly.” The album drops in Scandinavia on April 23rd, in Germany on April 25th, in Europe on April 28th and in the USA on April 29th through SPV/Steamhammer. The album will be made available as a CD, double gatefold LP with colored vinyl plus CD in cardboard sleeve and download.

According to the press release: “It’s the hoped-for complex and ambitious album, and of course we wouldn’t have accepted anything less from Mekong Delta. Like few other contemporary groups, the German progressive thrash metal band surrounding mastermind and bassist Ralf Hubert continues to stand for innovation and independence in 2014. All those looking for pure mainstream or mediocre muzak have to look elsewhere – Mekong Delta score again with their intelligence, unwillingness to compromise and courage.”

The album picks up thematically where its 2010 predecessor “Wanderer On The Edge Of Time” left off. “For me, music doesn’t start with A and end with Z, it’s an ongoing process,” Ralf Hubert explains. “In this respect, you could call In A Mirror Darkly the continuation of the Wanderer theme, but it’s no copy, it’s an independent recording. Each Mekong album sounds unique and forward-looking in the original sense of the term. As a composer, I consciously allow myself to drift to be able to consistently explore new horizons.”

Martin LeMar (vocals), Ralf Hubert (bass, classical guitar), Erik Adam H. Grösch (guitar) and Alex Landenburg (drums) have recorded a total of eight songs for In A Mirror Darkly, among them three instrumental numbers like the classical guitar intro or the ingenious ‘Inside The Outside Of The Inside’ with its diverse arrangements. “Typically Mekong Delta, the new numbers all have a playing time of between five and seven minutes. As far as I am concerned, that’s just the right time frame to gain sufficient stylistic depth without pushing the envelope or creating artistic ambiguities,” band founder Ralf Hubert explains the initial parameters of the new album. “I feel that we’ve once again found the right mix of complexity and uninterrupted leitmotiv.”

The track list for the album is:

1. Introduction
2. Ouverture
3. The Armageddon Machine
4. The Sliver in Gods Eye
5. Janus
6. Inside the Outside of the Inside
7. Hindsight Bias
8. Mutant Messiah

Tritonus Releasing “Prison Of Light” Album After 13 Year Delay

Norwegian act Tritonus will finally release first album ”Prison of Light” today, after 13 years in the making. The band comments:

“The recordings started in the year 2000, and was finalized in 2006. But, due to different circumstances, a proper release has never been done, until now! And it is sure about time. Instead of updating it sonically for a 2013-sound, we chose to leave it ‘as-is,’ capturing the music, and the band, from the first half of the 00’s.

“The album sounds alive, and organic. It was recorded in the early years of digital recordings, and the sound is more or less analog. There has not been any extensive editing, or processing either. In that regard, it will stand out, from a lot of the contemporary productions and albums.”

The track listing is as follows:

1. Prison of Light
2. Demons
3. Remedy
4. Blindfolded
5. Castle of Life
6. Ten Thousand Years
7. The Quantum and The Lotus
8. To Travel Without Motion

Zed Streaming New Song “Skin And Bones”

Zed is gearing up for the release of sophomore album “Desperation Blues” this coming May 21st via I:AND:I Recordings. Today the band has partnered with Noisecreep to debut another song from the album. Check out the debut of the track “Skin and Bones” here or through the player below.

You can also watch the band’s previously posted video for “Please” at this location. The following press release was issued about the upcoming album:

“Great Rock and Roll doesn’t just happen. It’s made. With sweat, swagger and alcohol. And ZED makes rock the way it should be made. Loud guitars, a shot of whiskey and a middle finger.

“San Francisco Bay Area’s ZED takes it cues from the greats like Zeppelin, Sabbath and AC/DC, but combines them with their contemporary musical influences such as Clutch, Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age, creating a mixture that is new, yet familiar. With this explosive sound they are bringing back the guts, the grit and the balls to Rock. And they won’t stop until they succeed. At least in getting drunk and having a good time.

“In June of 2012 ZED entered Sonic Room Studios with Tim Narducci engineering and producing their sophomore album Desperation Blues. With the studio expertise that he gained from working with greats like Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult) and Howard Benson (P.O.D., My Chemical Romance), Narducci was able to harness the raw energy and essence of ZED in a way that had not been done before. And what they came out with was 46 minutes of giant, hook filled riffing, crafted into 10 songs that make up one beast of an album.”

The track listing is:

1. Please
2. Skin and Bones
3. Killing Machine
4. Desperation Blues
5. Crawl Back to You
6. More
7. Rain
8. The Empty Quarter
9. Settle the Score
10. The River
